  1. Thanks for the site Don, and thanks for the folks we get to call family. Funny thing is, when there is trouble in the ranks,,, who is it that sets it all straight with a few well placed letters that turn into words???? words of wisdom, love, caring and reprimanding? Not sure I'm not,,, but I thought his name was Don! Someone has been guiding you, and you have followed and done what is good.
  2. The Fool is right,,, do it now!!
  3. Glad to hear you is good. Get that vehicle off the road, don't be thinking wrong here. You wouldn't ride your bike if something wasn't quite right and a van can smash up quite easily,,, with you in it!!!!. Hey,,,, we want you around for a while yet, so GET IT FIXED!!!!
  4. Good call,,, let us know when you find the place you call home.
  5. Wow Puc,,, two birds with one stone,,, glad to have on board,,,, I'm sure Yammer will want to see each one, and each one will give him a lift. Get well soon Dan, we would find it hard to get along without you,, it just wouldn't be the same.
  6. I just thought you should all know and read his story. Lesson to be learned here,,,,, Thanks for the description Dave,, I'm sure it will help others avoid the predicament. Taken from other post. Tooch Went Boom I got to experience something I've never done before......sliding down the highway at 70-80 km/h and watching my bike sliding down the highway beside me, throwing sparks off of the left rear bag rails.......I was thinking, man all this rain and water on the road and it's still throwing up all those sparks! I'd been in the right lane on the 407 Hwy. just coming up to Hurontario Road, the rain had turned into a monsoon again and the wind had really picked. I had basically no visibility but there was no traffic and I could make out the white lines that I needed to keep it between. I should have slowed down more then I had but I was still an hour out and wanted to get home. I didn't see that the run off was coming across the roadway and was pooling along the right side of the road. I started to hydroplane and the front end lost all traction and started to go into a wobble. I rolled off the throttle but the backend started to slide towards the right. I started to correct and felt her starting to come around but I hit another standing pool of water that totally wash out the front end on me. The road is 5 lanes wide here and the surface is concrete the water was running in sheets down the camber of the road and I might as well have been on ice. As the back end completely wash on me and came around, I knew I was going down. As the bike started to slide onto her left side I just pushed away from her and let her go her way and I went mine. I didn't want to stay with the bike in case she went high side on me. Well I slide down the highway watching and thinking about the sparks when it dawned on me, man, I think this is going to hurt! And just as I thought that, I came to a stop in the middle of the highway and looked over at the bike which was stopped on its left side over, by the centre concrete barrier. There were no lights, no traffic coming towards me so I did a quick check of myself and nothing hurt so I got up and walked over to the bike on the left shoulder of the road. I picked up my windshield with the windows bags still attached as I walked towards the bike but that was the only thing that appeared to have broken off. I could see a lot of damaged and bent parts on the left side. Wow what I mess if the bikes that bad there has to be some injuries to me. I really checked myself over feeling around and moving everything. My rain suit was shredded and my armoured jacket was full of abrasions and worn right through on my right elbow to the armoured pad. My armoured pants looked the same. I had pair of Kevlar jeans underneath but later I found they didn't have a mark. I didn't have a mark on my body and nothing at all hurt and I felt fine. I didn't think my head had banged off of anything but I took my helmet off and looked it over, not a mark. I went over and wrestled with the bike and got it up right but the kickstand would not come down and was jammed up somehow. I pushed her over to the concrete barrier and leaned it against that. It was still pouring rain and the best I could see the left side was a mess. I threw on the 4-way flashers and dug out my cell phone. Of course my cell phone is dead! As I said not much traffic and what there was, I couldn't get anybody to stop and help me out. Finally someone stopped and of course later I find out he rides and that's why he stopped when he saw me trying to flag him down. Bruno was his name and he called the police for me. The police came and did a report and he called a friend of mine for me, who came with a flat-bed tilt-load and took the bike to his shop, in Vaughan and gave me a lift there. I called Cathy well after 1:30 and woke her up to come get me. She had no idea I had left MD to come home early and was mad, that I hadn't called her to tell her I was on the road on the way home. She drove the hour down from Barrie to get me and I guess she had settled down some, cause she finally ask if I was all right. I was soaked right through by this time, helping to unload & load the bike. (My rain suit was shredded & somehow wasn't doing much to keep me dry!) When we got home I had a hot shower and looked me over again, not even a bruise. Got to bed at 5:15 a.m. And thought, I bet I'd feel it in the morning......... Well I'm not feeling anything out of the ordinary. As I type this, the only thing that is injured, is my pride. I'm OK and grateful that it turned out that way. The bike can be fixed and if not, I guess replaced. Last edited by The Tooch; Today at 06:31 PM.
