  1. hello every one finally got my bike back from the shop( again) $350 later seems to be running Ok and no more leaking carburetors I found a place relatively near by; that sells what they call Rec 90 gasoline, it claims to be ETHANOL FREE and 90 octane I used a couple times already, and can't tell much of the difference but then again bike wasn't running very good ................. anybody have use this gas from Valero here in Florida any good or bad experiences with it ?
  2. Dan very sorry about your loss
  3. :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf:thank you!! this really help me to go through this "bikeless" beautiful weekend
  4. great timing just got the RK pipes on the mail yesterday:cool10: thanks for the pics!!! .................. bike is in the shop again carburetors leak:confused24: .......... since I don't have the bike yet what was the aprox diameter of the p clamp (1/2"?) so I can star looking for a pair and have you drilled holes in it?and hopefully I get my bike running properly this time,if not I'm gonna have quietest RK pipes you've seen
  5. thanks a lot ! I will try to get a cheap set to play with. keep the OEM as someone recommended on this site. the catalytic being inside the slip on was my concern. on my book being on the road it is a good thing
  6. A set of 2013 Harley Road King will fit in my 05 RSTD or do have to look for an older version?
  7. I don't think you would want to use a solvent for any reason on final gear ........... if anything I will do some research about adding good old Marvel oil but I don't know research and ask before
  8. Something it's up with the weather we are having record lows in northern hemisphere and records highs in the southern hemisphere at least in south America (Argentina- Uruguay)
  9. it is cold even in fort Lauderdale Florida right now 10:00 am and is 49F ......... and going fort a short ride just to remember old times
  10. Congratulations!!!! got mine a little over a month ago and I already put a thousand miles on her paid about the same ($5900) it had some carburetors issues from sitting a long time but, they got it right afterwards and she is getting better everyday they are good bikes and the group is better
  11. thanks a lot for all the replies I'm really overwhelmed just to clarify a couple things: 1) the Helmet or not helmet law in Florida establish that if you choose not to wear a helmet you must have a minimum of 10k medical insurance (not sure about the exact amount) basically what they are saying is : you have the right to choose (which I 'm 100% agree) we just not going to pay for it 2) Never said that I don't have insurance but assuming it is human nature. the bike it's paid for, and wanted to save some money and a liability only will be fine. I know now by your responses that I can get it for about $100-$150 have to renew my policy before the end of the month, and having the bike with the same people we have the car and truck it is costing an extra $350-$400 and they said it was the best they could do so I guess at least the bike will be out of there
  12. thank you very much !!! that is what I'm talking about !!!! Farmers = $140 year 100% agree it is a no brainer
  13. thank you guys but, with all the respect and it is my fault with this broken English that I speak/write , my question wasn't if one should get insurance or not. the question was : where to get one what company and or premiums for a liability only ? that that will cover me on other states in case I travel a little
  14. Happy new year to all the group I understand as long as we wear a helmet we are not required to have insurance on our bikes in Florida but, I was wondering what kind of experience or leads you have on this topic. I was wondering how much it will be to get a liability only insurance in my bike, don't care for bike replacement, just in case if I travel on any other state I will be legal and don't get sued in case of an accident:fingers-crossed-emo Back in the day on California I had something like that in my bike and if I not mistaking was under $100 per year
  15. Happy new year to everyone in the group!!!!! thanks GOD Christmas is over and, don't have to listen to Jose Feliciano until the next one
  16. I recently got my RSTD and was reluctant about getting a bike with carburetors but, they work just fine and they have been proven for over 20 years on this engine, not trying to say it is better but with bad gas EFI fails too and, that's when you wish you had carburetors bottom line if you are looking for a reliable, durable, comfortable heavy touring bike for a third of the money look no further if you want and/or need the latest technology this is not the bike
  17. my condolences and we understand what a ride can do to our pains ............... it's weird how two wheels can help our minds and souls better than four ....................I am sure He will be ridding with you

    COLD

kind of cold down here too ............ we went to the beach but didn't stay pretty long it was around 73 I guess, people in the water I'd bet money they were Canadians
  19. excuse my ignorance but, what are trailers for?
  20. that is the question ......... my o5 RSTD is the first bike I have with a windshield (aging?) I love the "silence cone" you get but, I'm a kinda short guy (5'7") and have to look through the windshield and it gets kind of scary when it rains and, don't like the glare at night. to the guys that have the windshield shorter what is your experience? are you happy with it? I know I will gain in visibility but, afraid to lose the comfort I have now with too much wind buffeting. don't care much about passenger comfort since I ride solo 99.9% of times thank you all and have a merry Christmas
  21. very well said ........... I Did NOT wear a Helmet all the time, after reading your words and because I have an 8 y/o son I will . your words really touch me what can I say only thank you Man Dan
  22. merry Christmas to you and the best on 2014
  23. MMMMMM interesting when I was a little boy (many many moons ago) I used to ride in the tank of my Dad's BMW/R .......... Ural kind of remind me those and now they coming EFI and they even have one with my name all over, the "Ural Gaucho Rambler " if I only had the dough and a garage but who knows, that is one of the many things I love about this country if you really want something there is nothing impossible:whistling:
  24. isn't that big of a mess just about the size of a quarter overnight plus I park outside (no garage) covered of course.
  25. I was reading some old post trying to get some info in the subject and , I think I'm guilty of adding a little too much oil in my bike and it is leaking from the breather .............. my question is : will I hurt anything if I leave like this until next oil change ? or you suggest to drain the extra oil? I think it is not much. thanks in advance Dan
