Red1 Posted September 20, 2012 Share #2 Posted September 20, 2012 My understanding is that since this pic went public some years back, a dirtbag has removed/stolen the front wheel of the bike.

Pegasus1300 Posted September 20, 2012 Share #4 Posted September 20, 2012 This is true but many felt that the US neutrality stance was unreasonable and joined the Canadien or French Forces.Lafayette Escadrille a French airforce Squadron made up of US fliers is only one example. motorcycle_1300 Posted September 20, 2012 Share #7 Posted September 20, 2012 Whatever the case may be trees do not lift things off the ground. if you drive a nail into a tree at 3 feet off the ground that is where nit will always be 3 feet. the tree may grow out arround the nail but it will not lift it. Gray Ghost Posted September 23, 2012 Share #18 Posted September 23, 2012 A search on google will return a lot more sites than snopes that say this isn't so. Some even have photos of a local newspaper that tells an entirely different story. A site called Discover Washington agrees with snopes. A couple of links: http://www.discoverwashingtonstate.com/the-tree-bike-fact-or-fiction/ http://www.mortythedog.com/2011/07/vashon-island-bicycle-in-tree-mystery.html Newspaper article from 1993: http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?date=19931117&slug=1732351

I always thought it was putz and came from Yiddish.... Puz is the last name of the lady who told the story of her son losing the bike. Putz is a descriptive word from Yiddish I think/\.
