  1. Both the aftermarket VentureLine dual exhaust tip and the OEM single exhaust tip are held on with the springs and a friction fit rubber(y) sleeve between the muffler and the tip. Remove the springs and start twisting and pulling. Maybe some penetrating lubricant to assist in breaking the bond created by heat and time. Oh, and double check for some small obscure fastener that the PO may have installed. There was no fastener normally, but someone may have added one, especially if they neglected to use the rubber sleeve.
  2. You can 'rekon' all you want, but you wouldn't be correct. Keep looking!
  3. No I never had one as a kid. If I had, I probably wouldn't be around today to talk about it. Like I said in an earlier post, I've hacked your computer and can see what you are going to post.
  4. I've been in love with the Yamaha Venture since my first one in 1985. It was a 1983 Royale. The only thing I missed was the lack of a cruise control on the '83. Toured many miles with that first Royale. Loved it. Loved it even more than the '90, but the '90 was really the ultimate, most comfortable touring bike I've ever had.
  5. Another fast white one:

  7. Here's a weird bike I've never seen before. It was actually produced:
  8. Everything I found says it has a 500cc Kawasaki triple: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_DSxXDMnKcNk/R8-qjeCVmLI/AAAAAAAAATU/b1fkrCh_iN0/s400/mini-bike-500cc-1.jpghttp://1.bp.blogspot.com/_DSxXDMnKcNk/R8-qjuCVmMI/AAAAAAAAATc/eyUgpszINOw/s400/mini-bike-500cc-2.jpghttp://img264.imageshack.us/img264/7591/oldcomputor153fs3.jpg I haven't been able to find out who built it. Perhaps 'Gary aka Triple obsession'? Although it looks like a drag bike, it is used as a pit/tow bike for a REAL drag bike. http://triplescanada.proboards.com/thread/517/pics-race-bikes
  9. Almost twenty-four hours and no guesses? OK, a hint seems to be in order: It is small. As in mini-moto small.
  10. Happy Birfday, Mike! The Big 60!? OMG.
  11. Go here to get your personalized map: http://www.epgsoft.com/VisitedStatesMap/ Follow directions and your map will be saved on your computer. I suggest you save your map to the desktop, just to make it easier to find later. Following the download to your computer of the desired map, go to your user CP on VentureRider site and edit your signature to include the map image.
  12. The difference between 158 and 194: 194 has a longer life and slightly higher current draw (0.27 vs 0.24). The LED lights that you put in, draw even less, so no, that didn't 'kill' the CMS. But LED lights are polarity sensitive, ie; they only work when the correct polarity is applied. If you find one that doesn't work, pull it out and rotate the base 180° and reinsert.
  13. My word! What is hooked to the FORTY amp fuse?!!
  14. Yes, there are some cheap prices for those trailers. But, the consensus out in the internet sphere is that the quality is pretty poor. These particular trailers (there are others doing the same thing) are all made in China as knockoffs of American manufacturers. Buyer beware and 'you gets whats ya pay for'. Just saying.
  15. There are no fuses behind the headlight in an unmodified stock Venture. The main fuse panel on top of the battery, an auxiliary fuse block in front of the battery and the CLASS fuse holder are the only fuses on a stock First Gen. To help determine what those four in-line fuses are protecting, pull the fuse from each and determine what doesn't work any longer. (BTW, there are no 'in-line' fuses on a stock Venture, if you exclude the CLASS fuse holder; although it is an 'in-line' fuse holder, it is unlike any in-line fuse holder you would find commercially).
  16. WoW! Really, really fast! The fuel injector throttle bodies ended up the roof of the house! WoW.
  17. Apparently, Maybeline has passed the baton. I will take it and run with this:
  18. Conrad, why can you not post up a pic for us to guess? Good find, BTW for the MV Agusta prototype and the Snake Motors Teke Teke.
  19. Gary, do you suppose this is the correct manual? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/manuel-YAMAHA-SPECIAL-TOOL-and-ELECTRO-TESTER-de-1970-/281084940912?pt=FR_JG_Moto_Manuels&hash=item4171f7d270
  20. Here's a pic of the Yamaha 'Electro Tester'. Just FYI: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-EpZKld6dsU4/Tgtv2vPMEyI/AAAAAAAAAF4/Ia-9EF9GanQ/s1600/Picture+010.jpg Primarily it is a spark gap tester. Spark gap testers are available everywhere and for I suspect much less money than from Yamaha. Perhaps those cheaper ones will not be as sophisticated or 'cool' but they will do the same thing. Here's a shot of the instruction graphics inside the lid. http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/m0oAAMXQDnpTb-cT/$_57.JPG
  21. Thanks, Scott. I found "The Trike Life" on eBay, based in Florida. And they are selling the DNA rear end here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Trike-Rearend-DNA-Axle-Honda-Harley-Davidson-Kawasaki-Suzuki-Limited-Slip-Dif-/271221505673 So, that answers several questions for me. Thanks again.
  22. Yeah, maybe, but the Puc rear end doesn't look like the US made Paughco, it looks like the Chinese Paughco.
  23. On the Venture carbs, screwing the pilot screws out (counterclockwise) enrichens the pilot (idle) circuit.
  24. Thanks for continuing to play, Steve. Check this one out and good luck!
