Sorry Z, but I'm not going to do that. The supplier was kind enough to agree to the prices and quantity, and I don't feel comfortable going back in and trying to modify the original agreement. It's an ethics thing. I understand you wanting to get your money back on the battery you just bought, but I really don't think the dealer will take it back. Warantee it? Sure. But refund your money? Sorry amigo, I don't think so. I'm going to run these group buys a couple of times a year like the MAC mufflers. If you find you need something in the future you're always welcome to join in on the next list.

The PC680 has a slightly smaller footprint, and is about 1/2 inch taller than stock. It will fit without doing anything, but when I installed the first one I bought, I 'shimmed' the side gaps with styrofoam sheets. I took some 1/2" sheets and cut them to size with a scissors. Worked, and made me feel better. I've now done it to the '83 and the '91. You will need to deal with the low battery warning in the cmu because, being a dry battery, the Odyssey doesn't need the battery sensor. There's a write up on how to do the mod in the tech section.

Yep, it's history for the time being. I only had 4 members sign up and number 5 on the list was yours truly.... All paypal payments have been returned to those members. The reason for such short notice was trying to slide under the wire and get '07 pricing. It was worth a shot, but we didn't make it. So...... I'll start another list in a couple of weeks with 2008 prices and see what happens.

I found some cracks in the manafolds of the '87VR, and even though they didn't appear to go all the way thru I went ahead and painted them with a product called Plasti-Dip. It's a rubberized spray that you can find at Home Depots. The cracks filled and disappeared after a couple of coats. I may not have accomplished anything, but it made me feel a lot better.....

That's the way I feel too Lowell. It would be great if Yamaha de-tuned the Otodama motor and put it into a touring bike. Sort of role reversal. The first v-max was a muscle-modified 1200. Maybe this time they'll take that 210hp motor, bring the hp down to something more manegable with FI that is tuned for mpg and stuff it into an RSV. Nothing beats low end torque like cubic inches.

Well..... We didn't make it, but we did give it a run. Disappointing, but that's life. For those of you that sent your payments thru paypal, thanks. I'll be doing refunds as soon as I get thru posting here. I'll plan on starting another list sometime in the first 2 weeks of January. There'll be an increase in the price the next time around. How much? Anybody's guess.... I just hope it's not a ton.

There ya go. Thanks Rick....

I really don't know Vance. The 680 is quite a bit taller then the 545, and that may be the reason Odyssey recomends the 545 in 2nd Gens. Maybe another member has tried a 680 in their 2nd Gen, and could give a bit of feedback???

As long as you have enough room under the jacket to let the down loft up it'll work great. The warmth comes from the trapped dead air in the down. Cold will penetrate thru seams unless the vest is built with baffles. Down doesn't have a lot of insulating ability when compressed.

2nd Gens are great bikes. Heck, some of my best friends ride 2nd Gens. I used to ride a 2nd Gen. Took it to an IMS show, and parked it in the free MC area filed mostly with HD’s. Came out and tried to find it, but couldn't see it among all the Harleys. Spent the rest of the day waiting for the lot to clear, and when it finally did all that was left was an old stock shovelhead with a flat tire. Grabbed a taxi and went home. Bought a 1stGen and now have no trouble telling it from all the Gold Wings. The 1st is a much classier looking bike….. :whistling::whistling::whistling: :rotf:

BUMP!!!

I tried this company to order a T just before Ft Collins. Very pleased with what I received. The silk screening was perfect, and the quality of the shirt was high end. I can't stand a company that uses a thin materialed cheap T-shirt to save a few bucks. I want the shirt to last a while.

Yeah, I dont know what happened?? Anyway it's been corrected in the original post, and here it is again ODYSSEY Thanks for the heads up Todd.

I just put out the inquirey Dan. If we miss it by one I'm gonna tell on ya.... Dan if we don't make it you'll get your money back. I don't see where there's a problem, but that's fine if you don't want on the list.

I started a thread earlier today in the tech talk section, just to see if we could get enough interest in a group battery buy. I intended on holding off until after the 1st as the supplier was going to have a price increase and it would start to be confusing...for me at least... Anyway I've had enough interest that just maybe we can get a group together in short order. Here's the deal. Let's see if we can put a list of 10 together and beat the dead line. All the batteries will need to be paid for to my Paypal account paypal@cast-aways.com before I can order due to the cost incurred. If we don't get the 10, I'll refund your payments, and we'll start over as planned after the first. For 1stGens the Odyssey is PC680. Your price each to your doorstep will be $99.00. For 2ndGens the Odyssey is PC545. Your price each to your doorstep will be $94.00. These prices work out to be Dealer cost plus $15 bucks to cover shipping and paypal charges. So.... we have the rest of tonight (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) to put this puppy together. Due to time restrictions for Canadian members, go ahead and use the prices above, and I'll notify you later about any extra shipping charges. We're off and running, and I'll edit this post with the number of batteries. PAID BATTERY COUNT....... 5 We're half way there as of 2:00PST This is your last chance to get them before the 2008 prices kick in. And if your hesitant just because you just picked up a wet battery, these puppies will hold a charge on the shelf until your current battery croaks....which should be fairly soon....

Following your last thread I think it might be a little to late Dan. Oh hell, lets try to put an order of 10 batteries together before the end of the year. I'm going to post the anouncement in the watering hole and see if we can get 10 members.... Stay tuned. It's gonna be tight.....

Now it is the Carb!
Condor replied to kycaveman's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I'd say you did what you needed to do. I this case the bike ran great and started great with the second set, and then gradually got worse over time. That's why I suspect the plugged jets. All the diaphrams in both sets were 100% to the good. If nothing else rears it's ugly head, it's gotta be the jets. Especially since all of them are plugged. I'll post a complete report on my findings when I have time to play with the '87 again. I have a sonic cleaner and will probably dip each carb. -
I'm not building a list just yet Jeff. Just trying to find out if there's enough interest. Once you get the batt you can do anything you'd like to with it..... If there is enough I'll start another thread.

6 kids'll do that to ya. We've raised 8 so that's my excuse.....

OK, it seems that we as a group are buying quite a few Odyssey batteries, and I thought I'd toss out this idea on doing a group buy like we've done in the past. I called the Westcoast distributor for Odyssey, and because I've bought directly from them in the past my business is already set up as a dealer even though I've only bought for personal use. They are going to have a price increase right after the first so I can't quote prices yet, but can after the first. There's no way we could put together a group order in only a couple of days. Sorry I didn't think of this sooner...??? The group buy price will be based on 10 units minimum, and any mix of the PC680MJ (1stGen) or PC545 (2ndGen) batteries. There's also a question of a possible drop ship directly from the distributor which could save a few more bucks over all. More on that later. So, is there any interest from the board?? If not, that's OK, just thought I'd ask....

Another 2ndGen halucinating........ :rotf:
