  1. Good thinking! Still waiting for a check though. How long is this supposed to take
  2. The back wheel only moves an inch or so either way. It wont turn anymore than that. I just assume thats the gear slack
  3. I've been thinking about your story alot. I think you did the right thing!!!
  4. Wow thats beautiful! Definitely jealous over this way!
  5. Well I've been trying to post this as a whole story but its been fighting me for 3 days so I guess forget it. When we got there I was really impressed with the dealership. They had a couple of those slingshots sitting out front and I gotta tell you those are a SWEET ride! They took us to the back room and there she sat. From a distance she looked reall purdy until I got a little closer. It had the typical first gen cracks and problems. The side panels were both busted and hardly hanging on (expected) But it had ALOT of damage on the right side fairing piece. It looked like they dropped it there in the shop. So he said hed start it for me and when he turned the key over it gave an expected "nothing". So he said hed go grab a jump pack and hed be right back. I looked at the dash and immediately noticed a large hole where the cb is supposed to be... Great. The shop was so full of bikes that I had to have dad hold it up just so i could squeeze in to take a closer look. The left side looked alot better than the right until I got go the trunk. The trunk looked like it had been broken in to, the right side latch was wedged out and pop riveted together. Yeesh Opened thetrunk to a service manual,cb, and a spare set of speakers. He put the jump pack on it and turned the key. I heard the fuel pump come to life but the headlight wouldnt come on. He hit the starter and it turned over twice then nothing. He said hed grab another jump pack and we told him not to waste our time. We said we said we might offer him 1000 for it and he seemed like hed entertain the offer. Thought about it and decided no, there are plenty others out there. Itd make a great parts bike, but after my wreck, I'm just not in the mood to play master mechanic anymore. Ill keep my eyes peeled and find one in better shape.
  6. Great story you handled it better than I would have. Best of luck to your back and your head!
  7. Maybe it has one of those ceramic resistors on the fire wall? Try that maybe? Just a shot in the dark
  8. I have thought of building up a good bike for myself I have the ability although Im not the most confident in that ability right now (possibly why i crashed). The size of the venture has never been a problem for me, being 6'3" and a little over 200lbs. I pretty much only have the room for one bike and what I want is something I can get on at 4 in the morning and set the cruise on my morning commute. I was interested in looking at an fjr1300 but I really love the radio. I also am planning on taking an 11 day trip to arizona so I'm gonna want that nice cushy seat. I chose the venture because I love the venture and I'm definitely gonna take my time and find the one for me!
  9. I guess I did not know about this? It was the back wheel that was wobbling. It was my very first extended ride with the dark side tire. I think it was something mechanical that went wrong with the bike but when I checked underneath I could find nothing out of place. The bike is stuck in 5th gear but the wheel is turnable by hand. It all seems tight and the leveling links looked ok. I'm really confused about what went wrong. I felt the tire over and didnt feel any rough spots on the tire and its still up. I just dont know:bang head:
  10. Thats scary stuff. Noone likes being hooked up to all those machines! Im sure youll be fine but you better go through it to make the docs happy. You mightve been a little dehydrated. Thats what I think happened to me. Best of luck buddy!!!
  11. Nope its a turd
  12. Sorry to hear about your buddy and his girl friend. I've thought long and hard about whether or not Im gonna give anyone a ride on the back after my little spill... If I'm to get hurt that's one thing but Id feel really bad about someone on the back getting hurt. Glad they're both ok and I hope she wants to keep riding!
  13. It would probably be just as costly as replacing the motor. Maybe go that route?
  14. So how exactly do we acquire these shirts. I know its got something with registration but I've never been to a VR Rally. Just Sturgis and the Davis Rally? I don't think those either of those rallies won't be half as wild as ours:Bunny:
  15. I'll take a few pictures for you while I'm down there Puc!
  16. I see it now middle left
  17. Can't wait to meet you guys. I love Australia! Its my dream to move there some day
  18. Also I know I'm gonna be a little safer out there on the road from now on. Not saying that I'm getting flashbacks or anything but one more half mile down the road and I could have ate the no passing sign :S
  19. Well we're gonna go look at it today. I don't care how nice it is I'm gonna do my best to look disapointed the entire time. I'll definItely try to get some info on the PO and see if it had been ridden at all lately. The nice thing is the dealer could of thought they were getting a good running bike but most people dont know how to tell if these are running right or not. You guys give me a pretty good advantage being on this site As far as less than a thousand miles a year I know its scary. I found an 85 with 23k on it but in the picture it was parked over a spot of oil so I have those guys looking into it today. Even if the gaskets look old do you think I can get a summers worth riding and change them when I do the valve adjustment next winter?
  20. I hope this one looks half as nice as yours
  21. Wow what a gorgeous bike! I love that color
  22. Im just a little nervous about the age of it. Mechanically the age doesn't bother me, but I'm more worried about an ignition coil going bad on a trip:confused:
  23. That is a COOL silver! I think Ice is a great name! Luckily everything is really well painted so you shouldn't have any real problem with it. Enjoy that beautiful bike! You better get used to turning heads
  24. WHAT? !?! NO FIRST GENS? I figure I better give you crap before one of the hardcore first genners do They look great though! Eusa1s daughter has alot of talent!
  25. When do you plan on picking it up?
