  1. You're right the torx bit idea does work, but i've gone in too far and drilled through. I got the head out but I need to get the rest out. Any ideas on how to get the rest out of there?
  2. Ok I got the head off! Now how do I get the guts out?
  3. Yeah we can do that! They spliced the plug that goes to the speakers though so I need to get up to randolph and do a continuity check on all the wires first, and if the plug is fine then I'll PM you!
  4. So I got my plan, I'm going to hit the little bastard with my BFH!

    Hey Puc

Hopefully they get you sorted out puc, you still got another million miles to put on these ventures!!!
  6. How much would you like for it my good sir
  7. That's what I was thinking too, all of the good old songs actually USED stereo!!! I'll just have to get an aMplifier? Is the amp on an 83 the same as on an 88
  8. I haven't yet, but I think the head is too damaged to get a grip
  9. Just called the dealership and found out they have a jet in stock for 8 bucks
  10. Thanks for the advice guys, I think I'm going to try the torx bit method first. Then I'll work on drilling it if need be. If I can get it backed out far enough to work properly that will make me happy. So when you drilled it out and tapped it I assume you had to replace the screw. Where did you get yours from?
  11. Hey guys, I put some shims under the plugs for my radio hoping that would give me an easy solution to not having my right speaker work. Only the left works with the radio AND the CB. Also only the left speaker works in the headset too. I hardly use the headset, and I'm not above jumping the left and right speaker together. I can even do this with the headset and wont be too upset by it. I guess Im just wondering if any of you had have similar problems? Also if I jumper the two speakers am I going to lose power to them? I have a hard time hearing the radio with only the left speaker working, and I'm a bit of a music nut so I needs the radio!!!! Any suggestions guys?!?!?!
  12. Ask @cowpuc about this. I think when the temps drop these old girls have a tendency to weep a little, just normal venture stuff in my opinion!
  13. Hey guys, I think I have a stuck pilot screw, I think It may be bottomed out into the carb. I can get a good hold on it to turn it right, but not to turn it left. Now being that brass is a soft metal, would it be possible to sharpen a screw driver, and lightly tap it into the brass to make the notch deeper? I'm not too terribly excited about trying to drill it out, and I have thought about getting a left hand drill bit, but I want to try some other ways first. On this thread from awhile ago I saw someone actually removed part of the carb and used a dremel to make a new and deeper knotch for the screwdriver to set in. Thinking about doing that, heres the link http://www.venturerider.org/forum/general-tech-talk/88384-stuck-pilot-adj-screws.html So now I'm looking for Ideas, so if any of you guys have them, let er rip! Thanks again -CJ
  14. Sorry for posting in the watering hole Eck, I only did it to get a quicker response!
  15. Thanks MiCarl! I'm just trying to decide how best to drive the new seals on. Any ideas?
  16. Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you have put the fork seals on the lower fork tubes and then slid it onto the uppers. In randolph I have few options for getting pvc piping and that sort of thing and I've read you can install the seals on the lowers, you just have to be patient and very careful. Have any of you guys done this with any success?
  17. Maybe a pin got bent on the main connector on the radio
  18. If I run into any snags tomorrow can I call you? I much prefer learning over the phone!
  19. At 60 my bike runs around 3700 and you can't even feel or hear it
  20. Time to get out the saws all and make a venture windshield shaped shaped door frame
  21. Ok cool! I was just wondering because I plan to leave my spacers out when I do my springs so I have an excuse to use my CLASS system. Thanks for the quick reply

    Memories

That is too cool! In my opinion that was the glory days of bikes. I know its in a completely different boat but it reminds me of my TS400 2Stroke that was stolen last fall. Man they need to bring 2 strokes back!!!
  23. Now correct me if I'm wrong here but aren't you missing the white spacers in the picture with your progressives?
  24. Do you have any instructions on how to repair that female pin
