  1. you think i'm going to put a dirty old brick in my wing. with my luck i would get hauled in for carrying a concealed weapon. :rotf:
  2. i think everyone has made a good point. when the bashing gets beyond the joking point feelings are damaged, and tempers flare. the harley thing will go on forever as will the 1rst, 2nd gen thing. most of the time it is meant in a fun sort of way. but sooner or later someone say's the wrong thing and tempers flare. i'm guilty as charged. we have some top of the line moderators. i have met almost all of them personally and they do an excellent job. even goose. if he was'nt so damn tall i'd whip his butt. love ya goose. and then there is eck, one of my very favorite people. then theres black owl black owl, and squidely both great guys that i respect to the utmost. don did well picking all of them. just thought i would start this thread to ease some of the tension. hope it works. the good news is gas was $1.589 today at quik trip. now that made my day. that should kick the economy in the butt. thanks all for putting up with my rant. bill
  3. i'm thankful for my great wife, the only one i ever had, my puppy, the almost perfect life i have had, for all the folks that fought so i could live in the greatest country in the world, and all the friends i have made through the years including all of you. never a cloudy day at my house theres always a ray of sun here. bill
  4. i'm not a moderator here but just wanted to say my piece. seems like alot of the threads on here start on a mild politcal theme, or some how turn into one. now we all know everyone has their own opinion and no one is going to give an inch. it is impossible to have a politcal discussion with out it going to the dogs, and eventully getting deleted with some hard feelings left along the way. this group is to good to fall apart over politics. there are people on here i don't agree with but i still respect their opinion and i hope they respect mine. what i'm trying to say is why don't we keep our political opinions on the economy, unions, and politics to ourself and get back to motorcycles, and other clean, neat topics. i have jumped on some people that i don't agree with out of temper and i am sorry i did cuz it really bothers me. we are all friends on here, and i sure would like it to stay that way, there was one really bad post and i don't really remember who it was but he had his opinion and it got deleted. still he is one of us and thats what it's all about. if i am out of line here to bad, but i do hope everyone agrees. snarley bill
  5. i had an 1100 suzuki along time ago and rode to work all winter long. the first time i encountered black ice , i was on i-70 and hit the mo. river bridge about 70 mile per hour. the bike was floating all over the bridge. i thought it was just the wind, cuz the bridge is always windy. by the time i figured it out i was across the bridge. i found out the gyroscopic effect of the wheels keeps you up right. this is true. if i would have been doing 30 i probably would have lost it. another time the bridge was so slick i had to hang on to the guard rail and idle across in low gear. finally figured out that if i had frost on the top of my fence rail, there would be black ice on the bridge.
  6. darn michael, sure hate to see you trying to get rid of your bike again. that is an awful cheap price. anyone looking for one won't find a better looking bike and a better bargain than that. i know for a fact that this is one of the most well maintained ventures around. michael wore me out watching him polish it at my eureka springs meet. hope your aren't going to give up biking and this site. tell terri i said hi. your good buddy bill
  7. i retired in 1994. made it 8 years and went back to work for a good friend to help him out, as a machinist. best job i ever had and i actually look forward to going to work every night. mind is getting a little slower, as is getting started every night. so i may be looking to retire again or name my own hours in the near future. had my own business, and the book keeping was horrendous. the government keeps you on your toes with red tape. i figure an ebay business would be the cats meow. if they would have had internet sales when i was young and cockey i would probably be ultra rich now. i have had quite a few inventions over the years but used alot of them for myself instead of following them through. my shop has more than payed for itself, and it really bothers me to see it just sitting there idle. bill
  8. hey bummer, i'm with you buddy but i think we got a loser here. we are flat out numbered. no one cares about me. most folks want me to lose my retirement that i worked 30 years for, the worst part is i probably will. but i will never tell anyone and i will weather the storm on my own like i have all my life.i will give anyone anything i got if they need it, but i will never let anyone know when i am having hard times, and i sure won't ask anyone on here for help. just the way i was brought up. bill
  9. see i'm snowed under already. going to take my afternoon nap now, thats when i do my best engineereing. seriously, i have come up with some great inovations on the couch. got to sleep on these ideas. lol
  10. well i got a bug in the butt today and was cleaning my shop up and got to thinking. i really miss building stuff and metal fabricating. got the machinery and tools to do most anything mechanical just sitting idle. so i thought why not start manufacturing motorcycle related tools and accessories on a small scale. all i would have to do is up grade my milling machine to cnc., and i could kick butt and work at home. going to sort this out in my mind. my first product will be an affordable top of the line wheel balancer. i have connections with alot master machinists and work for very good friend who has a multi million dollar shop, so the sky's the limit on what i can get done. my wife says i'm to old to start a business, but it may be worth a try. bill ps. any one in the market for a top of the line wheel balancer.
