  1. I agree with Barry. Though I specifically use Mobil One Racing 4T in my RSV. It is made for motorcycles and maybe it makes no difference but I know it is formulated for wet clutches. I've been using Mobil One in everything I own for many years. I think I started using it exclusively around 1997 or 1998. I've used it in anything I've bought new and swapped to it in anything that I've bought used. Cars, motorcycles, boats, wave runners, etc. The first Venture that I bought was an '88 model with around 45,000 miles on it. Swapped it to Mobil 1 immediately after my first trip and it became harder to shift. Never had any problems after the swap and never had any leaks. It's not cheap though. I changed the oil in my RSV this past weekend. 4 quarts of the oil and a K&N filter cost me about $65.00. The filter was too high at $16.99. Don't know if I'll use the same one next time but we'll see.
  2. That's amazing. In my 48 years of riding, I don't ever remember having anything stolen off my bike. Maybe I've just been very lucky. There was once when I thought that somebody had walked by and broken an antenna off but after replacing it and losing it again, I learned that the cast aluminum mounts I had covered too were breaking and I likely lost it on the way there. To do something like that in front of your kid....that just makes it worse.
  3. For the record, I don't believe it. I just have to think that if Yamaha was introducing a new touring bike, there would be some kind of teasers from them out there. Like they did a while back on a new ATV or something. Make some type of event out of it. We hear this every year and nothing comes of it. I don't expect it this year either. I hope I'm wrong.
  4. If I'm not mistaken, there iS a anti-rollover check valve that prevents gas from running out of the vent line if you drop the bike. Don't remember exactly where it is but you should be able to follow the tube and find it. Unless I'm thinking about another bike but I'm almost sure that it has one. If that is the case, you probably won't be able to blow air through it from the top.
  5. Would you be interested in a new 3rd Gen Venture?
  6. I agree with you. If it is a Twin, I wouldn't be interested. OK...maybe a water cooled VTwin could get my attention but I'm still now sure. If it's air cooled, I would have no interest at all. I will keep what I have. If I wanted another Twin, I would buy another Harley.
  7. OK...I think I have it working again. The only thing that remains to be seen is whether or not it updates as it should.
  8. I didn't remove it but you are right that it is gone. Don't know why. Will try to figure it out.
  9. HEY...I'll BE THERE. I mean..unless it's raining...or the sun is in my eyes...you know...major things like that.
  10. So....you are saying that I need to bring my trailer? Will all my loot fit into a Bushtec?
  11. I'll be at dinner along with Paul. Also want to buy those tickets. Will be arriving Thursday evening.
  12. I have no problem with their filter I don't guess except that I am not driving to a dealer to get a filter that is certainly no better than most and not as good as some others. As for Yamalube, I can only speak from my own experience. I HATE it. I could care less what they recommend when I know that my bike runs quieter and shifts smoother with other oils. My preference is Mobil 4T Racing full synthetic. There is absolutely no doubt that my bike runs quieter and shifts much smoother and does so until I reach oil change time. The Yamalube broke down in as little as 1500 - 2000 miles when riding in hot weather. Very evident by the say it shifted and difficulty in finding neutral Just my opinion.
  13. Absolutely report it. If it was serious enough to cause her to do such a thing, then there is a problem that must be dealt with. Your daughter needs you so don't even think about taking it in your own hands.
  14. I moved this thread to the correct forum.
  15. I thought about it once a good while back. I went on the Indian forums and did a lot of reading. My main complaint with the Harley was the heat and from what I read, the Indian is at least as bad. That was enough to end any thoughts I had about owning one. It was the same issue as the Harley. Eileen knew I loved the Road Glide and tried very hard to not mention it but the fact is, the felt like her right foot was actually being blistered sometimes. I did everything that people recommended. Removed the cat, free flowing exhaust, tuner to richen it up a bit. Nothing worked. I talked to my dealer about the new ones with the water cooled exhaust port area and they were very honest with me. They told me that the partial water cooling enabled them to get a bit more performance without increasing the heat but that if I was thinking of trading because of the heat, I was not going to be happy. They admitted that it runs as hot as mine did. Another thing that I read about on the Indian forum was that people who had problems were waiting extended periods of times because dealers did not have parts. I'm sure that will be resolved and maybe already had but I read of people waiting weeks for repairs due to it. Also quite a few comments about those brown seats not holding up very well and they are expensive to replace. I had already decided to go with the black seats if I bought one. In the end, it just made no sense to even consider it. People complain about the price of the Harley but with the same basic accessories I had already added to the Road Glide, the Indian came in about $10,000.00 higher. No thank you.
  16. You didn't mention replacing the springs or spring. That is most likely the issue. The springs get weak over time. Worn disks can cause it also but you said you replaced them already. You need to replace the springs and then make sure that you don't use any type of "energy conserving" automotive oil. You say that you use Yamalube though so that shouldn't be an issue.
  17. I changed my oil yesterday. It was too expensive at $16.99 I think but I ended up just going with a K&N. Worked fine.
  18. Have a safe trip. Would ride along but I can leave until Thursday afternoon. Will see you there.
  19. Pretty cool little bikes. I preferred the 4 stroke Cub but for $100.00, I would have been all over it too.
  20. Well the links to the profile worked but caused another issue so I had to change it back. It will still show the city and state of the new member but no link to the profile. For whatever reason, it would work about 50% of the time but when it didn't work, it didn't send out the confirmation email for new members at all so they were unable to get registered. I'm not sure why unless there are some email providers that simply block meals with links in the title. I don't think it's that important anyway because now that you can see the city and state where they are from, I think that's the important thing. After looking at the profiles of a couple where it did work, I'm finding that they have usually not added any other information to the profile anyway.
  21. I tell you, for that price it is sure worth the try. Please report back.
  22. I will add the same thing for correctional officers. That is a job that I would certainly not want and thank those of you who do it. I can't image what you must go through on a daily basis.
  23. It is absolutely appropriate and thank you for what you do. I will be glad to give you the award once you become a supporting member. Membership has its Perks. If you decide to become a supporting member, just click on "Awards" in the upper menu bar and send me a request. Either way, again, thank you for your service.
  24. No problem. I did get a notification but no PM so I hope that is what everybody wanted. The notification did have a clickable link though.
  25. Not sure. When somebody mentions me again, I'll look into it. I did go to my profile and under "mentions" it does have clickable links. I don't have any under notifications right now so will have to wait until I do again.
