  1. The plastic adjusting nut is captured in the mounting bracket by tangs. Using needle nose pliers, squeeze the tangs to release the switch from the bracket. http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NDgwWDY0MA==/z/yFUAAOxy4kpRAdbm/$%28KGrHqV,%21oEFCyPWfZ7MBR%21dbmckww%7E%7E60_12.JPGhttp://pinwall2.pinwallcycle.com/ebay/bike5751/844.jpg
  2. Apparently the "Peggy" with just two mutual friends was the fake, 'cuz the page linked above is gone.
  3. So. How do we know which Peggy is the real Peggy? Is this the real Yama Mama or the fake?: https://www.facebook.com/peggyann.pahneryerger?hc_location=friend_browser&fref=pymk This Peggy only has two mutual friends. Seems like it may not be the real Peggy. OTOH this Peggy seems more likely the real Peggy with 24 mutual friends: https://www.facebook.com/peggy.yerger?fref=ts
  4. According to my go to source: http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/yamaha/Y-26H-14933-00-00.html 1983 Spring: 26H-14933-00-00 1984 Spring: 41R-14933-00-00 But the same source says the 41R is used in the 1983. http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/yamaha/Y-41R-14933-00-00.html
  5. One suggestion, Randy. Modify your search string to include: "-fits" (without the quotes). Seems eBay automatically labels junk as "fitting" a Yamaha Venture. The word "fits" is in many of these product headings. Also: search only in "North America". That eliminates much of the junk from China, Hong Kong, etc.
  6. The '83-'85 final drive housings have a 'starburst' pattern to the exterior reinforcing ribs. The '86-'93 are much smoother and less busy in appearance.
  7. Maybe not in your household, but if I call Debbie a *****, there WILL be some cuss words in response. So, yeah, it's a cuss word by association.
  8. Listening to Neil Young as I type.
  9. OIC. Duh! Sorry. I didn't see that you had a Second Gen in addition to the First Gen.
  10. Rusty, I don't understand. Why did you replace the OEM centerstand on your First Gen with a RIVCO?
  11. Closest I can come to a 1952 Yamaha Venture is the first Yamaha. It was introduced in 1952. I don't think Deb would appreciate the pillion. And no cassette player...yet! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2c/Yamaha_YA-1_00.jpg
  12. You want a Venture "born" the same month and year as you? Novel. Good luck. I like the idea. Too bad Ventures were not being built in 1952.
  13. Memories: "Horse with no name". Oh, Yeah!
  14. I have their first album. http://moneymusic.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Fleetwood-Mac.jpg Circa 1969:http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Hj4neqKqbSw/Si1ObKN6yzI/AAAAAAAAA8Q/ZH7licNC3jU/s400/fleetwoodmac.jpg But this "poll" is for the Seventies and I much prefer the Fleetwood Mac of the Seventies. I don't think Grace Slick was ever part of Fleetwood Mac. Do you mean Stevie Nicks?
  15. Geeze! Best recollection of 1970's songs? The Seventies is when I got my first stereo and my first car (with 8 track) and my first REAL girlfriend and the beginning of my love for: Kansas Boston Bachman Turner Overdrive Steve Miller Band Chicago Eagles Foreigner Fleetwood Mac Santana Neil Diamond Gordon Lightfoot etc., etc. The memories. Especially the "summer of '72".
  16. Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons: "Let's Hang On", "Sherry", "Walk Like a Man". If that is not "Rock and Roll" enough, then Santana's "Evil Ways".
  17. Dirt? You didn't take the Apache Trail to Roosevelt Dam did you? As for the whine in the rear area that changes when leaning around curves; my '90 did that too. It started doing it while on our New England trip and I was not able to define the cause before we were wrecked, but I am of the opinion it was either the left rear wheel bearing or the final drive. Mine only whined when leaning left. It wasn't very noticeable (Debbie never heard it) but I could hear it at 40-50 mph when taking moderate curves. When you get time, pull the rear wheel and clean and lube everything you can get to without pulling the final drive. And change the final drive oil.
  18. True, but you can still get the Progressive shock here: http://www.jpcycles.com/product/700-0015 And here, for a bit less dollars: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-Suspension-Series-Monotube-Shocks/dp/B00383HGBC]Amazon.com: Progressive Suspension 465 Series Monotube Shocks - Stock Length 465-1114: Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31a442yKD%2BL.@@AMEPARAM@@31a442yKD%2BL[/ame] http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Progressive-465-Rear-Shock-Yamaha-Venture-83-84-85-86-87-88-89-90-91-92-93-/130493199499?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e6200348b&vxp=mtr
  19. Been lonely Steve? No one wants to play anymore? I've been gone for a few weeks without internet connection. Here's a rare bike.
  20. Mid Sixties Bridgestone 175 Hurricane Scrambler http://images.motorcycle-usa.com/PhotoGallerys/Bridgestone-hurricane-5.jpg
  21. I am interested in the 'hose forming' process. Care to elaborate on the method?
  22. ATGATT. Even in 90º temperatures, if we are riding, we have leather jackets, chaps, gloves, heavy boots and ¾ helmet (hers), full face (mine). When we got wrecked in Ohio last summer, we had all the above gear on, even though it was 86º. Thanks to the ruined gear, almost all our skin was saved and noggins were unscathed. Can't say the same for our gear. All of the leather was scuffed, torn. My leather jacket and Deb's chaps were worn through. Deb's faceshield was gouged. (She is now shopping a full face.) Believe you me, sliding down the pavement (and rumble strips) at 65 mph will make you a devout follower of the ATGATT. And for those who maintain that a short jaunt around town won't require ATGATT, I submit that we were on a local road, having just left a gas stop, on our way to the State Park just 15 miles down the road, when the impatient commuter cut me off on a four lane road and ruined my bike, trailer and vacation. As for the 'comfort' argument: how comfortable will you be while recuperating from skin grafts, peeled foot soles or fractured skull?
  23. Yes, the 1990-1993 OEM TCI are interchangeable and supposedly the same, but something must have been changed between 1990 and 1991, for I have yet to hear of the hiccup after the 1990. And yes, they are the most difficult to find.
  24. How long will it take to get to Sturgis from Texas on the Ural?
