  1. The proccess of Contacting the Dealer and Yamaha Is the right thing to do. 1 thing to keep in mind with the clutch basket noise is this. From what I know there is what they call "Straight Cut Gears" involved Meaning they will be noisy BUT...... will last almost forever. Hmmmmm. The replacing of the "clutch basket, Which Yamaha Is fully aware of will move the noise out of you ears and somwhere else. Muffle it so to speak. If anyone is like I ,whom have neve ridden a bike with Fairings and cowls and all the extra things to keep the elements off of the rider, then thik of this. You really dont know how loud any bike is unless you have all these extras in play. What i mean is this. When i first bought my Honda sabre I rode it for months without a windshield and with factory exhaust. Do you know what i heard? whossssssh the wind. Then i changed the exhaust (still no windshield). You know what I heard BlubBlub BlubBlub Whoooooosh. The point being that engine could have sounded like a Bucket of bolts ratling around but i couldnt hear it. I agree they Yamaha should redesign somthing to make all new ventures as quite as a clock but remember this. Everything i have found on this Bike says this. This Bike is a workhorse. Built to be tough and last a long time. i think i might be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel because the dealer thinks they found the problem with mine (after replacing the clutch basket, Lubing the spline and it appears it is the middle drive gear that needs to be shimmed). So give them a little time, get invovled, and keep on them. I finally had to call Yama And they got the General Manager from the DEALER INVOVLED. Now i get updated from him and they have been every other day or so on the progress. It looks like i might have it back this weekend. In closing, to answer my own question that started this posting. As much time as they need to fix the problem, But stay involved.
  2. I's a couple of years old so the answer to return is no. well sense your only an hour or so from me i'll just come bt when i need to lift the bike and work on it there . Just kidding. We were talking about you at the VA> Meat and Eats the other week. Riderduke was saying you were closer to MD the he was.We will have to meet up 1 day for the next one. Thanks for the input.
  3. I was just wondering I bought my lift from JP cycle http://www.jpcycles.com/productgroup.aspx?GID=6A4CA77F-0852-4CC0-AB14-D3475D70BC02 i dont think it is a larin so im thinking i would need just the original adapter. What do you think
  4. yeah i have noticed that also. Thats why i asked the question cause mine is in the shop for the noise. I just wanted to know how much to live with when i get it back.
  5. I too have the big blue. i'm not wanting or expecting total quite but i'm just wondering how much is normal?
  6. This post ties in with my other about my 07 RSV. HOW MUCH NOISE IS NORMAL FROM THESE BIKES? I am talking about engine and drive train only.
  7. Ok so I get a phone call from the Dealer yesterday evening. It the General Manager. He tells me that they replaced the clutch basket and checked the rear spline for grease. but the sound that he is hearing is coming from the middle drive area. He goes on to say that there are 3 diferrent shims to order and they are not sure if it needs to shims up or shim out,so they will order the set of 3. Then we continue to talk about the Venture and he says that they are "noisey: bikes. Hmm I do expect some engine noise but not this much. I dont want anyone to think that I am Becoming A pain in the Butt customer. I just want the bike fixed and fixed right. He also tells me that he is not sure if they can Quite it down or not. to be continued The Sage Of Mikes Noisey Venture
  8. Well it been 2 week now and no bike. Yesterday i called the dealer and they told me it was going on the lift tommorrow. I asked if it wasn't the clutch basket (which i dont think it is) how long before they got to the next step? the reply was "not sure". So i then called Yamaha Customer Service. I explained why i took the bike into the dealer , because of the "Rear end noise" and talked with him about the other know issues with the venture and told him that they have had the bike for 2 weeks now and that in 2 more weeks that the "Lemon Law " comes in to play. After he gathered all the details from me he asked if the dealer was still opened. I said Yes. So he asked me to hold on and he was going to call the service dept. After a 10 minute hold he came back on the line and informed me that the clutch basket will be replaced in the morning and is this was not the problem the dealer would get right to "plan B" (looking into the rear). The yama rep. told me to let them know if i need anymore assistance and they will be glad to help. Oh well i will keep you posted as to how it works out.
