  1. Larry makes an adapter for the RSTCs. I have one. No problems using it on my bike. Did you get yours from him and not to get you pissed at me but did he know what year bike you have?
  2. Don Which email addy for PayPal? I checked the listing for the domed decals and it has a different addy than what I sent my patches money to. BTW I'd like 2 of the domed decals if available!
  3. Don Ok will get some funds sent via PayPal. Anything else left floating around out there??
  4. Don I'm assuming that the patches ARE still available? If so, let me know current costs, etc. and I'll get some funds in the mail to you myself!
  5. Hey Guys I don't know what Motor Trike is doing about them these days, but you might consider a Stallion. They're classified as a trike but they have both heating and a/c! As I understand it, basic set up is Ford Mustang driveshaft and motor built into a trike configuration. I liked what I saw at the Lone Star Rally a couple years ago and also enjoyed watching 2 HD guys try to figure out what they could get for their bikes so they could buy one. As for cars, I would have had serious thoughts about a convertible myself when I traded my Frontier in last year but I had to take into consideration that I will be hauling my mum and her gear [walker, wheelchair] around so I got my Pathfinder instead. My dream car [outside of a classic Mustang Convertible of course!] would be a '58 Ford TBird convertible, robin's egg blue and white!
  6. I like the WW. I'm looking at putting a set of Shinkos on the RSTC. I probably won't get the same mileage that I would get with a set of E3's but then I won't be paying $300 a set for the Shinkos either. Since the trike axle tires on the RSV are car tires, I might go with Shinkos on the front as well depending on how they do on the RSTC.
  7. OK now I've got another question for you. I'm aware that putting a smaller diameter front tire on the RSV is almost standard practice. But has anyone done it on a RSTD or a TC? The only way I can put Michelin Commanders on the bike is by going to a 130 front instead of a 150. It also looks like I could put Pirelli Night Dragons on it as well. Anybody have those on their bikes?? I've run across a few Dunlop E4s but didn't notice sizes before I caught a post about them being the replacement for the E3s so I'm going to try and track those down again and see what I can find. I've found a few listings for Avon Venoms but they are all "out of stock" in ALL sizes which struck me as being kinda weird. Again, all help gratefully appreciated!!
  8. Well, I've finally started bringing my RSTC back to life. Thanks to Brad's hard work at the MD, the carbs are cleaned out and he actually got the darn thing to run! The tank is rusted, a bunch of the rubber tubing is dried out and breaking apart, and who knows what else will be found as this goes on. So now I'm putting together all the stuff the bike needs. At least I won't have to replace the control cables as I did those over 2 years ago when I put risers on it [stainless steel!]. One of the things we checked was the dates on the tires. I knew I'd have to replace them but we found out that the dates went back to before the guy I bought the bike from got it. So here I am looking to see what's out there. It's turning into an interesting exercise. I can find the E3's that are on the bike but some outfits have one but not the other. Motorcycle Superstore only lists one on it's site but lists both on Amazon???? No Venoms at all. In fact just about the only other tire set that I can find so far for the TC is the Pirelli MT66s! Oddly enough, those are on my 650 Custom. Does anyone have them on their TD/TC?? I liked the ride I got on the 650 with them but the RS bikes are definitely different and they may not work as well. FYI Santa Hal put new tires on his RSV at the MD. Just out of curiosity they checked the dates on them. Guess what? His "brand new" tires were 3 years old! What I'm looking for now are recommendations on an online oem parts supplier so I can order the tubing and other parts I'll need for my big beastie. I'm going to be doing a full fluid change on it [brakes oil etc] and am debating flushing the radiator as I have no idea as to when the coolant was last changed out. The axles will get lubed when we change the tires. Any other suggestions would be appreciated as I'm a rider, not a mechanic It will be interesting to see what this ends up costing. Take Care, Brenda H.
  9. I haven't seen anything posted about this so I thought I'd do it. Janet Whittig, aka Mrs. Doodle, Kreg's wife is in the hospital. There has been a little bit posted on Facebook but her son Keith has started a GoFundMe page to help with her medical expenses which, from the sound of things, are going to be lulus. Here's what he posted on that page; On the Nov. 27th my Mom was admitted to the Hospital with severe abdominal pain, over night she coded with Respiratory failure and was moved to CCU where she was intibated and placed on a Ventilator, she spent 5 days on that, while in there her Liver enzymes reached over 2000 and her Kidneys shut down, causing her to have three rounds of Dialysis, and to top that off, her Gallbladder, needs to come out in 4-6 weeks. She was then moved to the MICU and has been there for 11days, While recovering from all of that, her heart has been going in and out of AFIB and will require a Heart Cath and procedure done to correct that. I would like to request help with Medical expenses and Supplies. Thank you very much for any help you can give. https://www.gofundme.com/p9f64ges As always, all prayers, good vibrations, and whatever else you care to send along, I'm sure will be greatly appreciated!
