  1. Just tell them it's the "turbo waste gate" that causes the whine. I have tried several different oils with Motor Kote the best so far has been the Yamalube® 15W-50 Full Synthetic, the worst was the most expensive. Mobile 1 for V-twins, the whine is there at every rpm even with motor kote.
  2. What part of Washington did you visit?
  3. As a stage 3 colon cancer survivor, going on 20 years cancer free, I can really appreciate what he is doing to spread the word about not giving up hope. I have followed him since day 1 and have purchased 2 of his coins and donated $300.00 to keep him going. When I visit my brother in Ft. Worth TX, I know I'll see him again. Besides I found out that my 05 RSTD with Khrome Werks pipes sound way better than the stock pipes on his Harley.
  4. Very disappointed in the level of activity among the Washington state members of Venture Rider, but I guess I should have figured it out last year when I sponsored a Meet-n-eat and only 3 people showed up even when I posted that I would foot the bill. Oh well...Life and motorcycling go on regardless.
  5. If there are any Washington riders who would like to meet Terry. 4 July 2010 at Denny's exit 208 around 12:30 to 1pm for lunch and then an escort north bound on I-5. Terry will be headed out on Highway 20 and making his way to Idaho.
  6. Bump. Hey Washington riders, check Terry's web site. We are planning a meeting in Leavenworth for the upcoming week. Hope to see some of you there.
  7. Just an update: Terry will be in Oregon City Oregon at the "Relay for Life" event. Should make it into Washington state by early next week. Still looking for riders who would like to meet up and ride a few miles with him.
  8. Just posting a link for an individual who is on a wonderful mission, raising awareness about cancer, survival, and hope. If there are any members in Washington state that would like to meet up with Terry and log a few miles just let me know. I have offered him a place to stay for the night and some home cooking here on Camano Island. http://www.terrysbigadventure.com/ Thanks everyone! Larry AKA Silverdeer
  9. Great video! I have mounted the Go-Pro on my gas tank, speedometer, and side bags. On a dare I also used the suction cup mount and put it on top of my helmet but I don't recommend it because people point and you look like a "Teletubbie". All my videos are posted on You Tube, just search for " silverdeer007 ". It's a neat little camera but I wish they would put an LED on the body of the camera so you can tell when it's recording or not.
  10. Here's an update about Terry and a news clip about what he is doing. I'm waiting for him to arrive in the Seattle area within the next couple of weeks. He has been offered a stay at my house and a home cooked meal when he arrives. If there are some members who would like to meet up with him for a ride just let me know. http://www.news10.net/video/default.aspx?aid=97967&storyid=83781#/Recent+Videos/Cancer+survivor+hits+open+road+with+message+of+hope/52821470001/52747302001/96704679001 silverdeer
  11. Wade, That is awesome>> If you send them to me I'll send them back as soon as I am done with them. I'll send my mailing address in a email to you.
  12. Here's another rider that I will assist as he travels the route "West of the Pecos" As a cancer survivor myself I can really appreciate what he is doing. http://web.me.com/tpurdom/Site/Welcome.html silverdeer
  13. Thanks for all the advice. I tried everything mentioned and still...no go. As the computer boots up everything is fine until 1/2 way thru the boot process, then I get the "blue screen of death" that says: "inaccessible Boot Device error 0x0000007B." I believe this to be a corrupt dll file. From what I am being told the only way to correct this is with a re-installation of Windows 2000. The cd rom is listed in the boot sequence in bios and I was able to move it to the top and get into dos, but beyond that I am stumped. I was able to use a Windows 98 disk to trouble shoot and scan disk/check disk show no errors. I may just take it to the computer shop I bought it from 3 years ago and let them have a shot at it. The other option is to use it as planter box for flowers now that warmer weather has arrived.
