Great pics Bob. So sorry I couldn't make it to join this good looking group (ya, a few look a bit scraggly). Had planned on joining but my 4 generation family get together that day started and finished later than planned due to the weather. Looking forward to making the next one.

Made it to the "International Motorcycle Supershow" here in Toronto today. Lots of people and interesting bikes. Here are just a few. The first is a 1901 model, complete with wood rims, a kerosene headlight and a luggage rack. Also saw this Slingshot.

Saw my first one today at the Motorcycle Supershow here on Toronto. WOW, what an amazing looking machine. Much bigger than I imagined. Surprised Santa hasn't turned in his sled for a Slingshot.

good luck for 2015!

Cj, if you are not too time constrained, you might consider a bit longer loop to include lake Ontario. It is an easy add on if you have the time and it would sure add a bunch of scenic riding in Ontario and in the Finger Lakes area. Anyway, there are a bunch of us in south west Ontario that I know would enjoy riding a stretch with you.

Yup! Hope it's a good one for all.

Great Ben. So glad you are doing this again. Haven't missed one yet and only a month ago, I checked with Marcarl to make sure I hadn't missed this one. As things would have it, our family get together that I am hosting got rescheduled to Saturday. I will do my best to make it probably can't get there early enough for the meal. I'm sure it will be another good time for all to meat and eat!!

Thanks so much Earl for the reminder and the good advice. Much appreciated.

Dave, I'll share my thoughts and experience but in the end, it's mostly personal preference and the circumstances of your own trip. Also, I know many think different than I do, which is a good thing. I recall one three week trip many years ago where we were three couples on three bikes. We were staying off the slabs and focusing on great roads and scenery each day. One couple camped while we just stopped when we saw a motel that looked affordable and interesting, and we never had a problem doing that. Each day, the couple camping would try to find a campground once we knew where we were stopping for the night. Half way through the trip, they surprised us and said they simply couldn't combine their daily search for a campground and camping with the type and amount of riding we were doing each day. On our more recent five week Venture West, we hauled a trailer which allowed us to combine some camping along the way, as you can see in our blog: venturewest-evan-anne.blogspot.com. This trip covered some of the territory that mentioned, including Glacier National Park. On our three week Venture East, we left the trailer at home and found some neat motels and b&b's along the way, as you can see in our blog: ventureeast2013-evan-anne.blogspot.com For both rides, we were able to enjoy picnic lunches almost every day along the way when we found neat spots for that.

Had the same problem with my red saddle bag lid. Fairly deep scars. In my case, I went to Shopper's Drug mart and talked with the person there who let me take out a bunch of bottles of finger nail polish to see if I could get a good colour match, which I did. That was four years ago. I am still happy with the end result although it is not perfect and I would not recommend for some types of scars. It also helped that I added saddle bag rails.

Heard from Swifty (Dave Fast) today and I am pleased (especially as the proud owner now of his 86 VR) to post the following for him: "Swifty, the cheap bastard, is too stingy to pay his venturerider dues but he wanted me to post up what he got to replace his VR that I bought last year. They are both single cylinder engines, but the way he figures it, they are still going to allow him to move faster than some of the 2nd gen riders that he has followed around during the last 7 years. And in that regard, Swifty wants to send his thanks to "one and all". First to the "one", Freebird, for setting up the website and creating the opportunity for him to meet all these Yamaha fans and to make a few good friends along the way. And next to the "all", whom he readily admits might forever be calling him a sh!t disturbing commie, but he has never held anything against anyone and he's told me that he has never had so much fun." So, here is a picture of Swifty"s new ride: --- and here is a link to a utube video of Swifty with his other new toy that he built himself. Hope you check out the video; it's amazing and with this, he doesn't have to keep his wheels on the ground!! Have fun Swifty

A poem I wrote for my departed Father, sure do miss him...
Evan replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Just read your post Puc and coincidentally, going to see my Dad today. He is getting weaker and I just found out this morning that he had his third fall in the last few days and has not been able to get up on his own. In my case, it was in 62 when he helped me buy my first scooter, also at Sears (just a few years after your father did the same for you). Your words help many of us. -
What Doug (Money Venture) said.

Sure relate to this. Had a "go back" trip myself today. Made it about 10 miles this time before I realized I was heading out for a week without my iPhone. Had to go back home to get it.

Great post Randy. Up here in Ontario, the leaves are already brilliant in colour but we are starting fall with a week of summer like weather. In my case, our two week ride down to your part of the country was a highlight of this past summer. You have some great roads and scenery. Through the season, have upgraded my starter and stator, replaced my collector and rear wheel bearings and changed to led running and headlight. Turned 200,000 km on our Venture South trip, and my VR is feeling real good.

Great quiz. Great memories. Got 90% using process of elimination.

Great video. Remember it all, including the Geritol adds. Also remember the 5 cent ice cream cones back then. My mother worked at a dairy bar during the 50's so I often got my cone without having to pay.

Timely post Steve. I was thinking of picking up one of these tomorrow. I also just purchased a Solar Pest Repeller that claims to emit a sound and vibration pulse that repels rodents. The folks at Costco said they hadn't yet had any returned but if I don't think it works, just return it. It is for outdoor use and they claim rodents will move away after 2 to 12 weeks. Has anyone else here tried one of these?

Great news Gary. Hope your progress continues so Mary and you both fell comfortable back in the saddle, together. Also hope you enjoy you trip to Cape Cod and we are looking forward to your next visit here.

Somewhat similar experience. Took me a while to figure out that my problem was just at the plug into my gps.

We just got back from a two week trip that included most of the roads you covered. It's a great ride. Glad you enjoyed and made it home safe and sound despite battery problem. What we initially thought was a battery problem turned out to be a bad stator, but that little bad luck led to a bunch of good luck for us, which I talked about in my last post in my Venture South - Sort Of thread.

Yup, good lookin couple .
