Favorite accessories

Hello again. I was wondering what you guys have got for accessories and creature comforts for your ride. I've heard of some nice comforts such as heated vests, blue tooth communications, gps, etc. and wondered what you all like ( and dislike, for that matter).

The first thing I put on was a Stebel horn and more LED lights. The stock horn on the older VR's is abysmal. I was embarrassed to use it. And only one taillight made me uncomfortable because I was waiting for someone to hit me in the rear. The more lights that are on the bike, the better I like it.

My Ipod and my backrest

 

Did you get the Ipod with your 2013 mounted in the saddle bag. Curious how it works through the control head ?

 

I am awaiting delivery of the bike, so I'm not sure yet. It looks to me like Canada only gets the iPod shuffle. I assume there is no control through the head unit, as it is only an aux input, which I think is audio only, no control function.

  • You will never regret getting a drivers back rest... and ...
  • a set of good riding foot pegs or boards These two items create the "ultimate comfort" ride on any RSV.

  • Handle bar rizers may be an item to review for your personal comfort
  • Installing a windshield vent really helps provide that "extra breeze" on hot days.
  • Ipod / MP3 player for your personal sounds of enjoyment while riding
  • GPS ...used only on those days when you know where you want to go.
  • You may find changing the stock grips to an alternate type may also provide comfort.

Or you can just get a GW...:rasberry: :twing:

Oh believe me, the GW needs some help to in comfort also...........:biker:

Gee, I've added soo many accessories it's hard to pick the best ones, so for my comfort it mwould be the backrest, the highway pegs, and the larger vented windshield. Keeps me warmer in cool weasther, and opening the vent in warmer weather helps. Also for cooler weather those knee lower fairing deflectors help out. For the wife her diamond R foot pegs help out and she uses them a lot! Also moving the trunk back gave her even more room. She loves her Carbon One arm rests and her king size stainless steel beverage holder. We both benefit from heated vests and the satellite radio. I'll be enjoying my Flanders handlebars with the heated grips this riding season. All those LED lights all over make us seen by traffic. The rest is safety chrome, GPS, and toys.

 

I strongly urge you to first replace that totally inadequate horn with a Steibal or Wolo Bad Boy. It changes the horn from "excuse me please" to "HEY!!!!"

Comfort wise I would have to say the drivers backrest and a pair of highway pegs I transfered over from the former ride. Risers for handlebars. I felt like I had to reach forward, so I moved them back a little.

 

Safety wise I would say ditto on the stebel horn's (yes 2) and more lighting. I added the light bars across the back and recently I changed out the reflector on the side of the rear by the bags and have parts to do the ones on the front forks to amber. So all the lights will act as running and turn signals to help with being seen. Well I hope anyways.

100 LED lights by custom dynamic

Extra light bar by standard dynamics

Kuryakyn highway pedals

Lighted trunk strip ( whatever it's called)

Utopia back rest

Aux for iPod,or mp3

Came with clarion 6 disc CD player

 

NOW I NEED THOSE HORNS !!!!! And more chrome

My 2012 came with Star branded IPod touch. Not real impressed with the interface, but it works. You need to pick your play list or put in on Random before plugging it in. The only control over the IPod from stock is to switch between it and radio etc. I can also hit the up and down buttons to skip to the next or previous song in the playlist.

Totally agree with the wife being the best "accesory" on a bike however a few of you mentioned moving the trunk back an inch? Never heard of that. Where do I find the items needed to do this? For the new horn does that just mount to the same area as the old one then? Sorry for the silly questions but I am just getting on the Venture as well from a Vulcan.

You have to think real safety first.

Wolo Bad Boy or Stieble horn and a lot more lights are the 2 biggest things that need to be done first. Then comes the comfort stuff like backrest, highway pegs. move the trunk, heated gear etc. Then comes the bling and toys.

I have moved my trunk back ( all you do is unbolt it and move it to the next set of holes) Luggage rack, trunk 3rd break light, Wife's arm rest (Kuryakyn With cup holder and pouch) Rack flag for ol glory, Led tail light and turn lights, Turn visors, Trailer hitch, slip on pipes, driver back rest, Air hawk seat pad, Barron flame floor boards,Kuryakyn flame handgrips with throttle boss, 10" smoke windshield, Windshield pouch, Leather tank strap, passing lamps with visors, Head light visor, Underbody LED's, 6 Strobe lights for escort (PGR) And I put a wire from the input port to the back seat so the Wife can use her IPOD as we ride she gets to play DJ. ANd need less to say wy greatest accessory is my wife.

The only issue with moving the trunk back is coming up with some spacers for the rear holes as the rear of the trunk will now set on the trunk mount rack. What I did was to use bolts mounted upside down so they stuck thru the holes in the bottom of the trunk, and then used nuts to secure the trunk rather than running the bolts downwards. The bolts are inserted from the bottom of the rack and held by another set of nuts...

I would have to say the HID headlight and the KURY Phase 6 LED driving lights. Saved a bunch on the charging system. The extra lights I put on the back doesn't hurt anything either. 4 tail lights, 6 brake lights, and 4 turn signals. I think I will be seen, except for the IDIOTS that just don't give a damn.:rotf:

There is a rubber piece stuck to the bottom of the trunk. Peel it off and move it back to where the trunk sits on the mount.
