Funny thing is, that today's crowd tend to think that us old foogies know nothing,,, but it was us who got them to where they are today. Yep, if it hadn't been for the 60's crowd, there would be no TV, cell phones, computers, alarm systems, internet banking, credit cards, radial tires, colored hair, bikinis, electric shavers, microwaves, major league baseball or hockey,,, and the list goes on,,,,,, course we would still have to deal with horses and horse manure rather than bull-st*t,,, but hey,, that's what buggies are for.

Fuel Pump Points
Marcarl replied to Donvito's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Did you try to move the points closer together when it quit. You could also try to run the pump straight from the battery to see if that changes anything. I did have a realy go bad once, but after dropping it, it seemed to have got the message to not ever do that again. Careful if you run it direct, the pump will not accommodate reverse polarity. -

misssing at low speeds
Marcarl replied to Big Auggie's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Ditto on that. The plastic cover you speak of is land fill material. very few are being used for anything else. Each plug has it's own separate coil, not a real common issue, but has happened. -

Don't know what you have that attracts those varmits Puc,,, but it looks like you'd better get a bigger Terminator. Them's no small problem to have around. They've taken over your garage it seems, next they'll have you sleepin in the dog house. Enjoy the visit, as I know you will. -
Front brake squishy
Marcarl replied to hoochster's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just for kicks, change the pads back the way they were. If that solves your problem, the real problem will be with the calipers in that the pistons are hanging up. Pay attention here,,, brakes not working right is no joke, it's outright dangerous. We don't have that much power in the braking situation, so don't go compromising it in any way. You need all you got,, get it right!!! -
Calling all 2 Gen Tech
Marcarl replied to mobilet's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Check the terminals to cable connections. They might be tight so pull on the good, don't worry if they come apart for if they do,,, you found your problem. -
I have a kit, but Brenner has it at the moment,,, he's long done with it so you could PM him and see how to get it from him. I know locally here, if I bring in 4 shims to Brantford MC, they'll exchange them for what I need,,,, don't know how your relationship is with your local dealer.

So here I try soooooooooo hard to be myself and then I get blamed for the weather,,,,,, yes the weather!!!!! Got up Saturday,, all rip rarin to get to work, and the first thing that happens when I get to Don's is that I have to go back to the Hotel,,,, then upon returning I am informed that it is lunch time,,, well can't miss lunch now can we,,,, after I made sure that all the folks were equally feed, and none looked gaunt and miss-treated, I dined on the left-overs. With that under me belt it was time to visit with some folks who thought that stealing cameras was not nice,,, I put it back,,,,, and then I had the opportunity to look for a hammer,, when I was so much informed that going home was on the do-now list, because of the weather,,,,, that's where the weather comes in. Tell ya what,,, if you can bear to wait til next year????? I'll for sure set you straight if you've noticed that you have it all wrong!!

Front brake squishy
Marcarl replied to hoochster's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have heard that the back brakes wear unevenly, but for that to happen to the front is a new one I think. Maybe best check that the pistons are all working properly and not hanging up, or ceased. -
is it time ace the lclutch.2001 venture
Marcarl replied to cruiserlover's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Most likely you have some air in the clutch hydraulics. First bleed the clutch system and make sure all the old brake fluid is out. You might find that the end of the master cylinder will retain some air. To get this out, partially fill the reservoir with brake fluid, turn the handle bars all the way to the right so that the reservoir is the top-most part of the system. Then as you tap the connector at the end of the reservoir, slightly, lightly work the handle. No need to move it all the way, just enough for bubbles to come up. Make sure you cover the bike below to catch any drips, brake fluid does a number on paint. -

Thanks for checking in,, good to have met you,,, now I can envision a face when I see the name. Good you made it home alright,, and sorry about Squid,,,, nobody said he was coming or we might have been forewarned. Seems we kept him busy enough though to keep him out of trouble mostly.

It wouldn't have been the same without you two,,, nice to have sat down and chatted for a bit. Until next time!!!

This is not good,, too many bad reports,,, pretty soon folks will be telling us that riding a MC is dangerous. Sorry for your injuries Eagleye, sounds like it's more the feelings rather than the physical. I'm very happy that the riders were no any more injured than what they were. Shows to go you, that mishaps on MCs can happen without loss of life. That's a good stat and I think there is Someone we can thank for that.

