Freebird Posted April 27, 2008 Share #1 Posted April 27, 2008 I see posts all the time about shopping for insurance. I know that it varies greatly by location, driving record, many other things. I'm just curious about who pays the very least. Whether it be only liability or whatever. I just paid mine online this morning. I've never carried anything but liability on my RSV since the day I bought it. I pay $99.00 per year through Progressive. Anybody paying less? I'll bet there is. friesman Posted April 27, 2008 Share #9 Posted April 27, 2008 I live in Sasktachewan, kinda the last holdout of the socialists in North America. The provincial government runs some major corporations here that they feel can keep prices down by underwriting it themselves, but I think I am being fed a line of b.s. Our registration, plate and insurance is all lumped together as one charge. my registration and insurance for my 85 1st gen with 500k liabiilty and 700 deductible costs about 749 bux a year .( I get a 20% discount for good driving off that). But I usually turn in the plate and cancel insurance after about 6 months (very occasionally 7) and I let it sit with no insurance the rest of the year when its bein stored. That doesnt include any medical as all our medical and hospital stays are covered by our medicare program Brian
FROG MAN Posted April 27, 2008 Share #10 Posted April 27, 2008 I pay $173 a year for liability on all three scoots. About $6.00 a month per scoot. My auto and motorcycle insurance is through GMAC. They saved me $600 a year on auto over Nationwide. I was a 30 year customer of Nationwides.
kj4v Posted April 27, 2008 Share #11 Posted April 27, 2008 My Ins. went from 250 a year on a 2002 RSV to 500 a year on a 2007 rsv with the same coverage. Wished I had checked that out before I traded. Oh progressive INS....Ken

BOO Posted April 27, 2008 Share #13 Posted April 27, 2008 Not sure what I pay but I too have only Liability but on two bikes. Geico. Of course there is a lot of different parts to Liability. I carry a pretty high Medical insurance, I find that $10,000 or $20,000 ain't going to buy much if someone riding on the back gets hurt. Guest Vermincelli Posted April 27, 2008 Share #14 Posted April 27, 2008 Gieco here too. Unfortunately here in Nevada, they have a state mandated minimum price so it's $99 for each of my bikes. My little CM400A would be $10 a year and $30 for my Venture if it wasn't for that.
juggler Posted April 27, 2008 Share #15 Posted April 27, 2008 I just renewed with Progressive for this year. I pay a bit more than others, but I carry full insurance. I have no points on my driving record (knock on wood). And I just increased my coverage this year by maxing out the Person injury protection to 25k per person. Before I increased my coverage I would have paid $450 for this year. My new premium is $722/year (including an $83 discount for paying in full) for the following: Liability: Bodily Injury: $250,000 each person /$500,000 each accident Property Damage: $100,000 each accdent ------------------------------------ Un/Under Insured motorist: $250,000 each person/$500,000 each accident ------------------------------------ Medical Payments: $25,000 each person ------------------------------------ Comprehensive $125 deductible Collision $125 deductible Accessory Damage $3,000 Roadside Assistance In order to compare rates you really need to know everything above. Then even if all is the same your location changes the rates. If I lived out east my rates would be higher. If I lived in a more rural part of MN, my rates would be lower. Cheers, :mo money:

Guest byts Posted April 27, 2008 Share #17 Posted April 27, 2008 I think I should move!! $210 PER MONTH! I also have the maximum amount of discounts possible (25% off). haven't been caught speeding, so that helps as well. There is no other company that will supply insurance, for ours is like a monopoly. (no choice) I was paying 80 something a month for liability only for just my Harley and when we got the Yamaha, It jumped to 280 something. I took a double take and told my wife that is not right, so I went on line and got with Progressive and got both bikes fully covered for around the same I was paying before for liability on the Harley. Reshired Posted April 27, 2008 Share #19 Posted April 27, 2008 The other company was Liberty Mutual which gives us great rates on our cars does not do much buisness on motorcycles so their rates are a lot higher. You have to shop for the companies that specialize in MI.
Venturous Randy Posted April 28, 2008 Share #20 Posted April 28, 2008 I have had Allstate for years on everything (bike 4 cars and house) I changed everything but the bike over to Farm Bureau. FB did not want to insure the Venture, but insured my son's crotch rocket. Until last year I was paying about $90 for a year with Allstate for libility and uninsured motorists. After Yammerdan's crash, I ended up raising my minimums a bunch to help in the underinsured part and now it is about $160 a year. RandyA
eagleeye Posted April 28, 2008 Share #21 Posted April 28, 2008 Well, I went with Markel last week. Switched from Progressive-- Pay $323 for full coverage for the 05 RSTD and liability for the 86 VR. Pretty standard coverage:100-300-50 uninsured: 25-50 500 deduct. Steve
BradT Posted April 28, 2008 Share #22 Posted April 28, 2008 Approx 1300 per year, full coverage on two bikes. For some of those rates you might as well have more than one bike in the garage. BRad