  10. For starters, SiriusXM are one company and have been for several years now but they started out as separate then merged a few years ago. The situation is annoying to those of us who have both Sirius and XM. Most sat radios in vehicles these days are built in to the vehicle's radio system, not a separate radio as they used to be. We have been Sirius customers for many years as the hubby got tired of trying to find a Golden Oldies station on FM when we're traveling cross country. We have a portable Sirius radio that I use on my RSV and also in our F350 which is old enough that the vehicle installed version was not available. What is annoying to us is that both of our cars, a Hyundai and a Nissan, are under license to XM. End result is that some of the Sirius stations that are available to XM users for an extra charge [one of which is the Nascar channel which we listen to] despite the fact that Sirius XM is now one company, we have to pay that additional charge. OK now to get off my soapbox!! As for the radios, the Onyx is considered to be XM while the Stratus and Starmate are Sirius. With some channels still being specific to either one brand or the other, you need to check their programming to decide which one you want. Our portable unit is an older model Stratus but I prefer the Starmates and it will be replaced with one when it dies. There used to be a motorcycle specific mount for the sat radios [check eBay there might be a few still out there] as the antenna for a standard portable unit is way too long for use on a bike unless you wrap up the excess cable some way as I've had to do with mine. The standard antenna is a about 1 1/2 in. or so square and is magnetic. I just set mine on the gas tank where it has clear access to the sky and go on from there. I've not had the chance to see if it would work installed inside the front fairing as I also use it on my RSTC and the truck. The motorcycle specific mount kits had a metal plate that would attach to one of the brake reservoirs to mount the antenna which has a much shorter cable than the standard ones. I also have a universal RAM mount that will hold the radio, my cell phone, and anything else of a similar size. The mount has a rubber tipped metal framework in the shape of an "X". This can be adjusted as to the size and orientation of the object being mounted. The "X" framework is spring loaded so it stays pretty tight. One thing, if your vehicle radio is a built in, how can you transfer the subscription to a portable?? Also if your car is licensed to one or the other, you may not be able to transfer the subscription to a portable radio of the other brand. Despite being one company, SiriusXM is apparently still trying to keep most of the two companies' business separate from the other. The last time I had to deal with their customer service, I asked when they were going to stop doing that and couldn't get an answer. Also annoying! I love my sat radios and for all extents and purposes, I don't listen to anything else unless it's one of my audiobooks .
  11. Wouldn't work for me. Their rental fleet is all Beemers. Great bikes but definitely not for the vertically challenged!!
  12. Is the casino ferry still on the Iowa side of that bridge? Hubby was born and raised in Prairie and whenever we visited the family the buffet in the hotel there was always one of our stops. Pa in Law would go over about 4 pm and get dinner for the lunch rate. Wish we could get up there, raiding the Shihata orchards and Schullenburg Cheese was also a regular thing for us. Parents in law used to send us about 30 lbs. of the cheese every Xmas! The last time we were up there, one of my store's co-managers turned out to be from that area and she had us bring her back some of the cheese curds from the local grocery store. Talk about old home week!
  13. Honda CB350 Four. I learned to ride on a Yam. 350 twin that belonged to a friend. But I was in love with the Honda. Even won a steak dinner over one when my friend bet me that Honda had not made a Four that small. Oddly enough I never owned my own bike until just over 10 years ago when I bought my lil 50cc scooter!
  14. Interesting choices in that list. Canada is just too far, over 3 days travel time from here. With the exception of the Gulf Coast, everything is at least 2 days away. WV and NC VERY interesting, lots of new country to discover. IN and WI make side trips to visit family possible. In fact WI could have both overnite stops on the way up in towns where I have family and could make a stop in the Hubby's hometown also possible on the way home. Dates are not a problem for me [providing something else doesn't come up in the meantime!] so the Gulf Coast in the fall would work for me also. The only problem is that with everything but the Gulf Coast, the bike will be going for a ride instead of me riding it up there. Now I just have to make up my mind!!
  15. I find it interesting that they list I-10 in the Houston/Katy area. I wouldn't call it dangerous unless you're out there in the middle of rush hour!
  16. Hubby and I have been sat radio customers forever. We currently have built in XM in both of our primary vehicles and a portable Sirius in my F350 which is old enough ['07] that built in sat radios were not an option back then. I transfer the sat radio from the truck over to the bike whenever I'm going to be on the road for any length of time. Biggest complaint I have is that they insist on charging extra on XM for certain channels that were originally Sirius only even though they are the same company now. Second complaint is their "internet option", allowing you to stream MOST of their channels does not include those of the package we pay extra for. Hubby loves the music channels as he is a big time 50's/60's R&R fan and has one h**l of a time finding any am/fm station that plays that kind of music. He used to get thoroughly pissed when we traveled as he had to keep looking for one. With the sat radios, you can name just about any kind of music and find it on there. They also cover most sports, weather/traffic for most major metroplexes , several comedy channels , talk radio, and one of my favs, the old time radio show channel.
