  1. I would much rather see the money waisted on enforcement used for treatment programs. I am constantly amazed that people cannot get help (treatment) when they need it. Mike
  2. Prayers for a speedy recovery sent. Mike
  3. I got the call. So I asked the caller to hold a second while I turned my computer on. Which I didn't do. I went back in a couple of minutes and asked him to continue to hold while my computer was still booting up. Must be the virus they were calling about making it slow. All in all I was able to keep the idiot on the line for over 40 minutes. He finally hung up when I started picking up the phone and asking "are you still there dummy, hold on just a little longer". Three times. It was kind of fun. Mike
  4. I don't think riding off the center stand is a good idea with a 2nd gen. I used to do it all the time with my old Honda 350. But somehow it doesn't seem wise on the RSV. Mike
  5. Now that you have found your blown fuse. If you have passing lights check to make sure the wires are not getting pinched when you make a full left turn or when you park the bike. Mike
  6. George As far as I know there was no stock 2nd gen center stand. I have the Rivco on my bike and it works quite well. The first couple of times using it were sort of harrowing. I didn't think it would work but it does. I just needed to have faith and go for it. I do have pics with a ruler for measurements. PM me your e-mail if these are to small. Or if you want you can come by and take a look at my bike. 7. It is the same flasher series although there may be different sequences. I don't know if they are all interchangeable. I have ordered two of these with different sequence numbers. So I guess I will find out. My plan is to modify one so it has an adjustable flasher speed for my RSV. Mike
  8. Ok found the answer on the other forum. Mike
  9. I think it should be the Internal Revenue Service that enforces the federal motorcycle helmet laws. Couldn't you just see the federal tax agents on motorcycles stopping wayward bikers and Hells Angels for helmet violations. Mike
  10. Well, which part of the stand was dragging?? When I put the Rivco center stand on my 08 I discovered the foot on the right side would drag before the floor board. I was concerned the foot might anchor and flip me during a turn. So I ground the leading edge of the lip off of the foot. It is now flush with the leg on the front right side. It hasn't dragged since but even if it does it can't anchor. Mike
  11. Does anyone know if the RSV flasher is the same as a Denso FB257H? Thanks Mike
  12. You could probably just use another cb antenna for the am/fm. Mike

    Got Rice??

I tried it but all I had was a beer bottle. Didn't work worth a crap. The bottles kept breaking. Did you ever try to cut a bottle with a pocket knife? Mike
  14. If the whine has gotten worse get that oil out of there. These bikes seem to be oil sensitive. With no common denominator. This happened to mine after an oil change. Then even after switching back to Yamalube it took quite a few miles for the whine to subside. Mike
  15. Fuses should not get hot. They should blow first. Are the wires feeding the fuse getting hot? If not the connections at the fuse may be corroded. Clean them and see what happens. If the wires are getting hot replace the fuse with one that works. Then reduce the load to the circuit. Relays are a good possibility. Mike
  16. I use amber passing lamps and like them especially in fog. But they are not good for headlights. Mike
  17. Yes you can wire the lights without a relay. Mine are wired to the low beams for less load on the light circuit. Just follow the wiring instructions that came with the lights. When routing the wires to behind the fairing be very carefull. Route them behind the fairing support bar (harder). If you route them in front of the support (easier) they can be pinched when the wheel is fully turned to the left. As when parking the bike. This can short out your lights and blow the fuse. If you are going to connect them to the high beam I highly recomment a relay. In fact I recomment a relay period. As it greatly reduces the load on your ignition and light switchs. Any four terminal fog light or defogger relay should work. Mike
  18. If you put one end of the saddle bag guard in a vise and pull the other you can easily straighten it to line up with the trunk striping. No drilling needed. Mike
  19. We are wishing you the best possible outcome. Mike
  20. Eck There is no corner for you. Where ever you are becomes the center. Mike
  21. Yes GPS, fuel injection, air bags and abs. Four models with different options and four colors. Ipod, heated grips, xm radio. How does that compare to no options and one color carbureted? What is Honda thinking?
  22. With Goldwing, Victory, Harley, Kawasaki and now Indian all doing well in the large bike market I just can't picture Yamaha getting out of it. But who knows. They built the best Touring bike of it's time and then just let it flounder for years. Of course it would help if they listened to their customers and learn the meaning if I-N-C-R-E-M-E-N-T-A-L. Mike
