I feel as I should Apologize to everyone for not checking in once in a while. You know how it is you get tided up into the daily living and forget about the help and friends that are right in front of you.. Until life reaches out and grabs you by the ...... Well in any case here is my problem... was out riding the other night with my 04 trike and as I went through the gears I though I felt the clutch slip. But when I tried to make it slip latter by accelerating in 5th gear going up a hill it felt fine. But latter I thought I felt it again.. Now my question is....am I losing my mind or is this what happens when the clutch starts to go out ? Any help is welcome Thanks Mike

Well, I thought I had spent enough money on bling for my "06" Venture. That was until I did a favor on Sunday before the game for a member from Indiana wanting me to go over and check out an 2000 milemum edition Venture near my home in Texas he is wanting to buy. I took it for a little ride and fell in luv with the Bub slip ons. Great sound and not to obnoxious. Got to get me a pair. Where is a good place to get them, and do you have to rejet?

I know there are only a few aftermarket slip on mufflers out there for the 2nd Gen Ventures. I want something that is a little louder and am considering the Bub Slip ons, but I do not care for the exhaust tips. Does anyone have any photos of aftermarket exhaust that has the slant cut tips facing upward. Anotherwords, an exhaust tip that follows the same angle as the back end of the saddle bag. Like the ones on a Royal Star Tour Deluxe. http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/products/modelimagelib/413/14/1/0/image.aspx

Mufflers, Collectors and pipes...oh my!
Guest posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My collector seems to have a leak and everytime I look into getting new mufflers I only find "slip on pipes". Forgive my ignorance...but what exactly is the "slip ons" does that mean it slips over the pipes? Can we purchase a new collector or new pipes from anywhere? That is what seems to be rusted, near the middle to the front of my bike. The back looks great. A couple of you on previous post mentionned "Marks custom exhaust crossover pipes" and the "Marks collector". Are these new? I googled and could not find. Have a web site to refer me to? Thanks for the help! -
41K, 99, Rotella T 15W/40 w/1K on it. My clutch will only slip in 3rd, at WOT, going up hill. Now I know I can prevent this by NOT going WOT in 3rd up a hill but... I swear when I first starting reading this and the other Venture board that I read something about "tightening" up the clutch plate by using the washers from sparkplugs (which ones I cannot remember) behind the bolts. This prevented the unwarranted slipped. Unwarranted because the friction plates still had plenty of material but due to design it would slip or something to that affect. Does this sound familiar to anyone!? I like cheap fixes but will dial up Barnett's if I gotta.

I just installed the Khrome Werks slip on mufflers on my '05 Venture and am quite happy with the sound. The only thing that concerns me is that when shifting into second or third gear on acceleration there is a "pop" if the revs are taken up a bit too high. Will this cause any problems? If so, what can I do about it?

Besides the modified Road King mufflers, what is a good slip on for the RSV. I think I have it narrowed down between Samson Slash cuts or Baron exhaust. One style of the Baron exhaust... looking at the back of the bike you would see two pipes under each saddle bag. As with anything they are a little pricey, especially when you add the exhaust tips. If anyone uses these or is familiar with them, let me know. Thanks

Wish I had done it a long time ago. Ten bucks for a pack of springs from bike bandit. I got a new gasket too, the old one was very hard. The lever doesn't seem stiffer than the old one, but I couldn't get the clutch to slip. Used to slip above 1/2 throttle and 4000rpms. Now I may have to learn how to ride the bike all over again. Swap out only took 30 minutes. I left the bike on the side stand and didn't even lose any oil.

Anybody else have the occational 3rd. to 4th. gear miss? It dosen't happen very often. It dosen't slip out of 4th. but rather it just seems to go somewhere in between. I'm just curious if it's my own fault or if it's something mechanical in the tranny I should look into. I plan on taking care of the second gear issue this winter before it becomes a problem and wondered if I should keep an eye out for anything else. This bike is an 84 w/35000 on it. 4000 I put on this spring already. Man I love this bike. When does the second gear usually start to slip out anyway? Thanks in advance for all yur info. Bill