  17. Ok that answered one question I had. Here's the next one - - - Where does the Beemer go?? As I remember, you bought that to drive after you bought a motor home. Somehow I just don't see it fitting in thru the back door:crackup:. My mum was giving a 38 ft. 5th wheel a serious look last year. The Beemer would have fit in that one as it had one of the largest toy hauling areas I've ever seen in an RV and one that was completely separate from the living area. FYI the standard Scott 1000 sheet toilet paper will work just fine. We lived in a travel trailer full time for over 3 years and had no problems with it. Also check on how your awning is secured once it is down.We did not have ours tied down and it blew off in a storm that hit while we were away from home. PS the Big Beastie is doing just fine. I had it detailed at the ROT Rally last month. It LOOKED good, that is until I got it home and my muddy pawed putty tats got all over it as usual. Plans are in the works for a 3 car garage on the place so it will be completely under cover instead of just having a bike cover on it. The cats like those as they can not only get on top of it for a great place to crash but under it as well when the weather gets iffy which it's been doing a VERY great deal this year . It's one reason why my 650 has a ripped up seat on it and also why I don't have the "new" seats mounted!
  18. The '96 to '01 RS's were called RST Classics, Boulevards, Standards as well as Deluxes. I have a '96 RSTC myself and I have no problem with it being stock but then souping up a bike has never been my thing. For a wuss like myself, the '96 has plenty of power and has no problem keeping up with interstate traffic or a bunch of idiots who think the speed limit is actually about 10 mph or more above what's posted . My first ride on my TC was from Illinois where I bought the bike down to KBran's place in La. for a MD and then home to Houston. It had no problem handling the traffic and I55 is no place for slowpokes. The bike is great [for me at least!] as is. I love it.
  19. I've been keeping tabs on this one myself with the huge ROT rally coming up in Austin in a few weeks. To a certain extent, the cops way over reacted on their arrests. Basically, EVERYONE who was there got sent to jail, no matter who they were or which of several clubs they belonged to, are under 1 MILLION $$ bail each! Initial reports had 1000 weapons seized while the actual count is in the 300+ range [still an out of sight number!]. Absolutely no one is saying who shot who and how many were actually killed by police. Multiple jurisdictions to a fare thee well and the local Waco PD is supposedly claiming they don't need ANY help from anyone including the state police, FBI, and ATF! Talk about NUTS! One of the actual gangs who was involved in the shootout was supposed to be sponsoring a rally elsewhere this weekend but it was cancelled [wonder by who?] but the cops are still covering the rally grounds just in case to see who still shows up. ROT [Republic of Texas] Rally has sent out an email announcing that they are working with ALL local, county, and state pd's to provide security at the Travis Co. Fairgrounds where the main rally is held. Since ROT makes the Waco gathering looking downright tiny in comparison, it will be interesting to see just how many cops show up for the ROT madhouse. ROT also holds one humongous motorcycle parade on Fri. night and takes over most of downtown Austin for a huge streetdance/party so trouble could get real "interesting" real quick. I was thinking of going [got to buy goodies for the Beasties!] but will wait and see what happens from here on.
  20. Annie!! Will see you at the Texas stopover. We can compare notes on our trikes!!
  21. Nice bike! Finally!! A 1st Gen. I could ride! I'm too short for the 2 wheel stock version, darn it!
  22. I don't live in Ca. but I will not ride without a helmet. My go to lid is usually a flip face or sometimes a full face depending on the length of the trip. Hot weather, of which there is plenty in this part of Tx. during the summer, can see me change to a 3/4 with faceshield. The only time I have come off a bike the hard way, I landed face first in a gravel patch. Thanks to the full face I was wearing, I still have a nose, etc. This goes for whatever bike I'm on at the time, either the trike or my RSTC [should I ever get that darn thing running again!!] As for boots, I usually wear lace up hi-top hikers. Good support, helps protect my already messed up feet/ankles. Just wish I could find a pair of riding boots that will fit. Since my silly feet don't match, finding anything that fits requires being able to try them on, something that is almost impossible to do around here.
  23. Brad I'd be interested in some of these, 3 silver + 1 black, if possible. Hang on to them please and I'll come by and pick them up. Give me an excuse to take the Big Beastie out for a nice long run!! Just let me know how much.
  24. I agree. Drunk and High?? He got off lucky.
  25. I wish I'd known about this sooner. I could have brought one of mine up here with me as I'm currently up in Ill. giving my mum a hand. I have a "homebuilt" trailer put together by fellow VRO member Owen. It's a small flatbed trailer with a hardshell car carrier mounted on top, all led lighting so it won't be a power drain on a bike. As I also got a trailer as part of the deal on my trike last year, I don't need it. If your friend would be interested, or anyone else for that matter, please let me know.
