I am having what I think are fuel pump issues as well. I am trying to force myself to turn off the petcock when I park the bike to get in the habit. There are times that I forget to turn it back on when I do this and my bike ends up dying due to no fuel. that has happened a few times. When it did happen it wasn't an issue I would just turn on my fuel after it died and it would start back up. Recently, it happened again and this time I let it sit for a good 15-20 minutes just trying to start it here and there to no avail. I was going to be late for an appointment so I just left it where it was for the day and when I came back about 8 hours later the fuel pump clicked an d it started right up. In the morning after it happened I did not hear the fuel pump trying to do anything even after turning off the key and turning it back on multiple times. does that sound like a fuel pump issue? I don't always hear the pump clicking when I start my motorcycle in the mornings,. I used to hear it every time when I first bought it in 2010. I don't have any issues starting it in the morning but if I run out of gas because I forget to turn the petcock it doesn't always start right up.

Well, today I remembered I have roadside assistance so I called the insurance this evening and a tow truck is coming out tomorrow morning to get it out. I would of done it tonight but I had things that had to be done before dark. I don't think there is any clay in the ground here cuz the ground is like mush!

So, here is a good funny story about me getting my MC stuck in the yard. It has been raining here via a heavy drizzle since last night. Today when I was coming back from work I went around my car in the driveway into the grass to park my bike in the garage. Well, I didn't know the ground gets so soft after the rain. Well, all of a sudden my bike stops rolling and I can't move. I try to roll on the throttle to get out but I just keep getting deeper in the mud. I put some wood in front of the rear tire to try to get some traction that way but to no avail and my back tire digs in even more. Now my bike is sitting next to my driveway stuck int he mud and held up by the back tire being stuck int he mud. Below are some pics that I could get of it that thought would share. I don't think they are that clear but I figured I would still post what I had. I am just going to let it sit there until it stops raining and dries up then try to move it and maybe get a spade shovel to make a gradual incline to roll up on once the ground dries. Who knew a bike could get stuck so easily in the ground. I couldn't help but laugh about it!!! I am not looking for any solutions just thought it was a funny story and decided to share!

Ok, Thanks for the info. I did remove the brass caps to adjust the mixing screw becasue I replaced the jets with the Ivan's Performance ones. I didn't remove the mixing screw to clean them just adjusted them. I didn't think they needed to be cleaned but maybe I should clean them since I have the carbs out already. I am pretty sure that is not the technical name for the covers but I was wondering if I put the covers back on correctly? Unfortunately, I didn't think about taking a pic prior to removing all 4 covers when I was doing some maintenance on the carburetors. I am not sure if the fuel drain screws are supposed to be all facing the same direction or if they are all supposed to be facing inward. Would someone please take a look at the picture and let me know? Thanks in advance for your help. Brian

Well, I did call them to verify and unfortunately it takes 3-5 days to process and order but hopefully they are slow this week! I guess I will just place the order and run with it! Thanks, Brian

I was wondering since I am sure there are service shop personnel on this forum or those that have parts if anyone had 4 float bowl o-rings (gaskets), part number 4XV-14562-00-00. I tried ordering online and through a dealer but the dealer doesn't have any in stock and the online place (partzilla) won't ship until Monday, 4 Jan. I would like to finish putting it back together this coming weekend so would like to have the o-rings here by Thursday. I have Paypal or could even do a CC over the phone if necessary. Hey all, I have a 2005 RSTD. I am trying to find where a gas smell is coming from when my bike is parked. I took the gas tank off to look at that and then get into my carbs. However, when I took my gas tank off I moved it around and turned it upsid down to see if there were any leaks there. Upon doing so I found that the gas cap leaked quit a bit and I proceeded to check the gas cap gasket and found it had some crack in it. I figure that I may need a new gasket. Thee is a pic in this post of it and I was wondering if someone could take a look at it and see what they think. I then looked arund a the hoses and found that there was the hose coming off the top of the gas tank that rides down the right side of the motorcycle and it looked bad with some corrosion looking stuff around it. I had it running right on top of the radiator hose that is next to the carbs. I think that was run wrong and it may have caused the rubber hose to thin out. Can someone look at that as well and let me know if 1. it was run wrong and if so where it would be run and 2. if I should replace it. I think it needs to be replaced but not sure if it is only a breather tube and there isn't any actual gas running through it. Thanks for your help in advance. Brian

Sorry for not responding sooner but I was moving and it was a pain!! Anyways, I was finally able to get back to this and took some pics. I hooked the negative up to the negative side of my battery. This is where it is sitting as of now. The negative wire on the suppressor have a ring on it but it was to small to fit the screw through so I just tighten the screw down on the post. I'm hoping that works. On a separate note, You can see the amp in the pics I took. With the amp in that spot the front of the seat actually sits up from the tank. I tried to slide the amp further down but was unable to. The plastic behind it that help separate the fender from the area didn't have much give. Any suggestions for a different place for the amplifier?? There doesn't seem to be much room on the RSTD to put things.

To the negative post? One wire of the suppressor is already connected to the positive of the battery. If that is the case that will be easy!! I never realized that is considered a ground (if that is the case).

I installed it under the seat because that is where the amp is located. It is behind the battery leaning against the frame (the amp that is).

Got the unit in. I installed it and guess what, no more NOISE!! Thanks for the info all. You all always know what is up!! I didn't connect the ground because I couldn't really find a place to ground it and it still worked. Thanks again!

Well I ordered the piece today. Hopefully it is easy to install. @djh3 thank for the link! I will update later. If anyone can tell me how to actually put it on that would be cool.
