It sure was, problem at this time of year a feller can't plan too far ahead, too many things on the go, and weather seems to change it's mind on the go. Harold, Phil and I with my granddaughter went from here to Elfrida, along the escarpment to Effingham, had lunch at Lazy Loon, crossed the penninsula to Lake Erie and then ended up in Dover, home at 6 for me and Harold, maybe 7 for Phil. It was a grand day!!!!

Soak pads with transmission or hydraulic fluid mixed with acetone.

Plan on going for a 'day' ride tomorrow. Leave home about 10, back around 6 or 7. Going to see what's happening in the Niagara Penninsula. Avoiding traffic and cities. Probably spend time on top of the escarpment. Might even sample Lazy Loon food on the way. Got room for more behind me still. Wanta come?

Wow!!!! that sure looks real nice. Kind of narrow though down the center isle I think, and what use are those air-horns, do you have enough air to run them (I think Puc might, but you?) And what's with all the air-conditioners, you planning on having hot stuff in there? and what are we going to do for Maintenance Day, where you gonna park? you not going to SNEAK into Canada with that eh? you gonna be days crossing the border with all that length for them to check out. We have a good friend and he has a birthday today, not only that, but it's kind of a special birthday,,,,,,HE IS NOW 70(seventy) years in the making. On site, his handle is Evan, and he also goes by his real name, and that is Evan as well. I would think that 70 replies to this thread would be very appropriate seeing as he has now left the 60s. His wife Anne looks to be much younger than the age he has now reached, so congratulate her as well. BEST WISHES MR. EVAN, AND MAY YOU BE BLESSED WITH MANY MORE IN GOOD HEALTH AND STATE OF MIND. Carl can make the transfer, just as soon as I get my passports back, could be a week or two. Marca has the utmost desire to go shopping south of the border for some reason, guess it must be girlie stuff, certainly would have nothing to do with Spydermania I sure. Other than the well known 2nd gear issue with the 83,84 and early 85s, the trannies haven't been a discussion item much at all. I would be looking for something else first, like the clutch not working properly. That doesn't mean that there is no issue with your trans, but maybe not very likely.

Glad you feel inspired enough now to carry forward. but as is the case with myself and maybe some others, we are not always sure that we have given out the right information or that the instructions didn't lead somebody down the garden path as is were. So, in keeping with the flavor of this particular family, it would behoove us if you were so inclined to visit back here once more to inform us as to whether we did right or wrong, or maybe somewhere in-between. You may also continue to present more problems that you encounter, for we derive great joy from discussion, especially when one member can set another on a straighter line than he or she was in the habit of following.

The real reason for such a detailed and indepth instruction diabolical is that you would not feel alone. I make a bit of a stab at it, but you, Puc, take the cake. There is no other that could hold a candle to your vivid descriptions of the occurrences that go on. You are the winner!!!! you hold the GOLD star, the red ribbon, the blue ribbon and the trophy. So, just so that you and Bum have company, I,,, once in a great while,,, attempt to develop a tribute to you guys by showing what I have learned so far. It ain't much mind you, my brain is getting on in years and it seems that finding room inside the grey matter is getting to be a difficult task, but I will keep trying to store more of your instructions therein. I would think that you would do things in the right order, so for me: hold the needle in your right hand, then with the left hand grab the spring and oversert it onto the needle, now carefully so as not to get injured, take the metal washer in your left hand and carefully place it over the end of the needle so that it sits squarely on the spring. Next find the little rubber o-ring where of you have spoken and with utmost precision lay it over the end of the needle and gently push it on until it touches the metal washer, again with your left hand. You now have a ready to insert unit to be gently screwed into the hole where it had been removed from some time ago. It may be a good idea to fully investigate the bottom of the hole for any left over o-rings that might have been left there from former generations of MC mechanics. If by chance your little rubber o-ring took a walk while you were attempting to get things in the right order???? good luck in finding another, same goes for the washer or the spring. If you can get your head around it, then a Spyder has all you want. Better range than your friends, comfort for 1 or 2, maneuverability, low maintenance, no weight issue, very spunky, protected and has a dual height windshield, but,,,, does leave the others behind in the corners, yea I said that right!. But like I said, you've got to get your head around it, but once you get used to it, it's a dollar to a donut that you'll wonder what took you so long. Do get a 14 or newer though. And oh ya, it's doesn't fall over at the gas pumps.

Thanks for the compliment Puc, I didn't know I rated as well as Saddlebum,,,, It's a nice feeling to be in class alone with just 3, and I'll not say who the third one would be, but he is the leader, and Bum and myself are still learners in that dept,,,, and Bum being younger than I is, is learnin much faster.

You'll need a new gasket and make sure you have the copper washer in place on the center bottom-most screw.

Off hand I would investigate 2 things. One is a front fork rebuild with progressive springs, and two is to check the steering head for proper torque.

Had one like that on Wayne's 84, ended up drilling the sucker out. Worked out well that time, everything back to OEM, but the engine was out. Took a lot of different bits and drivers and a pile of patience if I remember correct.

Probably if they had shut the machine off before trying to program it, or de-program it, it might have worked. Too much shaking goin on! But,,,,,,,,, did it ride???

If you smell gas, there should be a leak.

So to help with plug removal use an 18mm thin wall socket and I use a universal as a super short extension, then crack the plugs loose, blow air in around the plug area to get rid of any dirt and then spin them out with a short piece of fuel hose that fits snugly over the end of the plug. Putting them back in is the reverse except you don't need to do the air thing. And hey, the carbs aren't all that complicated, if you've done carbs before, these are just a bit different, but not hard.
