Let me start with a disclaimer: If you own a BMW I mean you no disrespect. This is a rant from my own personal experience. That being said, I was driving my truck across town and made a right turn when a BMW scoot came shooting up on my tail. Even though the road was only one lane in my direction, the rider still though it a good idea to pass me on the right and cut me off nearly clipping the front bumper of my pickup. This got me thinking. Why do most of the BMW riders that I come in contact with seem to be real jerks? I have only know one who was not and he rides with the same group as me. I can honestly say that I could count on one finger the number of times that an on-coming BMW scoot has given me the old rider courtesy wave. Four times this year, have been cut off by a BMW scoot while I was on my RSV. Last year, my friend and I took a trip to Lake Tahoe on our bikes. While there, we stopped at a Denny's with an extremely busy parking lot. We parked our scoots in the dead space next to the building to not take up parking for cages. Across the aisle there were six BMW scoots each one taking up a whole parking space. Even when a lot is not crowded, I still share spaces with other scoots. Am I all alone here or is this going on all over, and if it is, is there any way to get throught to these guys? I respect anyone on two wheels (even a moped) and I thought we were all part of a brotherhood no matter what we rode. I have even ridden with Hells Angels and they have admired my bike and were really great guys. I am not trying to bash BMW guys, I just want to know what the deal is.

Due to my 86VR letting some rust into carbs & having a tech reline tank, redo carbs/diaphragms, tuneup, new brakes, tires, etc., etc., my Nav said she didn't trust scoot. After some rides, she became comfortable again. Then, a throttle cable broke 55 miles from home, quick fix, but she lost faith. Now I have chromed-out scoot with nothing to be fixed but, now that it should be a worry free ride, it has to go. Now it's in the VR Classifieds for $4400. [$100 less than I have into it]. She insists a newer scoot is a better scoot, despite the huge expenses & new parts I put into this bike. Even if I get a 5 yr old scoot, most of the important parts will be 5 years older than what I have now, not to mention the numerous upgrades I'll never see again. Especially, the $2500. I spent on parts/techs, this year, doing the work to be certain it would be perfect. Anyway, I went & did it. Then it goes to Ebay until sold. It'll sell, but then I have to get a __?________ with all the problems that come with it....& start fixing everything....LIKE I JUST DID. It'll cost me many needless dollars, but Mama 'must' be kept happy. There's nothing left to fix on my scoot to make it any better, so this makes NO SENSE, to me, anyway. I hope whoever gets it keeps in touch, with a tab of near zero maintenance for years to come. Then I can say "Told you so."

I POSTED EARLIER ABOUT MY 86 VR RUNNING ON 3 CYLS AFTER TOWED TO SHOP WITH A BROKEN THROTTLE CABLE. CABLE FIXED, BUT THEN, SHOP SAID SCOOT ON 3 CYLS. [iT WAS RUNNING PERFECT WHEN CABLE BROKE. SCOOT LOST LF CYL WHILE IN SHOP] I PICKED IT UP, RODE IT MYSELF [to see for myself...60 miles] TO MY REGULAR SHOP & IT WAS DEFINATELY ON 3 CYLS. IT TOOK 'EM A WEEK TO GET TO IT, BUT THE TECHS SAY IT RUNS PERFECT & ON ALL 4 CYLS ??????????????????? THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO IT, EXCEPT TEST 4 GOOD CYLINDERS. THEY TESTED E/THING POSSIBLE, BUT ALL CHECKS OUT FINE. My thought is intermittent electrical problem, but if that's the case, I can't ride it anywhere with any peace of mind PLUS NO WAY TO TRACK DOWN PROBLEM. Any ideas that don't require dynamite?

Up here winter is approaching quickly , I put away my scoot yesterday Its amazing how quickly the Kms pile up. I purchased my new scoot 1988 Honda Super Magna in the middle of July and put on 8386 kms on it and the furthest distance I travelled was Lowell to Manitoulin Island Its a far cry from when I had my Venture when I averaged 40,000 km a season... Ohhh !! How I miss Touring among The Venturerider members

This is a day that will go down in the anals of VenureRider history. As you folks may know, ythere was a breakfast Meet and Eat held in St. Paul, MN this morning. And......... (drum roll please)................... Black owl was the only one that showed up on a scoot. Of course I looked like a drowned rat when I got there. Got about 10 miles down the road from the house when the sky's opened up...........

Well till the wife can handle longer MC trips ,we will have to trailer a bit so I am building a trailer rack for the BEERCART. I have her worked up to 3-4 rides now , but going to Vogal is a bit longer on her , so we will trailer to Sleeperhawk's and Mechanic's house and ride scoot from there on . Now my MC/Ult. trailer is not large enough for both scoot and the BEERCART . So I'm in the process of building a rack to set the BC (BC = BEERCART) onto . Here are some photos of what I have accomplished so far . I still have to finish cleaning it up , finish the loading ramps , place a boat bow roller , hand crank wrinch , some minor bracing and paint . Should take a couple of more afternoons . The scoot will ride directly behind the BC . I had it on the trailer last night for adjustments and have 3-4 inches of clearence between it and the BC . By the way , if was just myself the scoot would not be trailers . I'm only doing this for the love of my wife ! But there will be no cage at Vogal . Gene

I have found that living on some achers has caused need for a light trailor, but I also thought of the scoot - "what if." What size trailor do I need, if I have need to trailor my scoot, yet not too big so I can comfortably use it for my yard equipement?

Again, a new riding season and I am faced with indecision on what type of communication device to use between me and my wife's scoot. I have the VR with a good Cb, but I don't know what to do with Ladyriders scoot. J&M has a new handlebar mount Cb, but is costly when you have to get the headset and mounting with it. Nady, I have heard a lot of con with it and am leary. What I need is a bike to bike radio that will hook up to her Ipod and play sterio to her headset. If I go FRS, I will have to get two. Maybe the price for FRS vs Cb equals in the end? :confused07: Does anybody have any experience with any of these add-ons and can give me a testimonial?

If there was no coolant in the scoot?
