finished putting everything where it belongs I'm really surprised neither spare or missing screws lol......... took the bike for a short ride never checked the other rectifier but this one gets really hot you can barely touch it is it normal??? I guess time will tell
-
the Rectifier arrived yesterday holes and plug matches is just a little smaller so will see how well dissipates heat the most important thing is that it WORKS !!! my bike is charging again if it last awhile I going to buy another just to have an spare because I know that if I have an spare I will never need another again lol want to thanks everyone that helped me Dan
-
just purchased this one will see how it works ..........it should arrive before Tuesday when I was looking at the original from a dealer in the Yamaha bag says made in china and was over $100 so I take a chance with this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/281141551628?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#vi-ilComp

The ones on eBay for about $30 are new but of course not OEM they are aftermarket (Chinese I'm guessing) before I order going to check if I get the same AC voltage at the RR plug
-
I'm in a roll today lol still trying to figure out why my charging system doesn't work encounter that on my 05 RSTD the frame and Vin number match but engine doesn't are they suppose to match or not ?
-
thanks condor! yeah you make me feel better because I was thinking the same thing I had it in my hand a couple of times and tested ok but I can get one for about 30 Bucks and I wouldn't mind have an spare if is not it
-
just found the connector with the 3 white wires. is under the coolant reservoir ! good news is tested ok with ohmmeter no grounded, equal resistance on all 3 also put my voltage meter and just increasing rpm a little goes to 80 volts AC Bad news is the bike still doesn't charge this is getting personal now if the storm allows me going to get pins to puncture insulation too see if makes a good connection
-
my charging system doesn't work RR tested ok and at the RR plug tested the stator ok I've read somewhere that there is a 3 white wire connector with the stator windings on the left side only found a 3 wire connector with different colors wires and very thing does any one know of another location ?
-
tested the rectifier and is ok the stator tested at the rectifier plug and seems to be ok it has all equal resistance and isn't grounded ................. I was trying to find the 3 white wire connector on the left battery cover side and couldn't all I see is a thin different colors wire connector took the main fuse holder out and that "gizmo" seems to be some kind of relay on the main power supply does anybody knows what it does and how to test it?? sorry disregard the question just found out what the "gizmo" was is the starting relay and I guess is working because the bike stars it is raining now and my back hurts a lot going to get back at it tomorrow morning
-
found rectifiers on EBay starting at $32 have no clue how to test mine for a lack of diagram but for $32 I would take a chance, it will be cheaper than taking it to a mechanic, worse case scenario I will have an spare lol thanks again

installed the charged battery fired up ok but, measured 12.3 Volts at the battery and it doesn't increase a bit no matter how hard I rev the engine Basically not charging at al all, found a fuse box on left side battery cover but those are label as head light, turn signal etc (all ok) also found a couple 30AMP fuses by left side passenger foot rest they are ok does any body know if there any fuse for the charging system and its location ? I know it has a lot to do with wishful thinking Dan

few years ago living in Southern California had a 65 Cadillac convertible aka "pimpmobile" (still missing it) and the insurance Company was Hagerty
-
had the "borrowed" charger for two nights and part of the day so I did couple lunches and dinners lol. did not use it continuously because isn't mine just now the battery itself is holding 12.5V when left alone and still charging about 1.2 Amps going to let it charge some more and going to star the bike around noon .......... I have one of those jumpers gizmos that fit on my saddlebags if I go for a ride I take it with me just in case when I buy a battery charger/maintainer will get a good one, hate to pay battery tender prices but, will hate even more to fry a battery.
-
Thanks you all ......... a biker neighbor lend me a small charger last night and still charging it's showing 12v now. I going to live it a while longer at 1 amp is not going to hurt anything. since February haven't ride much and only very short distances to like a convenient store and such . as per your advices I going to get a small charger and take it from there
-
Haven't been able to ride for a long time for health reasons and although I was starting the bike every now and then, the bike failed to star this weekend battery was totally dead going to charge it overnight and hope for the best in case this doesn't work I'm going to need a new battery what are your recommendations and or experience with different types or brands money is very tight, so want to spend as little as possible but I know this bikes are heavy and I'M feeling old cripple to be pushing my RSTD thanks in advance Dan

Long time ago I used to buy cars with salvage title form AAA insurance in Los Angeles ....... automobile Club of southern California (AAA) insurance would rather totaled the car and then auctioned it , than dealing with body shops inspectors etc etc, some cars had just small accidents and I wouldn't purchased anything that was hit in the front. I mainly bought and kept them for myself and they were great, but they were harder to sell than a rock .............. honestly if is not totally necessary I will stay away from it ! specially that you don't know the reason why it was salvaged, in my case I was able to see the damage "guesstimate" the repair.

great pics!! and the BBQ just makes me homesick

$6800 and 84 mpg !!! I don't know but is hard to believe either one 84mpg is what I get on a 50cc scooter and not all the time.
-
I think I might not make it again $%^& DR office just called got X-rays results and I got a lumbar L1 fracture ........... no wonder it hurts like a @#$% and the RSTD was getting heavier and heavier . I was riding the 50cc Kymco scooter more than anything just to get the my "wind therapy" lol they call me crazy for a reason because I'm pissed but on the other hand I'm happy because at least we know was wrong .......... please bear with me I needed to vent
-

Biker killed, how fast do you think he was going?
crazygaucho replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
looking back, not being able to afford a really fast bike on my days it was actually a blessing. they call me crazy for a reason but I think there is a very bad combination going on, very fast bikes plus a generation of kids that grew up playing nintendo and playstation ....... -
I wish I could make this time !!! medication is not helping much with pain, my Doctor order an MRI still 3 weeks I might be better as of today I'm riding a 50cc KYmco scooter lol just to get some wind in my face
