1. ive been trying for days! I originally wanted to post this 2 days ago
2. Am I the only one who gets an error message when I try to upload pictures? I've done it before and I cant think of anything I'm doing wrong? Help?!?!
3. Well since I got my new tire on and have been healthy enough to ride I just wanted to brag and say I've got more than 500 miles on already! Monday my brother, dad, and I all hopped on the bikes and rode to columbus to buy dad lunch for his birthday. We did a little riding around and then my brother and I decided to wash the bikes for the first time of the year. I rode around off and on by myself for the week and then friday my friends Jon and Matt rode our scoots up to sioux city. Jon left us at sioux city and matt and I continued north on I-29 for about 20 miles. Man the crosswinds on that road were something else. We had a steady 30mph wind that day and we went through one of the worst gusts of wind I've ever seen. It probably was worse. It actually picked up chunks CHUNKS of sod and pelted us with it. I'm glad I wasnt trying to do the 80mph speed limit because I would've more than likely had been pushed off the road. So after that we got off the interstate at the nearest exit and headed toward vermillion. We went through vermillion on headed home on Highway 12 and 15. We fought the wind for the rest of the day but all in all had a great ride. Yesterday I went out for a ride by myself and put about 100 miles on.
4. Just wanted to say that the I loved the wide windscreen I got for my RSV. I only got to test it once, but it was a plenty breezy day and I loved the extra protection!!!
5. Do you elevate it every night? I learned right away that elevation is SUPER important
6. Yeah I saw this on Yahoo. I wasnt surprised at all to see the Jap bikes at the top of the list for more reliable. The thing that surprises me is that most of the Jap bikes being sold are crotch rockets that spend their entire life being beaten. They must be pretty tough little bikes!
7. I agree with you there, if you're in a storm warning and you hear your drains start making that sucking sound you had better be in for a rough 15 minutes!
8. Wow sounds like you were super rough shape! That is scaaaryy! Glad to hear you're coming around though, and hopefully they get you fixed up right! You're lucky to have a good wife that called the ambulance for you right away! That is far scarier than anything I've ever gone through. Best of luck on a full recovery!
9. Really sorry about your accident! I see you're from nebraska too, its been a rough year for us Nebraskans wreck wise! Honestly, one thing that noone's said so far is pictures. I would certainly take ALOT of pictures of the bike, his car, and you. I understand why you guys wouldn't want to get the insurance involved, but it may just come down to it. So documentations going to be good. About the bump, the only thing I can say is you SHOULD go to the hospital... I turned down the ambulance ride after my wreck and by the time we had gotten to Norfolk, 40 miles away and about an hour and a half later, I was sort of regretting not taking the ambulance. I had a huge welt on my leg as well and they told me I may have broken a shin. The worst thing I can see coming from your leg is what happened to my elbow. I didnt break but I had a hematoma on it about the size of the softball which REALLY REALLY hurt! So thats kind of up to you. Sad thing is everyone makes mistakes, but insurance is there FOR THE MISTAKES. If the dad would offer me 2k for the bike, but doesnt want to get insurance involved, make sure you're not going to need a two thousand dollar cast on your leg. If you're healthy enough, I'd certainly take the 2k. Like i said though, sorry about your wreck! Thats one of those that is TOTALLY unavoidable by you and really just bad luck! I hope to see you back on the road with a big grin on your face soon!
10. Hey now you're not that young!!! I think I could point out the youngest guy on the site!
11. Hey guys, I need to replace the O-Ring on my thermostat housing and like any good mechanic, I feel like i should replace the thermostat too. Yamaha wants 40 bucks for theirs, which is outrageous. Is there an automotive thermostat that I can use and save 30 bucks? Thanks in advance guys!
12. Probably the most sick and twisted and cruel thing I've ever endured
13. Did you ever get the noise figured out
14. to bring up an old post but have you figured out what caused this? My 88 does that, and I think its just gear lash but I'm not sure
15. Well @dingy, I didn't get your measurements, but I got something better... Pictures! (Maybe they're not better) Yeah, what I did was drilled too far, well past the head. I had completely removed The head and didn't bugger up the threads, Thanks for the suggestion by the way with the torx bit! Worked perfectly, just my error of drilling too far. So basically all I had to do was get the rets of the bits out. So I just took a teeny tiiiny drill bit, don't remember which one and drilled into the stem with a little pressure, and just pulled the rest out. So I got the new one in, and its running great. Totally happy with it! I just wanted to say thanks for all the advice guys its really much appreciated it. If I didn't bugger it up so bad at first It wouldn't have been a big deal, but I got it out! What do you guys think of the temp gauge by the w
16. Just crossed 800 myself
17. Lol I agree with you on the impact driver thing, I think those threads are tougher than we give them credit for. I wouldve tried an impact driver but I already buggered up the head too bad. When I tried the torx bit it actually worked pretty well and I HAD to hit on it pretty hard with my LFH (little friggin hammer). Now I'm going to try an easy out since I got the head, or at least most of it out. I think these guys just get a nightmarish mental image of me pounding on the bad boy with my BFH And ruining a perfectly good carb body! They're just trying to help just like you and I really appreciate the help you guys have ALL given to me!
18. I've ridden on the back with Dad for many, many miles. I think it helped to mold me into who I am today and I think it is great to get kids into travel rather than video games and TV. I think after a few short rides your confidence will go up along with her experience and I think you'll have a great time
19. To me the only true danger of a mobile home would not be having a basement.
20. I can do that right away tomorrow. I tried pulling the jet screw out by doing only so far into it and tapping a torx bit into it. I drilled too far and managed to pull the threads out. So I'm pretty sure there is no head on the screw anymore
21. I guess where my problem is is that the threaded part of the jet is gone. I should just be able to pull out the rest of it right?
22. So we're talking teeny tiny torx bits! Does any one know what the size of the pilot screw stem is? I've got the head off and didn't bugger up the threads
23. Ok so I had it centered on the pilot screw until I took the head out. Now do I have to re center it on the stem of the pilot screw and drill into that? I just figured as soon as I got the head off the rest would follow
24. You're right the torx bit idea does work, but i've gone in too far and drilled through. I got the head out but I need to get the rest out. Any ideas on how to get the rest out of there?