  14. I know this is a long shot...but....I'm looking for the floppy disks to reinstall Windows 2000 on the computer that runs my weather station. I have tried the cd and it won't work. I even went in to setup and changed the boot order but the cd does not work. If you have the 3.5 inch floppies let me know and I'll make an offer. silverdeer
  15. Just a news article in our local newspaper that I thought others may like to know about. The web site is located at: http://www.wegotyour6.southernwebsolution.net The full article can be seen at: http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20100503/NEWS01/705039903#Marysville.mans.9000-mile.fundraising.ride.is.for.the.troops MARYSVILLE — Frank McAtee is going to sleep on the ground for three weeks, without so much as a camping pad under his sleeping bag. He'll spend more than $1,000 on gas. He's asking his metallic purple 1987 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide — which already has seen 108,000 miles — to carry him around the perimeter of the nation, to roll another 9,000 miles under her aging wheels. McAtee doesn't have to do any of this, but he's doing it anyway. He's doing it for the troops. Not just for those engaged in war, but for all the men and women in uniform. “Someone should do something to show 'em the little guy in America still has got their backs,” he said. “It doesn't matter what the politics are.” He leaves today. McAtee, 50, served in the Marine Corps from 1977 to 1982. The idea for his trip came to him after the shootings in Fort Hood, Texas, last November that left 13 people dead and 30 wounded, he said. McAtee will collect donations along the way for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society and the USO, two worldwide organizations that provide financial assistance and other help to military personnel and their families. He's already personally collected about $500, he said. He's selling pins that say, “We've Got Your 6” and “9,000 miles across America,” for $5 each. The “6” is military lingo for the area behind one's back. I signed up at his website and will be donating as well. silverdeer
  16. I received the tee shirts from Ebay yesterday and they are actually real nice. The quality of the material is pretty good because the shirts are made by Gildan and the printing is done by folks in Oregon. The quality of the RSTD on the back is also good and they changed the wording over the bike to read, "Royal Star Tour Deluxe". Despite the "lame" comment I find this product to be a good value and high quality. It's tough finding items that depict the RSTD so I'm happy with this purchase.
  17. I just ordered 2 of the RSTD Tee shirts from that Ebay store. There was some confusion on the site because it shows "XS" as the only size available. After you place the order you can specify what you want. They are changing the wording to "Royal Star Tour Deluxe" and adding my name to the front of the shirt, at no extra cost. I actually received a phone call from Dan, the owner who wanted to verify all the information. He also stated that he can put ANYTHING on a tee shirt, cars, boats, pets, etc. Well I'll be in tee shirt paradise for a bit. I ordered 2 shirts from Don's maint day (sorry I won't be there) and 2 shirts from the ebay store. I'll let you know about the quality as soon as I get the tee shirts because they are located in Bend Oregon so it should be quick. silverdeer
  18. Actually I bet your annual rainfall is higher than ours. We just stay cloudy with a drizzle for days on end and it's not rust, but green mold.
  19. RATS!! Camos and I passed by the farm stand with the crowd taking pictures, and we saw your bike in LaConner. You didn't by chance travel with a guy who had a white Yamaha with Maine plates did you? . Now had we have known you were up here we would have all taken a ride to LaConner and had a mini M&E. I knew I should have pulled over! silverdeer
  20. It was a pleasure to help out a Venture Rider member because as I have learned since becoming a member of this group - Helping members is the norm! Meeting camos near the border was a great excuse for a ride and the weather was absolutely super for our ride on Saturday. Now if we can just get a bit more participation from the members here in the PNW, we could really make a showing on the road. Danette and I felt we have made a good friend with someone from "up north" and we look forward to rides in the future. I'm sure camos took some awesome pictures, but guess he will have to visit again and redo all those wonderful pictures.
  21. So sad to hear about this tragic loss. My Prayers and thoughts are with the family during this trying time. I have been planning a future trip out to visit Bernie (BJ66) , Mike Knoll may very well have been one of the people I would have met on that trip. silverdeer
  22. Thanks for the info Dave...That's where I will start when I pull them apart. Electrical problems are a PIA to diagnose and repair.
  23. I double checked and it states they have 3 LEDs for light on the tags. Glad you mentioned that..I didn't even consider that when I was looking.
  24. Has anyone else tried these lights on a RSTD? Considering getting the stop lights and LED turn signals. I still had a fuse blow and lost the headlights. I have now disconnected the passing lights and haven't blown a fuse since. Looks like I'll be pulling these and looking for a bare/bad/burnt wire. May replace the passing lights with LEDs also. http://www.customdynamics.com/Yamaha_tail_retro.htm silverdeer
