  1. Check the top chrome nut on top of the triple tree to make sure it is tight.
  2. To me it looks as if the tire made contact with the underside of the fender and there is something protruding the underside of the fender like a bolt. Just an opinion.....
  3. No problem, all I was saying is that the motor will perform better with a free-er flowing exhaust. I believe your pilots are way too fat and installing smaller jets will wake up the beast as well as improve your mileage.
  4. I guess that shoots my theory all to heck.........
  5. Yamaha must have changed their source on these pumps for '06-up. The bulk of the failures I am seeing is on bikes '06 and newer (lots of 06 and 07), you don't hear of pump failure on a 2nd gen 99-05 that terribly often. When I had my '06 RSV I had 2 pump failures in 60,000 miles, both due to point failure, both covered under warranty. This 2000 I have now I inspected the points at 42,000 miles and they look brand new so I have no worries it will fail anytime soon. I'll inspect annually but I am thinking I'm going to have zero issues with this on this '00.
  6. Stock pilots on the 32's are #15, if you went to a 17.5 pilot you'd have great off idle response and you'd pick up your MPG. Also some opened up exhaust would help that setup breathe better.
  7. I agree, that is abnormal. When I still had my '06 at 102,000 miles you could still see the machining marks.
  8. +1 on ragtop69gs reply, the RSTD cables will give you an extra 2 or 3" of length.

I wax my windshield all the time. Makes cleaning a breeze and the water beads nicely.
  10. It was my pleasure to build you your hitch and rack. I'm glad its working out for you. If you ever have any problems with it, don't hesitate to give me a shout, those items have a lifetime warranty for a stand up guy like yourself!
  11. My 06 was the same when I had it and this 00 I have now WAS like that until I had enough and changed the pilot jets from the stock #15 to #17 .5. What a difference, not cold blooded and starts much better, plus much, much better throttle response. You can turn open the mixture screws and it will improve some but the next size pilot jets really made a huge difference on my bike.
  12. It hasn't been necessary for me to remove the fender whenever I've done the swingarm service.
  13. I have done it both ways several times but I do like east to west much better. The reason I like east to west is that when I got back into riding motorcycles about 15 years ago, that was our (wife and I) 1st crossing of a mountain pass on a motorcycle. A day neither one of us will never forget. Awesome!!
  14. That's a good lookin' scoot!!!!
  15. I have changed oil in the forks in both my RSV's to a heavier oil. When I had my 06 I went up to 20 wt and found it just a tad stiff for my liking but the handling improved. On this 2000 MM Ltd I changed it to 10wt, I found it a bit better than the stock 5 wt but will be going to 15 wt on its next change.
  16. The trunk on the RSV can be moved back a little, there are alternate mounting holes to move it back 3/4-1". I did this and that small amount really changed the comfort level for my wife.
  17. I have done this on both of my RSV's that I have owned. I installed them when I pulled the swingarm to service the bearings the 1st time. I located the zerk on each side between the seal and the bearing.
  18. Looks to me like it is the screw that synchronizes the right side carbs to the left side carbs. Need to perform a carburetor synchronization to reset it.
  19. Great that you got it repaired. Thanks for the update!
  20. My guess would be the rotor is warped again. Id bet that there is something wrong with the master cylinder not releasing the caliper fully, causing excessive brake drag, rotor gets hot and warps.
  21. I had the same thing happen of my 2000 MM last fall. What the problem was that the orings that are around the float valve seats were dried out and allowing gas to flow around the seat and overfilling the carb bowls and running out the vent(s). I corrected by installing new seats and valves.
  22. If the new plugs don't get your cylinders firing, next I would remove, inspect and clean your carbs. Pilot circuit jets are most likely plugged.
  23. The 1900 Stratoliner and Roadliner is a push rod air/oil cooled engine as well. I had a HD Ultra Classic with a 103 and I can say my 1900 Strat is WAY better engineered than the HD. Way more torque, very smooth and absolutely no heating issues and will run just fine on 87 octane.
  24. I will be interested in either way they go meaning v-twin or v-4. I happen to have both an RSV and a Stratoliner in my stable and I love them both. I do love v-4 power and would hope that if they do go v-twin they do not use Royal Star or Venture in the name, come up with a totally new name. The Strat motor would make an awesome touring bike motor because its got monster torque with potential for even more. My bone stock Strat will pull away from every Harley in this part of the world, even the ones with built up motors. The Strat has a really low centre of gravity compared to the venture, so if they go v-twin and fixed fairing the bike will be easier to manage at slow speeds, something that some have issue with in its current form. As said before, I will be in the market by the time they release something, and will be interested in either form.