Thanks for the site Don, and thanks for the folks we get to call family. Funny thing is, when there is trouble in the ranks,,, who is it that sets it all straight with a few well placed letters that turn into words???? words of wisdom, love, caring and reprimanding? Not sure I'm not,,, but I thought his name was Don! Someone has been guiding you, and you have followed and done what is good.

Glad to hear you is good. Get that vehicle off the road, don't be thinking wrong here. You wouldn't ride your bike if something wasn't quite right and a van can smash up quite easily,,, with you in it!!!!. Hey,,,, we want you around for a while yet, so GET IT FIXED!!!!

Good call,,, let us know when you find the place you call home.

I just thought you should all know and read his story. Lesson to be learned here,,,,, Thanks for the description Dave,, I'm sure it will help others avoid the predicament. Taken from other post. Tooch Went Boom I got to experience something I've never done before......sliding down the highway at 70-80 km/h and watching my bike sliding down the highway beside me, throwing sparks off of the left rear bag rails.......I was thinking, man all this rain and water on the road and it's still throwing up all those sparks! I'd been in the right lane on the 407 Hwy. just coming up to Hurontario Road, the rain had turned into a monsoon again and the wind had really picked. I had basically no visibility but there was no traffic and I could make out the white lines that I needed to keep it between. I should have slowed down more then I had but I was still an hour out and wanted to get home. I didn't see that the run off was coming across the roadway and was pooling along the right side of the road. I started to hydroplane and the front end lost all traction and started to go into a wobble. I rolled off the throttle but the backend started to slide towards the right. I started to correct and felt her starting to come around but I hit another standing pool of water that totally wash out the front end on me. The road is 5 lanes wide here and the surface is concrete the water was running in sheets down the camber of the road and I might as well have been on ice. As the back end completely wash on me and came around, I knew I was going down. As the bike started to slide onto her left side I just pushed away from her and let her go her way and I went mine. I didn't want to stay with the bike in case she went high side on me. Well I slide down the highway watching and thinking about the sparks when it dawned on me, man, I think this is going to hurt! And just as I thought that, I came to a stop in the middle of the highway and looked over at the bike which was stopped on its left side over, by the centre concrete barrier. There were no lights, no traffic coming towards me so I did a quick check of myself and nothing hurt so I got up and walked over to the bike on the left shoulder of the road. I picked up my windshield with the windows bags still attached as I walked towards the bike but that was the only thing that appeared to have broken off. I could see a lot of damaged and bent parts on the left side. Wow what I mess if the bikes that bad there has to be some injuries to me. I really checked myself over feeling around and moving everything. My rain suit was shredded and my armoured jacket was full of abrasions and worn right through on my right elbow to the armoured pad. My armoured pants looked the same. I had pair of Kevlar jeans underneath but later I found they didn't have a mark. I didn't have a mark on my body and nothing at all hurt and I felt fine. I didn't think my head had banged off of anything but I took my helmet off and looked it over, not a mark. I went over and wrestled with the bike and got it up right but the kickstand would not come down and was jammed up somehow. I pushed her over to the concrete barrier and leaned it against that. It was still pouring rain and the best I could see the left side was a mess. I threw on the 4-way flashers and dug out my cell phone. Of course my cell phone is dead! As I said not much traffic and what there was, I couldn't get anybody to stop and help me out. Finally someone stopped and of course later I find out he rides and that's why he stopped when he saw me trying to flag him down. Bruno was his name and he called the police for me. The police came and did a report and he called a friend of mine for me, who came with a flat-bed tilt-load and took the bike to his shop, in Vaughan and gave me a lift there. I called Cathy well after 1:30 and woke her up to come get me. She had no idea I had left MD to come home early and was mad, that I hadn't called her to tell her I was on the road on the way home. She drove the hour down from Barrie to get me and I guess she had settled down some, cause she finally ask if I was all right. I was soaked right through by this time, helping to unload & load the bike. (My rain suit was shredded & somehow wasn't doing much to keep me dry!) When we got home I had a hot shower and looked me over again, not even a bruise. Got to bed at 5:15 a.m. And thought, I bet I'd feel it in the morning......... Well I'm not feeling anything out of the ordinary. As I type this, the only thing that is injured, is my pride. I'm OK and grateful that it turned out that way. The bike can be fixed and if not, I guess replaced. Last edited by The Tooch; Today at 06:31 PM.
