  1. Done it once on the rstd. Pulled out and goosed it in a wet spot and the rear went left and my instinct was to counter steer and I didnt panic. It worked and I imagine it looked like I was hot dogn, but it scared the ba-jeebers out of me. Never want to do it again.
  2. I use a Tom Tom One model. Its made to be used in a car and not water resistant but it still works. I paid $40 for mine and use it on long trips.
  3. Welcome and congrats on the new to you Venture.
  4. No, I went to NAPA and they matched it using a camera thing. $34.00 in paint vs colorite price. Its a really close match. http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn195/xxMPWATERDAWGxx/IMG_1140.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn195/xxMPWATERDAWGxx/IMG_1141.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn195/xxMPWATERDAWGxx/IMG_1142.jpg
  5. I'll swing by the shop next monday when I'm off. I pick it up tomorrow and mount it, and then wash all the pollen off. Then watch the Hardley riders drool as that V4 scoots past em. http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn195/xxMPWATERDAWGxx/626766438_2239357668_0.jpg

  8. Thank you, wasn't sure how it would come out but I really like it now. Expecially with the memory foam in my seat and replaced the utopia foam with 3 inches of memory foam as well.
  9. Alligator wrapped bag lids to match the seats. http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn195/xxMPWATERDAWGxx/gator-1.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn195/xxMPWATERDAWGxx/gator1.jpg
  10. It lasted only 19000 miles mainly due to my heavy handedness at stop lights....black streak on the ground. To me that was excellent considering I only got 3-5k miles out of a MC tire. I run an Avon cobra on the front and I have about 12k miles in it and its still pretty meaty. As for the idiot that blew the tire, I know he wasnt hurt. I just got tired of arguing and ate the blown tire cost and the cost for him to take the rim off and put back on. It was the las time I will ever set foot in that shop.
  11. Avon Cobra on the front, Nexen on the rear
  12. Well, my first DS tire finally wore down and I'm continuing to ride the DarkSide. 19000 miles. Friday when I took my tire to get mounted the guy at the shop told me it was illegal to mount CTs on motorcycles. I asked to see the law. He shut up. First they took the old tire off, got the new one on the rim. He didnt clean the gunk off and used hardly any lube. I specifically told him do NOT go about 80psi and to inflate slowly. He proceeded to tell me he was the mechanic. Well he inflated it to 60 and let the air out, then staddled the tire bouncing it as another mechanic inflated it to somewhere between 80-100 psi and BOOM, the tire blew. We were all in the shop and I checked to make sure they were ok. Fortunately they were. The guy started cussing at me like I made it blow. I took my rim and went out bought another DS tire and took it to another shop. He cleaned the rim, lubed it up real good and inflated to 60psi 3 times and then to 65psi and set it in front of a heater and it seated with no problem. So after all said and done my 2nd DS tire ended up costing just as much as a MC tire. Tire #1 $62.00 Tire #2 $83.00 Shop#1 $50.00 (Didn't feel like arguing considering my bike was on the rack) Shop#2 $25.00 (mounting the tire on the rim) Total $220.00
  13. I'm still riding, as long as there isnt ice or snow. Making a 550 mile trip to Tifton, GA for a funeral tomorrow morning then back on Sunday. Not the preferred reason to make a road trip but I know he'd do the same for me.
  14. Thank you for all the well wishes.... I'll be riding down to Tifton, GA tomorrow morning to attend the services on Sat. So it ya pass an RSTD with a primered fairing just honk and flash your lights.
  15. I didnt install a Hoppe of Premeux, but I did put an HD fairing on. I took some modification, but the fairing, stereo, paint, windshield and brackets all together has yet to break $400.00. My hands are loving me this winter. I still have the cut outs to make the brackets if anyone is interested. I dont notice any difference unless I go over 100mph which is very rare because cruise wont work past 85.
  16. Well it looks like I'm ridng down to Moultrie, Ga on Friday to the funeral of SFC DonDeagio Bennett (retired) who was my platoon sgt for nearly 2 years and severed in Iraq with in 03'. If anyone is in the area get my number from my profile. I'll be staying at a hotel in Trifton. http://www.wrdw.com/crimeteam12/headlines/Family_speaks_after_Army_vet_hit_and_killed_by_alleged_drunk_driver_113966429.html?storySection=photo
  17. I do love the "DarkSide"... I didn't care if they got it clean or not....
  18. Nah, I had to wash it when they got done anyway. It was more fun watching them rub each other down with the sponges.
