Hey guys, So I think I found my next bike. Its gonna be a 1989 Yamaha Venture Royale with that beautiful 2 tone dark cherry paint job. It has 22k miles and the person I'm buying it from is the second owner. He's owned it for 7 years in those 7 years he's put on about 5 thousand miles. It runs good, its never been dropped, and its always been garage kept. It looks like a sweet bike. I'm just looking for a little guidance on things I can do to make her last me the summer before I do the REAL maintenance stuff. I'm looking for things like changing the clutch/brake fluid which I'll do. She's gonna get quite a bit of seafoam in those first thousand miles. This bike is pristine So i'd rather not take it apart if I can help it!

Its when you get the playful nicknames that you KNOW you fit right in! Congratulations on her being your Fiance By the way! I hope you guys have many happy years and MANY happy miles!

I've actually got a post with my xrays on here somewhere. Broke a couple bones in my wrist, and alot of bleeding in my elbow. That was January 28th and I honestly couldnt feel better. As for the Royal Star, no I'm not going to get one of those again... I'm going to get an 89 Venture Royale I really cant see myself owning anything other than a venture at the moment. I figure I'll make the bank happier with a cheaper bike and I think I prefer the solid mount fairing a little more than the Batwing.

You guys sure know how to make somebody feel welcome! So is a Freebird MD when we all gather around and watch @Freebird do his yearly ground up rebuild of that Hardly? :witch_brew:

Hes just a basic run of the mill cockatiel. I'll get a few pictures up latter. He'll live to be about 15 but he is definitely my buddy. He loves having his chin scratched and every morning he likes to greet the world with the Addams family theme song. Just yesterday I got him a friend. Another little cockatiel and I don't know what to name her. I was thinking Roberta so I can have Bert and Ernie

So is anyone going to mind if I just show up?! lol:missingtooth:

Well I had the chance to say goodbye to my girl one last time before they take her tomorrow. She was sitting on her sidestand, and I had dad hold her up so I could shake the bike back and fourth one last time to try and figure out what went wrong. I noticed the back tire was extreemly squishy like it had only 15 or so PSI in it. Could I have possibly picked up a leak on the ride and hitting an uneven patch of road at high speed (70)mph had cause my accident? I stupidly didnt check the tire pressure before I left, but I also hit 110mph on it that day and didnt have any trouble. Everything else seemed tight which makes me a little more confident in my mechanic skills again. I think from now on I'm going to run bike tires specifically for the fact that the sidewalls on bike tires will just generally hold up alot better if the tire goes flat. A day before my accident my dad, while in texas going down the interstate at 70 with no helmet had his tire go almost completely flat while puling a trailer.. He said he didnt even notice, the only thing he noticed was the smell. I would really hate to say anything against Darksiding though, because I did only get one ride in. I probably wont go darkside again... I guess i'll just have to change my back tire every 6K miles..... Unrelated note, although the bike was stuck in 5th (because the footpeg and the shifter became one piece) I pulled in the clutch, kicked the kickstand up and to my surprise she turned over. I tried pulling the choke, but thats when I realized the choke levers had popped off and It seemed froze up. I think it is still in riding shape honestly, so maybe the insurance will make a little money back on it, which I hope they do. Dairyland has treated me very well on this and they are extremely polite, kind people to work with. Just needed to vent for a little while tonight! I'm sure gonna miss my good friend of 2 years....

Thats so cool that you take him on the bike with you! I have to say that a whole new chapter of my life opened up once I found out how fantastic birds can be. They really do know that they're in charge though dont they! Ernicio loves going for rides in the pickup too, He just gets a kick out of the whole situation! When my pets are all gone, I'm going to invest in a single, larger bird for myself. Something that'll be like bringing around my 5 year old child with me! What kind of bird is he?

Oh yeah zelda is one of the greatest franchises out there! Yeah, i'm a solo campaign guy as well. I pretty much quit playing online, thats why I dont like destiny. Its always online

Talking about racing games. I fell in LOVE with Forza 5 on the xbox one. Its crazy because the graphics are nearly lifelike and the gas and brake triggers vibrate. You dont realize how much of a game changer that can be when you shut all the assists off. That is probably my favorite xbox one game so far besides Halo MCC edition. I'm a huge halo freak, not because of the online but because of the story. And PBJman, take your time before you move into the next gen, both systems have alot of frusterating issues to work out, but if i can make a suggestion, if you do finally get an xbox one, DEFINITELY get it with the connect, WOWZA what a cool thing!
-
Hey PBJman you can add me on xbox live if you like. I got dishonored for free and thought it was pretty fun! You can add me at CJ AKA CHIEF I've got a 360 and an xbox one so let me know!

Congratulations!!! Nothing beats little children thats for sure!

The only thing about the 2013 ( i know your not a serious buyer) is how long those little 3.5L ecoboosts hold up. They are a really new design and until tere are millions of them out there you may not know how dependable it is.

Hahahaha!!!!! That was pretty funny I'll give you that!!!

I've got my eye out for an older, low mileage venture. The way I look at it, mechanically the age shouldnt (i hope) effect the engine parts. I think most engine wear is done by miles. That being said though, things like ignition coils and other sensitive electronic dudads would be more effected by age. I guess the valve springs could be effected by age though too. My biggest concern with getting an older Venture would be having an old ignition coil suddenly go out because of how fine the copper is. I havent owned a vehicle less than ten years old though, so my opinion isnt the most educated just blabbing to blab
