  1. Thanks for the input everybody, i agree that highway pegs should be next,Just for fun ive attached a pic of my present "pegs":rotfl:
  2. Ive had my 88 venture about a month now, able to fix most of the minor glitches, so yesterday took it on a patriot guard mission of 400 miles, LI to Dover Delaware and back home, escorting a fallen marine L/Corporal. The bike performed well mechanically, but comfort level wasnt what i expected, i dont like the pegs, both legs were cramping after about 5 hr, right had was numb, and dont get me started on the stock seat. the seat and the hand cramps can be addressed, but does any body know if there is a footboard/ forward control rig for these bikes, thanks for listening. Frank
  3. 3.7qts or 4.0 with filter change
  4. i just changed the filter on my 88 ,using a Fram CH6002, from what i read you cant use a floor jack on a first gen bike, i changed both tires using the center stand and a bottle jack for the front just to make sure the front end was stable
  5. just looked in my manual, doesnt give a size, any good hardware store should have a supply of ball bearings, take the valve and try to match it up, the manual states," make sure the ball falls into the valve body" Frank
  6. when i bought this 88 venture last week i mentioned that it had a loose front end i changed fork oil, and this solved the right side oil leak that i had, but still had a very bad shimmy at all speeds when i released pressure on the handle bars, severe enough that i was afraid to ride it. the bike also needed tires and i opted for dunlop elite 111s, as this seemed the tire of choice on the forum, i use dyna beads in my roadstar so thats what i used in the dunlops and guess what?absolutley no shimmy or vibes from the front end, and the mirrors are clear. Frank
  7. hi folks, i tore down the rear end today in preparation for new rubber, i pulled the drive shaft and the engine end spline was dry, my question is , is the rear spline lubed by the final drive oil, this is a 1988 venture royal, second question i also changed the fork oil, will the class system raise the front end when you pump it in manually, mine reads 22 psi when it cuts off, thanks in advance.
  8. be carefull, i just bought my 88 and both fork seals are leaking, im running the bike to work daily and notice a pretty significant shimmy when i relax pressure on the handlebars , and its real loose in the turns, which brings me to my next questrion, who sells a fork rebuild kit and progressive springs
  9. if the filter is still available ill take it with many thanks, let me know how much to zip 11746
  10. saw squidleys earlier thread, and didnt want to hijack it, so heres my 88, its got a few issues, loose muffler, squirelly front end, headlights out, but ill get to them one at a time. first question is, its got the original oil filter, i searched the site and found the list of aftermarket filters do they just screw on, if the pic shows up this is my new baby getting pushy with my roadstar.
