  4. well, what a crowd showed up for the meet last night. we met at the crackerbarrel at 7pm and took a short ride to my house, for coffee and cake. alot of old freinds are here, and met a bunch of new members. all in all, as usual, a great bunch of people. as tired as i was, i had a ball. wrongway and lowell came yesterday afternoon and we sat on the patio and drank a few beers and did some reminising, when i should have been catching up on some sleep. well i'm ready to hit it again for the big ride today. we meet again at 8am. got to go clean the bike up a little before i leave. kbran had a spill in some gravel on the trip here and hurt his ankle. he stayed in the room last night with an ice pack on it, i hope he is okay. i will check on him this morning. bill ps. i heard a little bit of gossip last night. wrongway just may have lived up to his name again and missed my street with the group he was leading. i saw them go by, don't want to make any false accusations. i will get to the bottom of it today. :rotf::rotfl:
  5. sounds good. see you somewhere saturday. bill
  6. gary, nothing i know of around the arch, but i think there is a camp grounds in st. charles city. not to far from us. it is close to the river. the arch is kind of far away and not the best area to be in. we have a walmart super center about 3 miles from my house, it is brand new. i think you can park there. bill
  7. can't wait to see them. tell them to eat dinner thursday night. we are just meeting at cracker barrel to come to my house for desert. they can hook up with roadkill at red roof inn and he will show them where the crackerbarrel is. that goes for anyone else that is staying at redroof inn. bill

  9. cindy, can't promise any times. i have several back up plans. it all depends on the weather. we may switch days on the friday and saturday ride depending on the radar. the best bet would be to come to my house. there will be people here if you get here before we do. bill

  16. looks like the weather out look for the meet is looking good, one thing nice about these meets is, i sure get alot of work done around here that i put off. full schedule today. put new plates on all the scoots, clean them up, mow the grass, 2 yards of bark mulch to shovel out of the driveway, and a whole list of honey do's. thats all after my breakfast ride around 5:30 am. think i got all the bases covered now. all we need is a bunch of great people. going to be a real blast. see you all next week. bill
  17. i will part the waters for you.
  18. do not worry about rain i have an alternate back up plan. the meet is 9 days off. the weather man can't hit the weather right 2 days ahead much less a week. we got the food and drink and a great back up plan just in case. think positive. bill :clap2:
  19. no way you can go wrong. you just hit on the best site on the net with a close knit commeraderie. even if you don'r get a venture your one of the group. welcome aboard. bill
  20. for all the folks coming in on thursday, may 7th, we will be meeting at the cracker barrel at 7pm and go from there to my house for coffee and coffee cake. about 4 miles away. then on friday and saturday morning the 8th and ninth, we will meet at crackerbarrel at 8 am for breakfast. see you all there. bill ps. my home phone is 636-928-3656 if you need last minute info.
  21. well here comes my 2 cents. i had a roadstar warrior and rode a road star at star days. no comparison with a venture when it comes to comfort and luxury. the seats i will agree on. it's all in the butt of the beholder. of all the 70 something bikes i have ever owned, the only factory seats that i found to be comfortable is my v-star 1300 and my 08 wing. all the rest sucked. that is according to feed back from my butt. everyone's butt is different. as far as the rpm goes, get used to it. the engine is designed to run at that rpm and i can almost garrantee the venture will go twice as many miles in it's life span as the aircooled, long stroke, v-twin in the roadstar. the two bikes aren't even in the same league. they are both great bikes and do what they are designed for. the roadstar is a cruiser and the venture is one of the top three touring bikes made. the more you ride it the more you will like it. of course it ain't no wing, lol. (just a joke guys). no reason to hit the rev limiter so early. get a dyna 3000 lots of power up there around 7500 rpm. every bike i have ever owned i put alot of money in to personalize it and make it fit me. thats part of what it's all about. at a little over 500 mile you haven't even been introduced to your bike. also get rid of that 150 front truck tire and go with a 130 avon. that will cure your gravel problems and help with the low speed handling. just my opinion and a few suggestions. give it a chance. sounds like the first ride you were supposed to enjoy, turned out to be a hate this bike from the git go ride. it's a great bike with the normal flaws of all bikes made. they just can't make one to fit everyone from the factory. it's up to you to make it your ride. bill
  22. this was supposed to be a new post. must have screwed up somewhere. well
  23. got to take the 14 for the state inspection in the morning. was thinking about selling it. my brother-in-law said i was to old for it. i sat on it, and stood back and looked at it. darn it is black and beautiful. think it has a home for another year. what a machine. wife says get rid of it. i said i don't think so. good thing i wear the pants around here. :cool10:
  24. next door neighbor got one of those things. i'll probably be over there stealing tomatoes.
  25. i planted my tomatoes today so that means summer is here. it's going to be 82 here tomorrow. ran the attic fan to cool the house down around midnight. since i have been riding all winter, riding is'nt that exciting but it sure is nice not having to wear all them clothes. going to get the zx-14 out tomorrow for a shake down run. haven't ridden it since last summer but have had it in my shop all winter and started it regularly. got to get the state inspection on it monday . putting new tires on my wing this week, and getting the wheels chromed or powder coated. probably go with the powder coating. got new avons on the v-star, so it looks like i'm good to go for another season. you all be careful out there. the same crazies are out there on the road + a bunch of new ones. bill
