  1. I was looking at the Corbin website. It looks like they don't take returns. Interesting.
  2. I Agree. Eventually you have to to a point and realize any more adjusting will not get it any closer. Otherwise you can spend all day trying to get it perfect. you have 3 variables so any change in one will change the others a little. you just have to get them close and realize that any more fiddling will just get you back where you are.
  3. I just finished synching the carbs on my '09 RSTD. It only has 400 or so miles on it. I wanted to do it to learn as well as the fact that people on the board stated that it can be off from the factory. I used the Carbtune to do it. Unfortunately I bought it from a place in California before I noticed some posts about buying it from the manufacturer to take advantage of the exchange rate. Just goes to show what a wealth of knowledge the board is and maybe post a question before making a purchase. In any case I want to thank Freebird for posting the instructions and pics on how to do this. For those that are reticent about doing something like this don't be it is so simple it is not even funny. A pox and shake of the fist to the dealers that charge $85 for this. If the Stealers were smart they would give away something like this to get you into the store to buy more farkle. Literally the hardest part of this job was getting the hose off because it was kind of stuck and it is hard to get your fingers in the small space to get a good grip. I ended up using a screwdriver blade to push the end of the hose while pulling at the same time. I think i will put a dab of boy butter (silicone grease) on the nipples to make it easier next time. The other hard part was figuring out exactly where to put the Carbtune. I have my bike in a wheel chock to keep it upright so the handle bars are straight putting near the grips made it too far away for the hoses to reach the opposite side. I happened to have the seat off so I put it in that area. I was also worried about the hoses melting if they contact the pipes but that did not seem to be an issue. Another thing about the Carbtune, at least the one I have, is that one of the rods will stick if it is not mostly vertical. That is an important check the rods will bounce when the engine is running so make sure all 4 are bouncing. I ended not taking a before shot because I am bad like that. But I did get an after. The pairs were close to each other but the sides were off a bit. Get knee pads when you do this to save your knees. The first thing I did was get my long screw driver to make sure I could reach the screws. Even though I knew where to look it was kind of hard to pick them out at first. The one that does the one side to the other was like trying to find Waldo. Anyway here is an after pic. Thanks to the guys that post info to make things like this easy to figure out. David.
  4. I work at a lab at a power plant. I deal with a lot of specialized fittings. When I get the parts I will see if I can cross reference them or find brass alternative or something. David
  5. Thanks Monty. I bought the 0-60 psi. I'll probably go ahead and get that crossover tubing eventually too. David
  6. Anybody have a link to a hand pump to do the fronts. I have a pump but it is for mountain bikes and the gauge goes to 300 psi. Difficult to use at 5 psi for the front.
  7. Those guys at Buckeye are top shelf in my opinion. Rick (?) is very knowledgeable and would be able to answer the question. They just shipped out the Flanders bar & kit for me. It is spendy, over $600.00 with the Kuryaken stuff I had him include. In my opinion the fact that he knew exactly what I needed and saved me the trouble of doing the research has value in it.
  8. Look at Eastern Beaver: they have a bunch of connectors. I bought the connectors for the tail light so I could add an LED license plate frame without cutting into the stock wires. Here is the page for what you are looking for: http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Elec__Products/Connectors/Sealed/SM-MT/sm-mt.html
  9. There is a dude on the Space Coast here in Florida that missing his right arm I think (one of them in anycase) right at the shoulder. He rides a Valkyrie of all things. Has the hand controls on one side of the handlebar. Otherwise it looks like a stock bike. He is one of the best riders I have ever seen. Can do all of the moves like in the Ride Like a Pro videos. Last time I saw him was a few years ago. Had a passenger on back of that big Valkyrie. Amazing to see how good of a rider he is.
  10. Does anyone know if this will work on an '09 Royal Star Tour Deluxe; it is part # STR-1D738-10-00. It is a Billet Single Arm Shift Lever for a Roadliner. Yamaha sells it as a chrome accessory.
  11. It's not too bad. It took longer to understand how it is held on than to actually take it off. I may have gone deeper than necessary i.e. I took out the battery box to get to the 2 screws that hold on the little plastic part on the front of the fender. Here is what I did: Took bags off took 2 screws that hold chrome piece to fender. Then ended up taking chrome trim off altogether Took off the crash bars Then took a black strut off that was behind the crash bars took off the passenger floor boards take off the thing that holds the passenger pillion 2bolts behind the driver seat plastic thing that the brake lite wire goes thru There is a strut that is attached behind the passenger floor boards when you loosen it it rotates out of the way to get the clearance to get the fender off. When I put it back together I will try to take pictures. I am not good at that but I will try. I went to http://www.easternbeaver.com and found the plug that goes to the tail light wiring harness. I took the fender off because I want to run the wires from the plate LED's to this connector rather than to the ones that are behind the license plate. My plan is to have the Back Off blink the license plate LED's and have the tail light brake shine steady.

  14. I am new to the RSTD. I picked an '09 up on June 3, 2010. So far I think it is a great bike. Today I took the rear fender off so I can run wires to a Billet Brothers LED license plate frame. My plan is to run the LED's off a Back Off unit and have the regular tail light illuminate continuously instead of blinking. Not much on mods. I bought the Flanders Handlebar and am waiting for that to get here. I also replaced the incandescent tail light with the 100 LED custom dynamics one. EMGO rear view mirrors I bought off e-bay but I think I am going to replace those with a pair of Kuryakin mirrors. Anyway here are some pics:
  15. Found this listing on ebay for a Harley Davidson holder http://ow.ly/1XQ1R http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Harley-Davidson-Touring-Saddlebag-Holder-Saddlebag-/170497035784?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27b26a4e08#ht_600wt_985
  16. Link to the thread popped up after I posted. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49343 Has anyone tried to make the stands in the post? and if so can you share some measurements? David
  17. I have a question on what to do with the saddle bags when they are off the bike. This stems from one of my bags flopping over and scratching the lid when I opened it. It slid on the cardboard I put down to prevent this very thing from happening. In any Case I think I saw a post with a PVC rack to hold the bags but I am unable to find the post. What is the consensus on what to do with the bags when you take them off the bike. I have been putting them in the living room on the carpeting but it would be nice to have some sort of rack to hold them. David
