  1. Nice setup Scooter Bob!! Love that you keep the Poppy on there. I bet a lot of us PERSONAL items we like to ride with that have a meaning.
  2. I prefer to keep the odometer visible on the dash and to see the time I would have to scroll through the various options. I also have a clock on my GPS.... But there's just something about an ANALOG CLOCK that makes me prefer it (maybe it's the chrome stem. LOL Wally
  3. Thanks guys...I just sent a PM.
  4. Show me your cockpit!! Actually, every rally I go to I check out the different cockpits/handlebar setups. It's amazing to me to see the innovations that people have come up with and also how they have worked around the various problems of adding items into their cockpit. Just post a simple picture of your cockpit. I labeled mine, but just a picture would be cool. Maybe this thread will show LOTS of variations that some of us can use on our bikes. Wally
  5. I will keep all the offers in mind. Freebird if you can find yours let me...but I may just do like you and leave them on... Thanks guys...just some out loud thinking. I appreciate the comments and have bookmarked this thread. Wally
  6. I guess I can give a reason...so some can make me feel better and some can make think my idea was crazy. Besides the lightbar not working right now (I will check wiring), I wanted to remove the lightbar for the 3 following reasons: 1. The lightbar is heavy and adds unwanted extra weight to the front end, especially when turning. It doesn't take that much weight to cause a significant amount of difference on the front end. 2. The lamps do pull a considerable amount of power and I have always wondered about the amount they pull and also using other accessories...maybe an issue, maybe not. 3. I rarely ever used them. What are YOUR thoughts... Wally
  7. Thanks to both of you for your help. Like most of us on here...I ask for help and then while waiting for answers I do the research on my own. The part is called a "STAY". And OEM pricing is about $91. The answer is NO, I didn't get my parts back. I will from now get ALL PARTS back regardless of how trivial or how PERMANENT a part change is...I think I have learned my lesson. So...at this point, it's kind a like an OLD EX-WIFE, it would have been cheaper to keep her.
  8. OK...I have had the passing lights for several months now and I think I want to remove them. Besides them not even working anymore (may just be a loose wire), but I think I want to remove them anyway. I let my local STEALER put them on and I am thinking there is a STRAIGHT mount they removed that the turn signals were mounted to (when stock), and then replaced with this lightbar bracket. So am I correct to think that since they didn't give my parts (the other mount bar) back, that I will have to find one before I can go back to the stock look. Here are a couple of pics...the first one shows my bike BEFORE the light bar and the second shows the light bar AFTER the passing lights were mounted. Can I just take the LIGHTS off and connect the turn signals to the PRESENT light bar? Thanks for any help. Wally
  9. Here you go.... This was what I found and ordered about 6 months ago... Love this set up...and recommend it HIGHLY!! Here is the link to my post with pictures: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showpost.php?p=433176&postcount=34 And here is the link to the entire thread: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=44746
  10. Now I'm trying to figure out what kind of bike to put them on... Anyone got any ideas?
  11. I have used up to a 16gb in mine. The ONLY negative is that the more songs you have, the longer it takes to access the library. But a 16gb will work (it also may depend on brand). I use a 16gb Transcend. Wally
  12. Too bad you're not gonna be there NEXT weekend (this weekend is "diversity weekend" if you know what I mean)...because I am having our Arkansasbiker.net party that weekend. And we have a great time...we get there on Friday afternoon and go out to eat and then back to the motel for some drinks and beer or swimming...just relaxed fun. Then on Saturday morning we'll head out for about 2 hour ride through the Eureka Springs countryside before going out for dinner again on Saturday night. Here's flyer...we'd love for you to adjust it.
  13. So if I see a Venture hauling A$$, I should know it is you. LOL Just kidding...I ain't small myself. Good luck.
  14. The radar is animated with a 3 image loop. Not the greatest, but it is the best thing out there right now. :-)
  15. Thanks Monty...that's what I needed to know. Wally
  16. Which model did you get?
  17. Stay inside...watch TV programs I normally would not watch and set the thermostat to 64 degrees. Yep...you can (literally) hang MEAT in my house.
  18. Wayne...like I was telling the other guy...they will FIX the 3.80 software and release it again (actually it will be 3.90 or 4.00), but it should be better when they release it. They just updated the zumo 665 software and it is now VERY GOOD. Thanks and glad you are enjoying it. Wally P.S. Don't forget to BACKUP your unit before you downgrade (or upgrade).
  19. Wayne...are you on software versions 3.80 or 3.50. Many are recommending that IF you are on version 3.80, they have reverted BACK to version 3.50 and many of their problems went away. Here is a link to download version 3.50. http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4467 Wally
  20. OK...that firmware (if updated recently) actually needs to be overwritten with the OLD FIRMWARE until they get some things straightened out. I know that is a pain, but they will fix it. Wally
  21. Don...have you picked up the zumo 665 yet?
  22. Which model and have you updated the firmware?
  23. And you'll have a BIG OLE smile on your face. VERY NICE unit...especially since the last firmware update.
  24. Actually, I PURPOSELY did not install the Buddy Rich cable. I do not pair my phone with the GPS. If I get a call...it waits until I can get it out of my saddlebag. I do use everything else on the GPS though...navigation, radar and music. Wally
  25. Here's the (almost) finished artwork. This guy is really good.