  7. Thanks Eileen and Don, been great to be there. We left early, but that didn't have anything to do with who was there or who was hosting this event,,,, 'course if rain had held up for another day or two, we might have had to 'endure' another evening of sitting around with friends and new acquaintances,,,. As it was, the time we spent was well worth the journey, but the journey was an experience as well. Was great to meet and see everybody we did, looking forward to the NY thing next.
  8. Wow,, what a story, the rain put you down, but I bet the water greased things up for your slide. Glad it didn't happen earlier in the evening with more traffic,, could have been a bit different. Glad your OK,, I think Somebody is looking out for you.
  9. Thanks for the post Lewis,, it can be important if living on this earth is important to you. May you be enjoying the blessing that can be yours from above.
  10. Just made it home, how did everyone else fare. Left Don & Nancy @ a motel. Left Dogman @ Walmart Sent the Rooster on his way by himself Tooch was going on his way and should be home shortly Wizard left me me so I could rise by myself for a bit. Had a bit of wet, good company and a good ride Thanks all for coming and thanks Don for being the sponsor yet again.
  11. Missed you yesterday Dan now we know why. That isn't something that anyone of us would wish for, especially not you after all you been through already. Will pray for you that you may handle this trial as well as you have the previous and ongoing ones. Blessings from above.
  12. In making your own hose set-up, check to make sure that it runs in the same place as the OEM. The gas tank has a joint on the bottom which will nicely cut through a hose in short time. To fix this there is a protecting bracket on the joint. It's only a couple of inches long so the hose has a specific area in which to transit to the far side. The protector can be moved, but make sure that it is firmly reattached.
  13. I knew I would forget something,,, well in this case someone or someones,,,, that solves that then,,, won't have to worry about what I can forget to pack seeing as I already forgot something. Thanks Don! As usual, you are there to keep things together.

  16. I have a 27mm and a 20mm with me. Should use the right ones, nuts aren't that thick that they can take much abuse.
  17. Do you want to change the fork oil as well? You should, seeing as the progressives take less oil than the OEM,,, should be doable. Bring some 10w fork oil.
  18. So you should be well aware as to how often the other sex changes their minds,,, I knew you wouldn't change yours, that's why I mentioned it.
  19. This is only Thursday and on Monday, if my memory serves me correct, the forecast was for 55mm and 90%, then it changed to 35-45 @ 60%, now it's a chance of a thunderbanger with 25-35mm 100%,,,,, gonna be a nice sunny day and hot as usual. Be a good day to be riding in a Kia with airconditioning, and we may even get a free wash out of the deal this year. About time actually, not cheap this MD thing, so something for nothing is always welcome.
  20. I think it's no longer available. I think it's a 5\16 inside, or there abouts. Use brake line with brass fittings.
  21. You got yourself a lot of nerve talking about Tweeks like that,, saying that she is getting too old to ride the two of you on such a short jaunt to MD. Shame on you,,, that there Venture will keep on ticking and ticking,,, don't you go giving up on her so easy and then to say that she can be replaced by something so gentle and frail as what you showed us,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, guess I'll have to add to my speech,, let me do some research.
  22. I'll keep an eye on you then,,, I usually speech until the last one falls asleep,,, I figure that as long as some of the audience is awake it must be interesting, so no reason to stop short eh?
  23. So what if it rain on MD??????,, that'll be a first, but it has threatened before,,, and so that's what they make rain gear for isn't it,,, rain??? just hope the pond don't overflow and we have to start digging ditches,,, that's workkkkkk Normally it wouldn't matter none anyhooo,,,, wet by sweat or wet by rain,, it'll all wash off,,,,, I tink.
  24. So here you go. Spyder wheels kept going out of balance, put in 1oz of beads,,,I'm cheap and the weights were still installed, ran better,, lost weights on the one front this week,,, added 3oz to that wheel,, not so good yet,,,, went and added another 1oz to the front, now 5oz on both fronts and 3 more to the rear, now also 5oz. Rides like a dream so far. We'll see better tomorrow and on the weekend. They say you can better put in too many than not enough,, makes sense to me.
  25. It's not Friday yet,,, things can change,, they have been changing so far,,, just depends on the whim Thursday eve I think.
