1. Probably the most sick and twisted and cruel thing I've ever endured
2. Did you ever get the noise figured out
3. to bring up an old post but have you figured out what caused this? My 88 does that, and I think its just gear lash but I'm not sure
4. Well @dingy, I didn't get your measurements, but I got something better... Pictures! (Maybe they're not better) Yeah, what I did was drilled too far, well past the head. I had completely removed The head and didn't bugger up the threads, Thanks for the suggestion by the way with the torx bit! Worked perfectly, just my error of drilling too far. So basically all I had to do was get the rets of the bits out. So I just took a teeny tiiiny drill bit, don't remember which one and drilled into the stem with a little pressure, and just pulled the rest out. So I got the new one in, and its running great. Totally happy with it! I just wanted to say thanks for all the advice guys its really much appreciated it. If I didn't bugger it up so bad at first It wouldn't have been a big deal, but I got it out! What do you guys think of the temp gauge by the w
5. Just crossed 800 myself
6. Lol I agree with you on the impact driver thing, I think those threads are tougher than we give them credit for. I wouldve tried an impact driver but I already buggered up the head too bad. When I tried the torx bit it actually worked pretty well and I HAD to hit on it pretty hard with my LFH (little friggin hammer). Now I'm going to try an easy out since I got the head, or at least most of it out. I think these guys just get a nightmarish mental image of me pounding on the bad boy with my BFH And ruining a perfectly good carb body! They're just trying to help just like you and I really appreciate the help you guys have ALL given to me!
7. I've ridden on the back with Dad for many, many miles. I think it helped to mold me into who I am today and I think it is great to get kids into travel rather than video games and TV. I think after a few short rides your confidence will go up along with her experience and I think you'll have a great time
8. To me the only true danger of a mobile home would not be having a basement.
9. I can do that right away tomorrow. I tried pulling the jet screw out by doing only so far into it and tapping a torx bit into it. I drilled too far and managed to pull the threads out. So I'm pretty sure there is no head on the screw anymore
10. I guess where my problem is is that the threaded part of the jet is gone. I should just be able to pull out the rest of it right?
11. So we're talking teeny tiny torx bits! Does any one know what the size of the pilot screw stem is? I've got the head off and didn't bugger up the threads
12. Ok so I had it centered on the pilot screw until I took the head out. Now do I have to re center it on the stem of the pilot screw and drill into that? I just figured as soon as I got the head off the rest would follow
13. You're right the torx bit idea does work, but i've gone in too far and drilled through. I got the head out but I need to get the rest out. Any ideas on how to get the rest out of there?
14. Ok I got the head off! Now how do I get the guts out?
15. Yeah we can do that! They spliced the plug that goes to the speakers though so I need to get up to randolph and do a continuity check on all the wires first, and if the plug is fine then I'll PM you!
16. So I got my plan, I'm going to hit the little bastard with my BFH!

Hey Puc

Hopefully they get you sorted out puc, you still got another million miles to put on these ventures!!!
18. How much would you like for it my good sir
19. That's what I was thinking too, all of the good old songs actually USED stereo!!! I'll just have to get an aMplifier? Is the amp on an 83 the same as on an 88
20. I haven't yet, but I think the head is too damaged to get a grip
21. Just called the dealership and found out they have a jet in stock for 8 bucks
22. Thanks for the advice guys, I think I'm going to try the torx bit method first. Then I'll work on drilling it if need be. If I can get it backed out far enough to work properly that will make me happy. So when you drilled it out and tapped it I assume you had to replace the screw. Where did you get yours from?
23. Hey guys, I put some shims under the plugs for my radio hoping that would give me an easy solution to not having my right speaker work. Only the left works with the radio AND the CB. Also only the left speaker works in the headset too. I hardly use the headset, and I'm not above jumping the left and right speaker together. I can even do this with the headset and wont be too upset by it. I guess Im just wondering if any of you had have similar problems? Also if I jumper the two speakers am I going to lose power to them? I have a hard time hearing the radio with only the left speaker working, and I'm a bit of a music nut so I needs the radio!!!! Any suggestions guys?!?!?!
