Lately (say last 10-15yr) I have had Dodges. Got a 96 Ram 2500 with the Cummins. 128k I have replaced baljoints. Serviced oil and filters regularly. My other vehicle is a 2002 Durango 4wd with 4.7. Currently 203k. Ball joints (there was a recall on them back in 02 but have been changed again) Regular oil changes with synthetic and I run the longer Ford type filter instead of the short OEM type. When I worked @ the Dodge dealer most of the time we saw sludge problems it was people that drove shorter distances and did not change oil regularly. Now we have a 2011 Durango with the 5.7, only 83k on it and we bought it from a friend and I know the background of it for the last 5 or so years. The 5.7's they are seeing problems with from the reports I have got from my contact in the dealership is related to wrong weight oil. The 4.7 issues I saw were cam related oiling problems in head. But not a lot that I remember. I thought I wanted a newish 1500 with the ECO diesel, but I read to many posts about issues with the little smoker so I skipped that. Ford 4.6 is about indestructible, ask a cop, the 5.4 was known to have "phaser" problems from oil flow, but it's pretty easy to fix. Here in Fla unless you drive it in the ocean not much rust issues.

Sure is lots of bobles on that black one. Pretty, but comfort and ride would be king in my book.

If you hand them cash it freaks them out too. I try to let them ring everything up then give them the odd couple pennies.

Rule of thumb, 5 years MAX on a MC tire. I try to stay @ 3yr. So the high dollar long mileage tire if you only get in 4 or 5 k a year may not be a deal.

Because you just press "triangle" and you get a new life. Or so they think. I only wish we could figure out what the heck is wrong with these people. How does a guy swear an oath to defend his country then watch a video on the interweb and become a mass murder for the same enemy he fought against? I think maybe some of it is these kids dont even know what a "real weapon" can do when you shoot someone. Because they have lived in this cocoon of safety.

Looks good. Now if you have some place that does wraps by you. See if maybe they have a red thats close and have them put some pieces on it to kind of match the bags. I had a 900 Vulcan that was the teal (Caribbean blue) and I put a reckless brand fairing on it. A local body shop worked with me, I took them a side cover and they matched some paint for the fairing.

Wow that sucks. I slipped on some stairs coming out of an aircraft when I was in USAF. Fast forward 20 years. Was lifting loading some stuff and a few days later couldnt get out of bed, Ruptured disk L5 S1 area. Surgery fixed it. But I managed to screw that up a few years back somehow. And had similar thing while at work. Couldnt feel left leg, all numb and fuzzy feeling. Not bad enough it collapsed. But walking was a trip. Hope all goes well for you.

So spending many years in southwest Oklahoma I pose a question. Why even conceal carry. Just side ar holster the dang thing. Then it aint hidden. Shouldn't require any kind of special licence. OOPs then the government couldnt get their $$ Just so many years out there it was not uncommon to see a fellow walk in McDonald's with a side arm, or most places. Only place I remember having rules on it was court house and banks.

Well, while this next statement is mostly about the automotive side, it is the EPA's intent all the way across the board. Some know a few years back I changed jobs, I am now in a college as an assistant instructor for an automotive tech training program. During a couple of the sections (mainly engine performance-no not how to hot rod just get to run smooth and correct) We go over design and operation theory and reasons they way things are done. Discussions can get a bit long, but the down low is EVERYTHING manufactures are doing especially engine wise is emissions and MPG based. The reason we dont have 180 degree thermostats? Because they had to get cyl head temps up to help burn unburned gasses before pushing out. Why 8 speed transmissions? Because the PCM/ECM can then control what RPM and shift point. All so mfg can make a predetermined corporate fuel mpg across the board. Sorry so winded of a explanation. But EPA is even driving emission output on bikes. Thus no 2 strokers anymore. I keep waiting for them to knock the ring dingers out of snow machines. So yes water cooling will accomplish what guberment wants, but........... Read some of the Indian owners complaints. Lots of them concern engine heat on them. Now will this engin find its way into only a "new" bigger badder bagger for Injun? Probably, same route HD uses put in high priced machine and if it goes offer it up in others. Do ya think maybe they could have went Yamahas route and put some fake fins on jugs to keep the "old school" look, yea they would probably help. I kind of like the look of the scout engine and the V-Max sans the fins. But if it has the "old school" fringe, wheel pants 50's look the motor will look like a trans plant without fins IMOP.

Hard to say, but I would bet a fist full of money Victory $$ paid for the R&D and design of that engine. Then the a$$ board of directors 86'd the brand. I agree if they were trying to "hide" the bike ahhh they missed that. Way to many things point to the Indian. And then its parked next to a FTR Indian. Daa hey dummy probably not stealthy dude. If you have not read the story on the Vision those dudes were pretty black ops

I finally wired up my SENA so I can plug in my molded ear plugs. Somewhere on the interweb I found where a fellow had modified his SENA mount so he could use ear buds. I did the same, but it took a bit more messing around to do it on my Bell Mag 9 Sena

One of the things I miss about racing is the fabrication work. I love tinkering like that. Bravo

I went HID replacement bulb. It was great. The replace the whole lens thing was to overwhelming to me. Looks good.

I cant hardly stand watching Mechems or Barret Jackson. Folks there just have way more dollars than cents. You see all them cars I drove back then and now you can finance a house for what they go for.

But does it come with a life time of chiropractor appointments paid for?

I forget about it being there to tell you the truth. I log in while watching TV and check here and there. So carrying on a cognitive conversation is hard. LOL

Well Dang It! Fuel Pump Issue?
djh3 replied to BlueSky's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Fuel filter is worth a check. They are a PIA to get at, so if your checking it out might as well just change it. I ran one like this Also I just went solid state with a Mr Gasket G 42 fuel pump. Never had to worry about it again. -
ARGH Blasphemy a SBC in a MOPAR. Needs a late model Hemi. Still pretty cool though. Had a buddy in Ok when I was in USAF that was a body man on the side. He got some like late 30's early 40's Plymouth 4 door long swoopy thing. He fixed the body all up and I helped him drop a 440 and torqueflite in it.

Yea I thought about heat too. What if you took a thin piece of paneling or plywood over cut by a couple inches and it would act as a heat shield. I hate to give up storage. But if your solo you have options.

I can imagine trying to drive steaks in that sand down there in Keys was like trying to drive into concrete. Hope you had a great trip.

Noisy engine when hot in traffic
djh3 replied to ZOEYDOG's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
I have a tendency to KISS. Keep it simple stupid. I would use a relay circuit with fused high side xraw. Find you a key on power to allow a switch to trip it on/off. If you dont have a place in fairing for a switch I can send a drawing of a small bracket I fabricate that works well. -

I would say yes. Dunno didnt read the whole ad. But I would think so being it is supposed to be a radiator fan.
