  1. A stock Venture will lean further than most Harleys without dragging. And I think most Gold Wings. The Venture also has floor boards that flex and warn you when your lean is becoming excessive. Top heavy is irrelevant above parking lot speeds. It is not easy to lean one so far you loose wheel contact with the road. But if you do and you are pulling a trailer you are going to get a trailer push. The OP is very fortunate he avoided serious injury to him or his passenger. This is not what I call a good demonstration of riding skills. In fact taking a corner that fast with a passenger and trailer borders on reckless endangerment in my opinion. Mike
  2. +1 Mike
  3. If you are two up,pulling a trailer and leaned that far over you are going to fast. SLOW DOWN. Mike
  4. I use and like both chaps and overpants. I find the chaps help keep sun heat, bugs and road debris off my legs. They go on and off fairly easily. All in all they make for a comfortable ride. My overpants have a removable liner. So they are good for cold or warm weather. They also have armor which would be helpful in the event of a fall. Overpants are harder to get on and off. Sometimes I find the extra layer of clothing stiff and a little uncomfortable. In cold or cool weather I really like and appreciate the overpants. So I can't say one is better than the other. But I can say for sure neither is worth a darn if you are not wearing them. Mike

  8. It is good to have you back. Mike
  9. Propane supply houses usually have a selection of gas jets one of which should work. Or many auto engines use an oiler jet to lubricate the piston wrist pin. One of those could also work just fine. I have often thought of this as a cure. But with my bike still being under warranty I am in no hurry to try. I used to do something similar to Chevy timing chains. Virtually stopped chain wear.
  10. I wish I still had a good 3 or 4 gas analyzer. Not only are they good for setting the fuel mixture but they will also let you know if you have, or don't have, any other issues. Such as plugs, wires, coils, valves, timing, cams etc. Mike
  11. I always just lay my bike down when I run in for ice cream. Mike
  12. See if you have a pulse from the crank sensor. Mike

  14. You thinking about getting married? Mike
  15. That is very true. But if you are sitting still and a car behind you is doing forty or fifty miles an hour by the time you realize it isn't going to stop it is probably to late. Some time ago a friend of mine was hit. He was sitting in the right hand lane behind a car waiting on a stop light. According to witnesses. A drunk doing 60+ in a 35 zone fell asleep and switched from the left lane to the right lane at the last second. My friend never saw it coming. It was a very messy affair. Mike
  16. Bubber This mod if for slowing down the flasher after switching to LEDs. It is used instead of adding an extra load via a ballast resistor to the turn signals. You take the cover off the turn signal flasher. Locate the wire loop inside the flasher and cut it. Solder the resistor into the wire loop. This will slow the flasher without adding additional load to the turn signal circuit. The flasher on these bikes use an internal bypass circuit. Adding the resistor decreases the bypass current flow slowing the flasher. Mike
  17. It would be nice if you could always escape but unfortunately that is not always possible. So sad for all of those involved. Mike
  18. I took a dremel and removed 1/8 inch of red plastic from the kill switch. Rounded the edges with a file. No more inadvertent bumps. Mike