  9. Thats the route they are taking with mine. At first the dealer was gonna tear down the final drive. Then they contacted the Yama Rep. The Rep told them to change the clutch basket first. When i called the dealer they told me they had to do what Yama tells them. I told the dealer "well iguess if it has 3 known problems maybe they will fix them all while its there. I do not believe it is the clutch basket but theyr'e paying the bill and all i'm out is the bike for a fw more weeks.
  10. Well thats what i was thinking. I figured the dealers hands are tied as to what they can fix. Luckly (maybe ) the dealer diagnosed the problem and the Yama Rep agreed cause they are lookind at the final drive. My thing is that they have had it for a week now and they are just getting to the tear down to see if this is it. I will try to be patient.
  11. How long should i give the dealer to fix my 07 for the rear end noise:sick: before i start jumping up and down and screamming? I dropped it off last week and they are just getting to take the final drive off. They say they spoke to the Yama service rep and it seems as though they waiting for the rep to tell them what to look for and how to repair. I thought these dealers were supossed to be service tech's.
  12. Not sure in your case. It might be the grease just breaking down when it gets warm. Hopefully somone will chime in here.
  13. Keep us all posted on your outcome. I too am going through the same ordeal. I took it back to the dealer yesterday:080402gudl_prv: and i'm hoping that they know or even can fix this issue. I dont have alot of confidence in the. I will keep you posted also as to what happens with mine.
  14. your problem sounds like mine although its not in the helmet. Did the sound actually go away?
  15. tHATS WHY I LIKE THIS KIND OF SITE CAUSE THERES LOYS OF GOOD INFORMATION.
  16. but i'm not sure if the noise is comming from the front or rear. Hmmmm oh well i'll let them worry about it.
  17. I was just reading that. I think i will take it back to the dealer sinse it is new and under warenty and complain of the noise. They should do the repair under warrenty. Thanks for the input. The more i think about it it sounds like this may be the problem.
  18. SO ADD GREASE WHERE? IS IT EASY TO GET TO?
  19. Ok OK OK i dont know if this is consideed a drop but..... In PA over the Labor day weekend. We were in a tight parking spot. My Wife asked me "do you want me to wait till you get pulled out (no jokes here). I said (being the 6'1 220 lb tough guy that I am) No you can get on. So i started out and hard to make a slow speed hard left turn. When i turned the wheel left ...there she started leaning and falling. It took everthing i had but all I could do was let it slowly lean over until it rested on the crash bar. No boby got hurt and luckly some guy came over and gave us a hand lifting it back up. No damage except to my pride. Man this is one top heavy mother. esp. with 2 up.
  20. they did whatever the service (owner manual) called for. I dont believe it called for the front and after drive shaft spline.
  21. I had my 1st service done a few hundred miles ago. we went up to PA. over the weekend. About half way up there i started hearing what sounded like a whining gear grinding sound. It only seems to happen in 5th gear, when throttle on but not under a load (like pulling a hill). when coming down a hill if its coasting theres no noiose unless you ease on the throtle slightly. Is this the norm for the engine whine i have been reading about? I hadd all the oils changed at 600 miles and everything is synth. It only happens after the engine is warmed up.
  22. HAS ANYONE TRIED TO HAVE YAMAHA CORRECT THIS ISSUE? IT SOUNDS TO ME THAT WHEN YOU GO TO SELL A VEHICLE YOUR STSTING THAT THE MILAGE IS CORRECT. IF THIS IS A KNOWN FACT THEN YAMAHA IS NOT COMPLYING WITH DMV STANDAERDS. JUST MY 2 CENT. I DO BELIEVE THAT MOST ALL METRICS ARE PROGRAMMED THIS WAY.
  23. Changing the mufflers wont void the warrenty will it? I have the factory 5 year and would hate to void it by changing out the muffler and maybe doing the air/fuel mixture adjustment.
  24. nice hook up. If and when i ever need to take the fairing apart i will wire mine in with the "Y" connection. I'm just wondering though. Everybody seem set on mounting on the right side. I just switched locations of mine to the left side just under the radio mount. It just seemed better cause my left hand is used to being free between gears. Just my thoughts.