  11. i've been kicking the pet rock idea around. mine will be better than the original. they will be house broke. bet some one would go for it.:rotf:
  12. probably not premeditated murder but, involuntary manslaughter. he'll probably get alot of years with possibility of parole. don't think he will walk the streets for a long time. just another piece of crap we have to support.
  13. watch it this could get political. it's that time of the day.
  14. hey henry if the bike will crank and start ,it's gonna get warmed up. hope to see you at my meet and eat in may. bill
  15. i just got back from my coffee run. i whimped out and took the lowly truck.
  16. well it's 22 here now and i'm getting ready to hit the road soon for my saturday morning coffee run. think i'm going to take the truck. the radio is a little clearer, and the coffee stays warm longer. i could change my mind though. could accidently fall onto the bike when i get in the garage. been known to happen. lol
  17. now they told you up front and honest what you are getting. SOMETHING.
  18. allan, where the heck you been? we ain't forgot about you. just figured you would make it back when you got ready. i'm going to hold you to being here next may. were tired of going on rides and not getting lost. :rotf:. fill us all in on whats been going on. everyones been worried about you. your good buddy bill.
  19. just got home 17 degrees, gerber jacket worked great had to turn it down was getting a little warm both ways. big problem was ice forming on the inside of my face shield. could'nt see real good on the highway.had to ride awhile with it open. i will quit riding when we start having black ice. impossible to hold one up on ice. tried that on a frozen lake one time. my wife says i'm nuts. what else is new.
  20. will do as soon as i get all the info together.
  21. getting ready to leave for work, 32 degrees out there .weather man says feels like 20. low when i come home is supposed to be 17 and windy. i will let you all know how well my gerbings electric jacket works. so far it has been toasty warm in the 32 degree weather.
  22. check out the 2009 international rally in harrison, ar., at the hub, under rides and rallies, aug. 3rd thru 6th, 2009. it's going to be a big one. bill:2133:
  23. kind of want to get an idea how many people as of now are planning to attend my 2009 st. charles, mo.. rally may 7th ,8th, and 9th, 2009. this was formerly a one day meet and eat. this year may be my last one, so i decided to make it a regular rally, since the last three were such a success. i am going to try to get a page together and will have the motels, and events listed, in the next couple of weeks. got really neat plans for this year. hope i get a good turn out like we have had in the past. it will be a meet to remember. guess i'm just going to have to face the fact i ain't a kid anymore and slow down a little. hope to see you all there. snarley bill :clap2:
  24. i hope i'm wrong too, but so far ive been right on the last ten years. it's no different then someone trying to run their life and raise a family when there in debt up to their ears. sooner or later you run out of options. the russians ran out of options , and the american people have much more to lose than the russian people did. they had no worries. they just drank more vodka. don't know about other areas but around here the sports bars are packed everynight of the week and on the weekends they are over packed. i figure the younger generation is trying to drink there problems away. there is a big church up the road from me, and when i was coming home from the eureka springs meet and rode by it. there was a family on the parking lot with all their furniture set up like a living room and bed room and they and the kids were living on the parking lot. i went up the next morning to see if i could do something. cuz heavy rain was in the forcast. the minister must have moved them inside. this was a sad thing to see, alot of people won't accept this until it's to late and hits close to home. i am against the bailouts, i am in pretty good shape financially, but i have a little compassion for my fellow man. sure it's there fault and they made mistakes but thats not any reason to throw them to the wolves. i was a uaw worker for thirty years. thank god for that. i worked hard and earned my money and benefits. i don't figure i'm better than anyone. get the crooks and standby the people that work hard for what they have rich or poor. thats just the way i am. bill
  25. never said he was wrong following the girls. just said if he would have used better judgement, he would still be with us. the guy is a murderer anyway you look at it.
