  1. Joe, if you poke around the site you'll find that these 'scoots' are actually considered MC's and a couple of models haul a$$. Not your typical $1000 chinese electric scooter.
  2. Last year Ft.Collins was scheduled for a Monday to Friday. Gave folks 2 days to get there and two days to get back. However, everyone started bailing on Thurs for a more leisurely ride home, and giving everyone a Sunday to kick back before going back to work. Myself included. So this years rally is based on past experience....ergo Monday thru Thursday. I would have thought this years event would have gotten a lot more interest from those members in the Midwest and great lakes area due to it being a lot closer than Colorado. It's a 3-4 day ride for most of us out here in the west and that's why I opted out this time around. But rest assured if it were being held anywhere within a two days ride I'd be there. A two day ride from Kirchner covers a lot of members.
  3. Common Steve, you know the rules. Where's the pics???
  4. There originally was a plug/cap that fit in there on the Royales. Your's may have gotten legs. It actually didn't fit in the hole but on the flange underneath the cover. The '84 I just picked up has a button installed in the hole. I still haven't figured out what the dang thing does yet....
  5. Yep, pick up a used 6x12 inclosed trailer with a rear ramp gate.....
  6. Mike, don't get your knickers in a twist. I never said they did, but I'll play along with you. WHO DOES???
  7. 4 or 5 years ago I'd have agree'd with you 100% George, but.... times are changing. Drive your current cage that gets 20 mpg 10,000 miles and you've bought 500 gallons of fuel. Presently that works out to $2,000 bucks at $4.00/gal. 20¢ per mile. And the price hasn't hit max yet. One of these scoots get's 100 miles out of a one dollar charge, or a penny a mile. If I could find something affordable that could be used to cheaply run errands around town I'd seriously look at it. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if golf carts start winning favor with the public. It costs me .31¢ a mile to run the F250 anywhere. 30 miles is pushing a 10 dollar bill. So it sits a lot and when it does get used it better be for a very good reason. Like picking up another Venture....
  8. Pretty interesting MC. 100 mile range at full power. http://www.evcusa.com/ ...
  9. I'm kinda confoosed here. Every one of the links you posted is based on demand which in turn creates short supply, yet your header says it has nothing to do with supply and demand????????????? Demand is created many different ways. Stockpiling by investors is one way to reduce available supply. Buy direct, don't buy from the investor. If the price is too high direct, don't buy, live on what we have. Believe me, prices will come down. And as long as we're posting links, here's an up-to-date report. http://www.energybulletin.net/44075.html
  10. I used to get a pizza, a quart... you remember a quart.....of soda, and a drive-in movie with that $5 bucks too Eck... Fuel prices are driving us into the dumpster, and unfortunately enjoying it while we can ain't gonna get it any more. It's happening too fast. The only way we can reverse the upward cost spiral is reduce the demand. If having unaffordable fuel is the only way anyone can think of to reduce demand, so be it. Once we past the threshhold of unaffordablity for the masses.. if we haven't already haven't... the price will continue to increase as big oil, that is now used to earning big profits, raise prices to maintain their earnings. It's all supply and demand economics. Maybe the movie MAD MAX wasn't so far off....
  11. Just a kid at 67.....

    164!

At 164mph he wasn't passing those cars very fast. Sure it wasn't 164KPH.
  13. Thanks Dan..... I think???
  14. If it looses 2nd gear, I'll agree, it's a 1200...... Until then it's a 13...
  15. ...
  16. Squeeze... You're playing 'yes but', and 'what if'. Theory's are a dime a dozen, everybody has one. It's a 1300........
  17. It's a supply and demand thing Squeeze. US oil for US consumption only. How long do you think the world fuel prices would continue to sky rocket if the US, the worlds largest consumer, stopped buying foriegn crude. Maybe we should take a few lessons from SAM's Club.....
  18. George, the milage is 99K, but the 1300 motor was put in at 88K. According to the owners son it's been to Alaska, and the east coast a couple of times. The starter clutch sounds solid, and the white stator wires and plug were the typical mess. So they've been fixed and the stator is statin'.... The carbs have been pulled, cleaned, and sync'd. Brakes need to be taken care of, but things are lookin' up.....
  19. I thought about that, but it's not very likely that someone would go thru that kind of trouble to change out a clutch basket and move backwards. There's all kinds of 'what ifs', but I've drawn the line in the sand. It's a 1300. Just like the last Owner entered into his maintence log.
  20. Well it ain't a mystery no more.... I was getting tired of speculation, went out and pulled the clutch cover, and it has a 1300cc 86-93 clutch basket. Maybe the first 86's came with the yics covers until they ran out??? In any event, it's a 1300....
  21. ON SOAPBOX What's it going to be like when the world runs out of oil. I think we're finding out very quickly. Affordable fuel for transportation is becoming extinct. I just drove buy my gas station and diesel was $4.85 per gallon. Regular is a little less than $4.00 per gallon. Crude is going for $134+ per barrel. The world is being held hostage by the 'haves'. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm a 'have not', and can't afford to drive the truck any longer, and the suburban is sitting a lot. It runs the same to fill up the scoot as it did to fill up the family car a few years ago, and it's going to get worse. The big problem is a family doesn't fit on a scoot. The high cost of fuel is also costing us in other areas as well. Everything sold is going up in price. Shipping is quickly creeping up in cost. The US was considered the most powerfull nation on earth, and we're being brought to our knees by our dependence on affordable fuel. All this and wages are stagnant, and even if they weren't there's no way they could keep up with the increase in the cost of living. Our economy is in the dumpster. Have you noticed that there's no mention by the government about the cost of living lately? We used to hear about it all the time. I don't think they want to admit how bad it really is.... I pity the young family with a couple of kids surviving in this economic climate. I pity those who are retired and on a fixed income dealing with their monthly bills. I pity the business owners who are going out of business because they can no longer survive because everyone is stuffing any spare change into their gas tank. I'm not sure what the answers are.... I have my own opinions... but if we're going to survive as a country something needs to be done quickly. Sticking our head in the sand and waiting for the problem to go away just ain't going to get it... OFF SOAPBOX
  22. The '91 came with something along that line. Attached is a pic when I first got her home. It's also 18" high vs. the 22" standard heigth...
  23. Keep very detailed notes Dan.... Lead the way..
  24. Kurt the stator cover has YAMAHA/YICS on it. Doesn't say 1200. Don't confoose me any more than I already am..... So it still could be an '86 1300, or... a 12 with a 1300 clutch cover. Only pulling the clutch cover will tell for sure. However, I just looked at the '87 and it has the 1300 stator cover.
