Contact Cement. Available at Home Depot in a small bottle with applicator. Or at auto parts stores in a small tube. It is an instant fix. Mike

NFL to not allow armed off duty officers at games

Yes. One of the window bashers. And there were two others there also. Mike -
Randy Miko and I are so sorry to hear of your and Linda's problem. As the recipient of a triple bypass myself I can tell you first hand that we are fortunate to live in a era where these things are repairable. Even though is is frightening going in there is every reason to hope for and believe in a positive outcome. We truly wish you both all the best. Mike & Miko

What does the backup fuse do?
MikeWa replied to easy-rogere's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The 'back up fuse' is the same as 'keep alive' in automotive. There is no internal battery as in your PC or lap top computer. So a separate memory maintainer circuit is used. This keep alive circuit has a separate fuse called the 'back-up' on the Venture. Mike -
I mounted my CD changer vertically in the trunk. I use it all the time. It does suffer when the roads are rough. That's when the cassette comes in handy. Mike As in this photo

He is running a business from his home and UPS dropped the package by his fence? What does he do? Keep the fence closed during business hours? On a day he should have known the package was arriving? OK I feel for the buyer getting a package ripped off But UPS shipping information provides the delivery day. UPS usually delivers to businesses first. So why wasn't the gate open for them? Has UPS never delivered to this business before? I am sympathetic to both the seller and the buyer in this case. Not so much to the thief or UPS if the gate was open. Mike

Say. Is that a Subaru engine? Is this thing made in Taiwan? Where is the machine gun? What caliber? Mike
-
Since he knows it was delivered your part is done. It is now an argument between him, the person who ran off with the package and UPS. The package was stolen from him not you. You have no obligation to insure it beyond delivery. In the future send UPS 'signature required'. As a side note I am left with a lot of questions. Package dropped over a fence? Why? How did the person who ran off with it get over the fence? How does the recipient know UPS dropped the package over the fence? ETC etc etc. Mike

Installed Earl's Clutch Kit - problem

The pressure plate must be rotated until it drops into place. You should be able to start the bolts easily by hand. Mike -
7JuRock lower wind deflectors
MikeWa replied to Bert2006's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I glued a small rubber tip on the bottom of the deflector. Between it and the strut. My hope is that the rubber will reduce the flexing and stress on the bracket. These little rubber tips are available at the hardware store. Mike -

When you fill the battery with fresh electrolyte it is 100% charged. That is the most acidic the fluid will ever be. As the battery sits the sulfuric acid in the fluid decreases. Using the battery decreases it faster. As the fluid turns to water the battery power, charge, is diminished until it no longer performs it's purpose. That is why a discharged battery will freeze when a charged one does not. The electrolyte is turned to water in a discharged battery. Recharging the battery restores the acid to the fluid making the battery serviceable again. However the battery will never reach the level it had after the initial filling of the battery. It is not necessary to charge the battery when you initially fill it as the maximum amount of acid is already in the fluid. Mike

If you are going to use a crimp remove the yellow jacket and solder after crimping. Then double heat shrink. I prefer a marine heat shrink which has sealer built in to it. This is not a place where you want any chance of a connection coming loose. Mike

Tire rotation is backwards
MikeWa replied to hydraulicman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I agree with the ply wrapping. I have been told the rear tire gets it's most stress during acceleration while the front gets it's most stress during breaking. So the plys are wrapped different for the front vs rear. For this reason you should reverse a rear tire used on the front or front used on the rear. I don't know if it is true or not but it make sense to me. Mike -
I purchased two new computers with Windows 8. I used one for three days and sent both back. I absolutely hated the Windows 8 system and will not own another device with it. I also e-mailed Microsoft and let them know how disgusted I am with the Windows 8 operating system. Mike

bad regulator or my bad
MikeWa replied to sendaro_99's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
There is high temperature and regular temperature dielectric grease. That said for the connection to get hot enough to set the grease on fire it would have to be hot enough to melt or ignite the plastic connector. So I doubt the dielectric caused anything. It sounds like a short circuit occurred. Perhaps in the rectifier, the stator or the wiring in between. A careful inspection is in order so as not to repeat the performance. Mike -
Unless you want to overwhelm everyone else you are riding with I would recommend limiting yourself to about a 15 watt linear amp. 10 watts would be even better. If you can find a cb shop still in business in your area go and talk to them. Let them know you need the amp for additional range when riding in the desert in Mexico. Although amps are installed all the time anything over 4.25 watts is illegal in the US. I took the cover off my cb and adjusted the rf output up to max. It helped a little but not that much. I didn't have a scope to bump the modulation. The Harleys seem to transmit better than the Ventures. It's possible that is because the Harleys have a ground plate for the antenna under the trunk and the Venture does not. Some day when I have my trunk off I will install a ground plate just to see what happens. If it helps I will report it on these forums. Mike
