Wife wiggled at the wrong moment- word to the wise
saddlebum replied to VentureFar's topic in Watering Hole
I always straddle and support the bike with kick stand up when ever a passenger gets off or on. Reason being that depending on the bike, it is possible that with the kick stand down as the suspension squats from the additional weight the kick stand can force the bike to over balance in the opposite direction. -
Had a similar issue with a friends 84. pulled the supply line of the carb that was acting up, plugged it and drove on three cylinders. BTW being a 1st gen there was more than enough power to run on the three cyl.

That one makes the most sense since he already has the .........anchor for it :rotfl:

Do not really know what mine gets but I when travelling with a small group, I average $1.00 to $1.10 more at every fill stop than they do. Plugs come out looking very clean despite having almost 30,000 KM on them. Exhaust pipe does indicate a rich mixture since the edges of the pipe are somewhat sooty. However the darn thing runs like a dream. It starts at the touch of a button, runs as smooth as a baby's butt, both at Idle or full throttle and goes like a bat outa H***. Even lifts the front wheel a bit when driving hard (and foolish) when I shift into second gear. It will even pull away from a stand still in third gear (Don't ask). For all those reasons I don't want to mess with it.

Waterproofing is always a good idea. Make sure you use the right stuff for the material. For synthetics use a silicone based product. For nonsynthethics such as canvas or Egyptian cotton use a paraffin based product. I usually buy it large containers and apply by brush or garden sprayer.

OK lets put it this way 1st is it a single peak roof 2nd does the ridge run parallel to the the door (door being on the slope side of the roof) or does the ridge run 90 degrees to the wall were the door is (door being on gable end of the roof. 3rd are the rafters made up trusses or stick framed rafters. If the door is on the gable end and the rafters are actually made up trusses then no major additional framing other than to frame in the door would be required. If the door is on the gable end and the the rafters are actual stick framed rafters then you should double up the collar ties/ceiling joist place one on each side of the raters and add jack studs one from the peak of the ridge down to the collar tie / joist. then add one jack stud from rafter down to collar tie at least every 24" from the center out towards the wall. Then frame in your door. If the door opening is on the slope side of the roof then put in a header the full length of the door. It should be at least 3-2X8 or 2-2x10 laminated together. (check your local building code for beam span sizes in your area. these tend to differ from area to area based on local roof snow load criteria).

Yes anything that will fit a gold wing will fit our bikes. I have a set of J&M's on two helmets and a cheaper IMC motorcom on my flip front helmet. The IMC cost half as much as the J&M's and work every bit as good.

Hi Heather, I am Sorry to hear about Your Fathers passing. I am sure he left behind 100 lifetimes of good memory's, and for that reason he will never be truly gone. I lost my father a few years ago and yet every time I do something that we used to do together I can feel his presence right there beside me and it gives me a certain comfort. So remember He is never that far away.

You had to go say it . Didn't you now I won't be able to sleep cause I will be craving them all night.

In Ontario the Highway traffic act states that the handle bars must not exceed 15" above the highest point of the seat when compressed by the riders weight.

What did I do?
saddlebum replied to HStocker's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
some years back I did a power shift from 1st to 2nd while racing another bike. There was a loud snap when I hit second gear. I snapped the threaded end off of the differential pinion shaft. Check the oil in your rear diff for metal as well as the engine. -
I have a friend who had a heart attack and was supposedly dead twice on the way to the hospital. I always tease him saying it was like fishing, both places threw him back because he just wasn't a keeper. I really need to get him that Tee shirt.

I do not know if it was me or not, but I was at the international and I have a set of PIAA led fog lights. They are very bright and light up the road and sides very well. However being fog lights despite being very bright 6000 kelvin, they do not blind oncoming traffic or flare back at you in fog or rain. I find they allow me to even see the road surface when an oncoming vehicle fails to dim their high beams and they only draw only 1.5 amps. They cost me $300 but when you consider they only require a 2 amp fuse (yes two amp) it sure keeps the load off of your stator. these lights also come in spot and flood light models. Here are some links. http://www.piaa.com/store/p/146-LP-530-Fog-LED-Light-Kit.aspx Fog light http://www.piaa.com/store/p/147-LP-530-Driving-LED-Light-Kit.aspx Driving light http://www.piaa.com/store/pg/19-L-E-D.aspx Info sheet http://www.piaa.com/store/p/187-LP-530-High-Intensity-LED-Driving-Light-Kit.aspx Video PS they draw so little currant I did not even bother with a relay or switch. I just ran them directly to the accessory terminal with a 2 amp fuse.

FRP Stands for fiberglass reinforced plywood. Yes it is tough some transport trailers use it for trailer walls rather than aluminum. but once moisture gets past the fiberglass the ply wood rots like any other wood product.

Any time I have to work in a damp location I use durobond 90 rathe than regular dry wall compound. It handles damp locations much better. However I suggest you apply it in several thin skim coats rather than a few heavy coats. This stuff will make you work when it comes to sanding it. You can use your dry wall knife to level it by pressing it hard and flat while drawing it over the compound when it is about half dry. this will help eliminate much sanding. Believe me you are not going to like sanding it but it is durable.

Not to come off like a sour grape here ...But Don't forget bad guys can conceal and carry as well.......and if he is faster than you are, because he already knows what he is going to do then what? But don't get me wrong I am still one for offering assistance when the occasion arises.

A couple was killed Thursday on Guelph line by the Home depot. Some witnesses who work with my daughter at the Home Depot say the rider lost control while making a left hand turn. Others say the car that killed them, ran a red light while the motorcyclist was making the left turn and the rider lost control while trying to stop once he realized the car was not going to and the couple went over the handle bars. Police are still investigating as to what actually happened. Whether the car in this case was to blame or not, Please never take for granted that just because you have the green light that you are safe. Today too many cars rush the light in order to avoid stopping or are texting while driving and not seeing the lights. Watch the cars not just the lights PLEASE!!! . http://www.thespec.com/news-story/4046313-two-dead-in-burlington-motorcycle-crash/
