  1. That or when I replaced the valve cover gasket in 2007 I caught it with the edge of the valve cover while slipping it back in.
  2. Your directions Abdul are impeckable.....Makes me wonder why I ever wasted cash on a manual.
  3. That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the answers
  4. How serious is it to leave out a rubber plug on the top of the camshaft bearing. It looks like the plug I found inside the clutch cover http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=77398 is from the camshaft bearing cap. Obviously it some how popped out and found its way into the cover. Looking at an engine that Carl has sitting on his garage floor with the valve covers removed it really does not appear to do much other than maybe keep oil from coming up through the hole in the upper bearing cap but to do that it would still have to go around the cam journal and lubricate it. Unless the journal bearing has a groove around the middle of the bearing, in which case the oile would just travel through the groove and exit through the unplugged hole and not lubricate the bearing and cam.

  10. I was thinking that it was some sort of bumper that sits inside the clutch cover lower rear corner for the shift rod inside to bump up against at the end of its movement. Guess I will have to take the cover off again to be sure. Its solid rubber with a mushroom head and two ribs around the barrel part to retain it in a hole.
  11. STUD ROOSTER A farmer went out one day and bought a brand new stud rooster for his chicken coop. The new rooster struts over to the old rooster and says,'OK old fart, Time for you to retire.' The old rooster replies, 'Come on, surely you cannot handle ALL of these chickens. Look what it has done to me Can't you just let me have the two old hens over in the corner?' The young rooster says, 'Beat it: You are washed up And I am taking over.' The old rooster says, 'I tell you what, young stud. I will race you around the farmhouse.. Whoever wins gets the exclusive domain over the entire chicken coop.' The young rooster laughs. 'You know you don't stand a chance, old man. So, just to be fair, I will give you a head start.' The old rooster takes off running. About 15 seconds later the young rooster takes off running after him. They round the front porch of the farmhouse and the young rooster has closed the gap. He is only about 5 feet behind the old rooster and gaining fast! The farmer, meanwhile, is sitting in his usual spot on the front porch When he sees the roosters running by. The Old Rooster is squawking And running as hard as he can. The Farmer grabs his shotgun and - BOOM - He blows the young rooster to bits. The farmer sadly shakes his head and says, 'Dammit... Third gay rooster I bought this month.' Moral of this story?... Don't mess with the OLD FARTS - Age, skill, wisdom, and a little treachery Always overcome youth and arrogance! :backinmyday:OLD DUDES RULE !!!

  16. All I get is sound no picture, just a white screen.
  17. What I have used on many occasions like this, is to find a torx bit just a bit bigger than the hex hole in the bolt. Take it to the grinder and just touch up the end so that the corners on it are sharp. Next assemble the bit, the bit holder and an extension together and then pound it into the top of the allen head bolt until it has cut its way in as far as it can go. The pounding will also help jar the bolt loose.
  18. Just got home from work when I saw this post, so I am just a bit late in saying this, but. Happy Birthday NAugh-T.
  19. I actually see no reason why it would not work with the double banjo set up. Some may be concerned that pressure may not apply equally, but the pressure in a closed system is actually self equalizing. Just make sure both calipers are the same.

  21. A very beautiful job. It is sad however that there will be those who see at as monument that glorifies war rather than a monument that glorifies those who fought to stop or end a war.
  22. I have built many trailers including boat trailers for boats as large as 18', and have been thinking for some time now to build myself a canoe trailer . Looking at the picture I would prefer the axle further back. I have visions of that much overhang catching a side wind and taking control of the bike. I have had too much sticking out of the back of a short car trailer when hauling a load of dry wall or lumber causing the the whole works to sway. Also with that much overhang you always have keep in mind that there will be much tail sweep when going around corners. When I get around to building mine, the axle wil be much further back than the one in the picture. If I load gear in the canoe I will make sure most of the weight will be at the back over were I place the axle.
  23. Caught this a little late but just an after thought check your caps that go on the tubes used for the sync tool to connect to. The rubber tends to develop small almost unnoticeable cracks that leak. Small pieces of vacuum hose plugged with a small ball bearing make a good substitute ( make sure the ball is big enough that it can't get sucked into the tube) Other option is a solid bucking rivet ( these are the solid rivets you flatten one end by hammering).
