  1. But it gives you a chance to inspect all your plastic for damage during the R & R!!
  2. I know this sounds a little crazy but have you confused the pilot screws with the drain screws? I guess the question is "where is it vomiting gas"? any pics?
  3. Lots of things to check: Age of tires, change out hydraulic fluid in both brake reservoirs and the clutch reservoir, check brake pads, tire air pressure (38 front/42-44 rear) Great items to have: JIS screwdriver set, motorcycle lift (harbor freight), Carbon One adapter (member here makes an adapter to installs on the underside of the bike and allows it to be lifted evenly, without damage to the items under the bike)

  6. You might consider changing the washers on the needles. I did it on my '86 and helped with the mileage. I may have been done already but easy to do. dave
  7. Murray- Yellowstone is a great Natl Park. From the rally, I think the best way into the park would be to go East on I-90 and take US89 into the north entrance of the park. This will put you in Mammoth Hot Springs (great place for lunch and ice cream). From Mammoth you can work you way down the west side of the park. Lots of fields for wildlife to show up. Further down the west side is Old Faithful and the Lodge. You definitely want to see the geyser and if you can, the lodge is fun to stay in. There are many places to stay in the park from camping to hotels. Next would be to go to the south end and up the east side, along Yellowstone Lake. The road to the East entrance has some good views but I would go up and out the NE entrance. That will take you through the Lamar Valley (usually a large herd of Buffalo here), through Cooke City and across Beartooth Pass (Hwy 212) to Red Lodge, MT
  8. A couple of things on my list to see in Colorado: Million Dollar Highway Royal Gorge Independence Pass Also. On the way there or back.....hit the Black Hills!!
  9. Good deal! Worth checking the manufacture date before mounting them.
  10. Jack- I need to pick up wheel chocks for a new trailer. What is the make and where did you buy yours? Dave
  11. Another movie to wait on (forever and ever) is JOY. Lot's of big names......that's about it.
  12. When I've trailered my '86, I put straps on each fork - just above the fork brace. This secures the front end without worrying about the straps coming lose because of the compressing on the forks and won't spread the forks because of the brace. These straps are anchored forward of the bike and keep it upright in the wheel chock and from moving backwards. I then attach two additional straps to the passenger hand holds as added support and to keep the back end from moving side to side. I anchor these back of the bike to reduce forward motion. If the trailer is open....a strap around the false tank cover and the side panels will help not to lose them (or you can remove them and put them in your vehicle. Good luck! Dave
  13. Great memories Jack!! Thanks for sharing the pics. We hope to ride with you and others again in the future.
  14. Go to the Control Panel, System, Device Manager. Find the Keyboard and check for an Updated Driver, then restart. If that fails: Go back to the Device Manager and delete the Keyboard, then restart. The computer should find the "new" keyboard and install the driver.
  15. I went with the E3's on the '99 and they've been wonderful. Still running the stock size on the front so, I'm no help there.
  16. Extra work, but reverse the speedo casing so that if it comes undone again, you don't lose the cable.
  17. I had a full set of ME880's on my '86 when the rear tire threw some chunks. The dealer replaced the rear with a Michelin Commander (my choice). The ME880 on the front and the Michelin on the rear ran great. Many, including myself, have had issues with the ME880's on the rear but I don't remember hearing about any front tire problems. Dave
  18. Don't know it by the numbers but, yes, sync 1&2, then 3&4, last 1/2 to 3/4.
  19. When you connect the negative lead (and the positive lead is already attached), you are completing the circuit and any device that uses power without the ignition switch on (radio, clock etc) will start to draw power and can cause a minor spark to jump once the lead is close enough to complete the connection. Should be nothing to be concerned about unless your battery is draining out.
  20. The question is how is the radio getting power? Did you install a noise filter?
  21. Alan and Annie got an early start this morning for their trip back to OZ. With limited time, Jan and I, decided to take a quick ride into Salt Lake to a favorite spot called Grove's Market. While in the middle of town, this throw back shop is a mom and pop grocery store that sells more in the deluxe sandwiches they make than anything else. When they take their summer vacation, the store is closed for that week or so. Round trip was only about 15 miles but special. We talked about Don (Gunboat) that we had the priviledge to getting to know briefly in May of 2013. We met up with him in Cortez Colorado to pick up a trailer for the Aussies. What a great, easy going gentleman. We shared stories over dinner and then the next morning he came over to the hotel to make sure everything was just right with the trailer and how it hooked up to our bike. Thanks Don for our short but special opportunity!!
  22. So Jack.....is 7 of 9 back on the road? Curious minds want to know.
  23. Sounds like the power to the CB that allows it to maintain settings when the ignition is off. Channel 9 use to be the "emergency" channel and the CB will default to it. I would check the fuses, and wiring to the unit. There are two fuse boxes, one above the battery and the other is tucked in front of the battery on the right the side.
  24. Gunny Let me know if I can help. I live just west of you in Taylorsville. I have carb sync tools etc. Dave
