I got mine in Alaska when I was 17. They had just started requiring it and I was one of the first people to get one in Anchorage. It was the first time for the examiner I had. They had a course you had to ride. At one point the guy said he would have an imaginary dog run out and he would tell from which side. I drove around the oval twice and then he yelled "dog from the right" and I thought he said "swerve right" so I swerved right. He was going to fail me for "running over his dog" until I told him I missed his dog because I went behind the dog. He was laughing so hard he just signed the papers and sent me in to get my license. I am saddened to hear of the loss of your cousin. He had to be an extremely special and great person to have been an Alaska State Trooper. Those men and women are a breed apart. Don, sometimes women miss the important parts because we men try to be to subtle when explaining things to them. I am sure that Eileen just missed :confused24:the subtle hints about Miss Tomei's :draming:involvement in your achievement of happiness. My recommendation:backinmyday: is that you drop the trying to be subtle and start be MUCH more direct :scared:about it.

Find a dealer that not only has rental guns but also is someone who knows shooting techniques and practices. As you try each one write down a few notes of your impressions. After you have tried out several different types of calibers and brands discuss with the dealer your likes and dislikes of each one. If it is a good dealer they will help you evaluate your needs, capabilities and observations and advise you on a gun that will be the best for you. I am lucky that I have such a dealer who led me away from a model and caliber I thought I could get by with and pointed me to what has become one of my most favorite weapons in a caliber I wasn't even thinking about. Oh, by the way the one he pointed me to was several hundred dollars less than the one I thought I wanted. Sad to say but under IL law the landlord is only required to provide "effective waterproofing and weather protection of the roof and exterior walls, including windows and doors." Wether or not plastic sheeting is consider effective waterproofing and weather protection may have to be decided by a judge. You might start be contacting the City of Peru Building and Zoning office at 815-223-1148. If they can't help you they might be able to point you in the right direction. I made the move up from a Sporty to the Venture as well. That was 5 years ago and I never regret one single minute if it. I did keep the Sporty but I bet I haven't added 5,000 miles on it in those five years. Who ever said it is the difference between a mini bike and a real motorcycle was exactly right. It feels like a toy to me when I do ride it. As for the F4 windshield I put one on at 27K miles and I am now at 80K miles and it is still in excellent condition. The only scratches on it are from when some young lads where throwing hand fulls of big gravel at the bike. One of the best, if not the best, investments I have made to this bike. As for comfort my Sweetie REFUSES to EVER ride the back of the Sporty again. She is so comfortable on the Venture that she has fallen asleep back there more than once. Enjoy the Venture and be sure to post some pics of the big smiles both you and your rider will be wearing from riding that bike with the great group of folks you will get to know from here. In the IS lane splitting is an accepted practice in California and ONLY in California. It is a practice I used when I lived there. I limited it to no more than 20 to 25 mph if the traffic was moving at the speed I filtered into a lane and I only lane split on the freeway. My observations were that traffic expected it and positioned themselves in their lane to facilitate it. I never had anyone swerve at me or open a door on me or ever try to block me from lane sitting. That being said it is not a practice I would consider doing in any other state. The cagers do not expect it so they do get upset when it is done and they will do things that endanger you. When done in an environment where it is an accepted practice with prudent limitations it is a technique I will employ, and when it is an environment that it is not an accepted practice, or where I can not apply prudent limitations, then I will not employ the technique. As always if someone I am riding with does not like the techniques I apply to my riding they are not obligated to apply them just as I am not obligated to use the techniques they apply that I disagree with. Whenever I see or hear a run in progress I always say a quick prayer "Lord please keep everyone safe and allow them all to go home tonight". I encourage everyone to do so.
