Reflectors to LEDs (with turn signals)
djh3 replied to Motorpig's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I had to run 2 seperat powers for the running side. I dunno why but thats what I had to do to make it work right. I tried a tap for one running light source and split for the sides but it did something goofy I forget what now. -
Bad part if I looked at buying a trailer is someone would think they then have to fill all the voids created in said trailer.
-
See down here in Fla they turn them on and drive all over town with them running. So they dont really mean anything anyways. Sort of like a loto, are they going to turn dead in front of me? Hmmmmm
-
Thanks Jeff. They look redish. Bags they are in look sort of oily like where the rubber is touching. Its been a long time since I put the one in a Mustang Gt I had so memory isnt allways the best guide. I got them for a tick over $35, so lees than what a OEM would have run. I'm a happy dude. Well as far as that goes, on the other hand it took me over 5hr to change a radiator in my sons 01 300m chrysler. Obviously nobody put any thought into one of these things having to be serviced. Danged engineers

On the way up looking at crossing over by Landsdowne 137. On the way out will be the Buffalo, Where is the peace bridge? I see a bridge at the lower end off the QEW. Google maps has me using the Gen Brock Pky to I 190.

Did I read somewhere in the HF trailer threads that quite a few add like 4" to tounge length and it helps stability pulling?

I cant say much about english. I was so poor at it in high school I had to some of the classes twice. I still think a dangling participle is something about to fall out of your nose or something. But there is very little common curtisey anymore. Around here with as many older retired folks its kind of neat to hold the door for them or grab something off a shelf at the grocery stor they are trying the reach. Sometimes they are just beside themselves sombody helped them out. I am probably an offneder of the "no problem" phrase though.

Has anyone run a 170/80-15 rear tire
djh3 replied to Cowboy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Im pretty sure if mine had a WW on the rear it would look black anyways from the brake dust. I wont put WW on my cars because I dont want to clean them. lol I was reading alot of tire threads last year when shopping for tires for the RSV. Hd seems to be a big user of the WW tires, and I think Dunlap is the only guys making them. Try a search at Dennis Kirk, Jake Wilson & Motorcycle Superstore etc and see what shows up for options. -
Air filters showed up today. A #1 condition, box hadnt even been opened that I could tell. I do have a question on the K&N filters though. When you reciev them are they ready to mount right out of the plastic wrap? They look sort of oiled but I havent taken them out yet.

Not what I want to hear. I'm looking at a trip up by Toronto. Getting into Canada wont be a problem as I have time. The return trip though I got to make some miles everyday if you know what I mean. Other wise I'm gonna have a really long ssecond day.

The wife and I have been soooo busy this week with fund raisers for American Cancer Socitiey stuff aint had a chance to make it up there. Maybe Sunday if we feel like getting up early and riding up. About 4hr for me back roads up. I'll probably come in from the west side SR 40 or SR 11 I think it is then across US1

SO do you notice a difference in handleing? Sort of like with the 130/90 tire combo, being you went with more diameter and a little narrower tire??

No "brand name" on mine. All it has is a tag on the side that says thinsulate 40g.

Mike unfortunatly I could not recomend the ones I have. Not bad for Fla but really how cold we get here they are mediocar at best. Also in heavy rain I swear I have more water sometimes on the inside than if I rode bare handed. I'll look up the make here when I get a chance. I have in the past carried a couple pairs of the blue nirtle gloves in the saddlebag and put them on in the cold then another pair of gloves and it seems to seal out the cold better. Good luck on your hunt.

I got something from pay-pal a couple weeks ago. Something about they needed me to update info etc, click a link. Well I was at a hotel so I went to the link. Funny thing they send you an e-mail but yet you have to log into your account and it just didnt seem right. I closed out and got off internet. An hour or so later I went to actual pay-pal site and changed my PW just to be on safe side. I often wonder if these folks spent half as much time doing legal work what could they accomplish.

Per the owners manual pg 4-11. "Your Yamaha engine has been designed to use regular unleaded gasoline with a pump octane nuber of (r+m)/2 86 or higher or a research octane number of 91 or higher" I'm pretty sure anymore all pumps have the first method of octane rating anymore. So 86 is your key number

Mike I have a pair of tourmaster wet weather gloves. I think they are tourmasters anyways. Suposed to be a "cool" rather than cold weather glove I would say. They have some insulation but if its in the 40's and you ride 2hr or so my hands are cold. They are the rayon type stuff tops and bottoms. This ocasionaly presents a problem as you hand slips on the grips and once in awhile it gives me fits on the clutch. The ones your looking at there look OK to me. Only thing I see missing you might want in a wet weather glove is the visor squegee thing on the thumb.

Soooo didnt I read somewhere that the lens has to be seperated on the 2nd gen. Then youll have to figure out how to secure it. Or is gorilla glue going to be the answer?

I would take a guess if its the orginals from 08 the tires could be as old as 07 build date. So on an oval near the bead you should find a code. Search on here and you can find a thread or 2 about tire age and build dates. My 09 had Dunlap e-3s as far as I know. AS was mentioned depends on where it was on assembly. Typicaly they buy tires in batches, when that batch or contract bunch runs out they go to the next.

Will not buy Citgo gas unless I'm pushing what I'm suposed to be driving. That Veneusalan DIctator bought it and he hates us, not our money though. Guess he got his in the end here last week.

I'm looking at a simular trip only in Sept.I was trying to get a feel for the weather then also. If you have rain gear that is the "standard" type poly/rayon or whatever it will give you some wind protection above what the Froggs will I belive. If thats what you have then I dont think you need chaps. I too think layers is the way to go, does your mesh jacket have the liner? Long sleeve t-shirts are a good base over the newer type wicker shirts. Sweat shirt under you jacket. My legs on this bike haven been a problem really getting cold with the lowers on the crash bars. A tire plug kit with a way to inflate the flat if need be. I have one of the things that uses the c02 cartridge. Good luck and report back please. I am in the center of the state and was looking at the I-75 to I-26 charlotte to 81 route to around saracuse route. I have a buddy that lives in NC that I would pick up when I got there.

Was stationed in Altus. Alot of years riding out that way. Mostly Witcha Falls Tx, Eltra Amarillo (by morning) OKC Lawton.Summers were really hot. WE rode with the Altus Road Riders, now called tornado alley road riders I guess, or thats sort of what it became. I can see up where your at you do get a good choice of what to go run. Enjoy and I hope you all have a great meeting.
