  1. I have read and seen several posting on you tube about HD having some major engine issues on their Milwaukee 8 motors oiling system. Wipes out the engines. One fellow on you tube had his bike in for the 3rd engine. 1 original and now the second replacement. Next motor I would be replacing it with would be something else.
  2. I do the relay kit. Plug and play. You may also want to look into the "switch repair" before going full tilt on a new switch ($300 usd) Also another thing to look at on those pesky driving lights issues. The wires run up under the fairing on the RSV and I have to imagine about the same place on the TD. The wires like to find their way in between the steering stops and get pinched. Then short out or completely loose connection.
  3. Depending on your finances I would contact skydoc I think it is. He has some kind of connection for a dependable clutch kit. Maybe he can hook you up with the basket too. If I was tearing in to clutch basket, I would think it would be worth while to go ahead and replace the clutch bits.
  4. I can get on board with rotating parts coming loose or something like clutch. From the description you give you have sorted it out some without catastrophic damage.
  5. If you have rubber lines they can cause issue also. The inside of the line rubber will deteriorate and it almost acts like a check valve. The fluid under pressure from master will go out to caliper, but does not have enough pressure on return to get by the fragments. I have not actually seen it on any bikes, but I have seen it on older cars front brakes primarily.
  6. If its a rod, how about the old pull the plug on cylinders and see if knock quits. If it quits then issue is rod on that cyl more than likely
  7. FLT........ Thats all I remember I was looking for. They have so many letters in their codes. But basically if they are FLT something they work.
  8. Here in the states, I have been in auto racing of different sorts since as long as I can remember. I cant even begin to tell you how many local Saturday night short tracks have been lost to the same thing. Tracks build out where nobody is. Several years later the McMansions start moving in and around and ***** about noise. Da hey dummy they were there before what makes you think its gonna be any different.
  9. Yup, batteries come serviced up with fluid and charged. I know when I worked in a garage back in the mid 70's we pulled a battery off the shelf, added acid and usually had to charge for a couple hours before installing. Anymore they charged when you pick one out. So my question that looms is if you all up north are at the end of your riding season and are putting stuff on battery tenders and such. Why buy a battery now when it will be 3 or 4 moths before you can ride? Your loosing 4 months of warranty.
  10. Unless you've swapped the the Road King mufflers, you might need to grease the muffler bearings too.
  11. I had a fellow online racer that lived in Quebec. For a while there he had several months he had a birthday and I would send him "gifts" Similar problem with tariffs etc. So would ship to my place and I would forward.
  12. Yankee engineering at work. Have a problem, make something to fix it. Unlike todays youth, they would have to you tube it and see if someone else was smart enough to figure it out.
  13. I was surprised there a couple days back when I saw like 3 new members, and then shortly after that several posts that were complete garbage links. I did not fall for it. LOL You all are rite the majority must suffer for the minority of dumb a$$.
  14. Only way I see to do it is swap out the entire master/handle assy. Something like this.
  15. LOL 4 lb. The rack probably weighs half that. Maybe they misprinted it and its supposed to be 14lb? I think Victory's weight limit is also rite at 10lb. Pretty sure mine has met and or exceed that a time or three. However, I will say stacking stuff on the top of the trunk began to worry me some. Thats why I sprung for the hitch and the cooler rack to get that stuff low.
  16. Barry, hate see see a friend say good bye. But I get it, life throws curves at us and we have to navigate them. I have you e-mail and you have mine. If you run across something and have a question by all means give a shout. I'm sure Steve feels the same. If we get meet and eats going I will drop a note. If you can make it great.
  17. Naw its the national meat of Hawaii.
  18. Yea the newer stuff takes this oil. 0-20 not uncommon. But the intervals are pretty long. If ya get board Puc look up some engine spec's like rod and main bearing clearances on your new ride, then compare them to say a 72 350 chevy or something.
  19. Yours may be a little different then mine was. But my clutch didnt disengage until just about at the grip. So like I said if it has to have say 1.5 inch of travel to compress the slave master, unless you change the length of the piston in the master, I do not believe your going to be able to change angle of the dangle of the lever.
  20. Maybe this post will help. Fellow says the tranfer case is PCM controlled when it senses when there is wheel slippage. If the front diff is limited slip, my best guess would be its a clutch pack type. Seldom is there a limited slip in the front diff.
  21. How come you got a wood chipper on the front of that mower?
  22. Here is a better pic of location. Its to far back to be some sort of passenger thing. Red arrow shows location.
  23. I can tell you from my research Tax wise Tn or Ga is best bet. NC taxes are high, income, personal property. Ga does not tax your retirement checks either. but its a pretty fer piece from say Blairsville to Dollywood to treck to work.
  24. I was wondering the same thing. We are still thinking about a move. Just can not nail down where we would like to end up. If I was set on that area, I would actually look to Sevierville. Last 2 times we were in PF/Gatlinburg the traffic was horrible. Stop dead on main roads kind of like I Drive in Orlando. Tourset areas unless you have to work there are not usually a great place to live.
  25. Have to ask why your looking for something more off set. Are you meaning closer to grip? Clutch is hydraulic so it has to have a certain amount of throw. So if you found a handle closer to grip, it probably would not disengage the clutch.
