  1. That's a bit off. You sure you are not compressing the small spring in the needle? Very easy to do.
  2. No, your correct. Even I have a small dent there from someone adding a bag.
  3. Indian head shelack, I never would have thought of that one. Easier to apply too. Thanks.
  4. Ya, I didn't say the amount leaking. It's prob a few drops every mile. Haven't noticed it in consumtion yet as I haven't put that many miles on it yet. It's location is a pain as you have to pull the clutch cylinder out, which is tight itself. I think I'll JB Weld it as I don't want to have to get back in there. I've pulled the secondary side cover about 4-5 times just trying to find it. Gone through the rest of the bike and she's running pretty good now. Looking forward to next riding season for some longer trips. Thanks for the replies.
  5. I found the oil leak on my Venture. It's on the engine case split line in a hard to access area next to the clutch pin and seal. Had to remove the clutch actuator cyl to see it. Seeing the amount of gunk build up in that area, I think it's been leaking for years. There is a ¼" landing there. (shadow area) I'm thinking I might clean it up real good and just fill it in with JB Weld. Otherwise it looks like an engine pull and case split! Any other idea's?
  6. It's actually underneath the rubber (1½x1½) cover on clutch bleeder valve. That's were the clutch actuator is and neutral switch I think. Have to pull the side cover to get at them again. I just didn't see in manual that there is a gasket for clutch actuator. Never been in there before. I was just curious if anyone has before. These darn bikes are so reliable I don't expect a lot of people have!
  7. You know I figured that was the case but I forgot about it and rode it twice now without them. Got lucky I guess!
  8. I put on a new gasket when I replaced the shifter seal. It looked fine. It's in that general area though. Gonna have to pull it again to see I think. My next guess is the clutch actuator.

    Awesome bike

I hit the limiter a lot on my Sabre, kinda surprised it's so low (6500) but if I'm not hitting it, I'm not trying hard enough!
  10. Ya, that's not it either.

    Awesome bike

Question, these bikes do have a rev limiter don't they? I'm surprised I haven't hit it yet if it does. What is the red line anyway?
  12. Ya , I'll get it eventually. It will just keep getting dirty if I don't fix it.
  13. I can barely see up there myself, but I'll try.
  14. Serviced that. It's fine.
  15. Just got the bike back on the road after going through it after purchasing. It has 55K and wasn't taken care of like I would have. Just replaced seals, cleaned, greased-up what I could and cleaned the carbs and synched and all I can say is, WOW. What a great bike. Lov'n the V4. Moving it around it's like pushing a train, but get it on the road and!!!!!!!!!
  16. I don't even have the fins on. The leak is under the engine, left rear area. It had been leaking for a long time. Just bought it and it had a lot of gunk buildup underneath, right around the shift shaft seal. Thats not it though (replaced) as I just got it back on the road (went though the carbs and she's purring like an angry kitten!) and still a small leak.
  17. Well my leak was not the shift shaft seal as I still have it, noticed the clutch cylinder is above it and the netural switch. Anyone ever have a leak on the clutch actuator? My manual doesn't list a seal there. It is motor oil and not hyd fluid. Guess I'll be tearing it back apart!
  18. Going through my carbs and was wondering jet sizes. I thought mine were stock. Slows were all #15 but mains were: LF-122.5, LR-122.5, RF-120, RR-117.5. Is this a stock arrangement? OK, did more digging, they're stock. Pilot screws were between 1½ to 2¼. location ?. Do you need to put the covers back on screws? Carbs were filthy on outside (little on inside as someone had put air filters in wrong) I'm guessing all these years with eng case vent line dumping oily laced air in the air filter case. Has anyone dumped the eng case vent to atmosphere like the other vent lines? I've seen it done on other bikes. Why is the sky blue. I'll stop there!
  19. It all makes a little more sense that the RSV has carb heaters after hearing this!
  20. White/gray smoke is oil, excessive fuel would be black, am I wrong?
  21. Thanks guys, I'll be mounting mine there shortly. Stock one stopped working anyway! I like the side routing idea.
  22. Just wondering if anyone has had problems mounting these air horns so close to the exhaust....long term? It is much larger than a stock one.
  23. Anyone have and old RSV stock windshield they want to get rid of. I will pay for shipping of course. Can have scratches but no cracks above the mounting area please. Thanks
  24. Well if anyone else has this problem, this is what I ended up doing. After talking to my good friend from THE SABRE GROUP, he suggested one way was to take a sharpened screwdriver (3/32 wide) and drive it down the side of seal a few places to loosen the band and it just pryed out easily. I made a special tool from wood to install it in square around the shift rod. Worked great.
  25. Not much help here on this one I see. Guessing it's not a common problem. The more I think about it, just pulling the left middle gear cover, it would be a pain getting the seal out. I'm thinking pulling the right cover also would allow you to get it out much easier but much more work?
