  1. Bigger is better! Carbon One makes a really nice pair of arm rests that flip up for entry and exit and are very strong and easy to install...
  2. OK the white indicator means either the headlight is burned out or one of the tail lights is bad. There is a device that mounts on the top of the front fairing frame behind all the relays that detects a light out situation from the CDI and switches the headlight to high beam and lights the white light called the reserve lighting relay. It could be just a corroded connection to the headlight at the socket. I would remove the headlight connector and ohm out the headlight and then clean the contacts... There is a set of schematics in the 1st gen technical section for you. Also, ther ed light is for ANY error such as low hydraulic oil in resovoir, low battery electrolyte, low oil level, etc.
  3. Yes, the '83 was not the most stellar year with several bugs that were fixed in '84 except for the 2nd gear issue that wasn't fixed until halfway thru the '85 year. I'd say 2K, maybe 2500 if you are lucky but doubt it...
  4. Is that ruler metric or SAE??
  5. Mine's back and spent a while ago...
  6. There are several things that cause front end wobble on a 1st gen. Tire balance, steering head bearings, shocks, and as Angel mentioned the flimsy stock fork brace. Question, did you notice oscillation before mounting the new tire?? Do you have one tire a radial and the other a bias ply?? Questions, questions... Edit*** Make sure the tire is not mounted backwards!! There is a directional arrow for proper mounting on the tire...
  7. I own both Bob, and each has it's pro's and con's. The ME is a sweet bike to have, very stylish...
  8. Yup, met him more than once and rode with him as well! So sorry to hear of his mishap! Hope he heals well.
  9. I think I'll be more comfy in the guest house when one of us WNY'ers win the contest!! Does it have electric and WiFi???
  10. Rotflamo!!!!!
  11. Hey, land between the lakes is even pretty in a Jeep...
  12. Wow!! How time flies!! Goldie will be 30 in November. Had 8K on it when I bought it, now only has 18K on it...
  13. We won't be able to make it Ben, Sundays at 11:00 our church service is only 1/2 done. Also trike is still sleeping, and I have some work to do on it first. Besides, I'm one of those kind of riders that refuses to take a bike out until there have been a few really good rains such as like we've had this week. We would like to meet up with you, we know where Tom Wahls is. Hopefully some time in the near future!
  14. Try new wires and caps, especially if they are the original. When it dies, when you first key on, do you hear the fuel pump for a few seconds? There is a lot to the carbs and if you don't know what you are doing you can really mess them up even worse! There is a really good video out occasionally available on Fleabay on rebuilding them. The video is about VMax carbs but they are basically the same. I would try a good dosage of Seafoam and drive it like you stole it. Works wonders. You can pull the diaphragm covers and inspect the diaphragms for pinholes and replace any with holes without messing anything up, but chances are the carbs will need some kind of service. Yes, try new plugs as they do tend to go south rapidly. You say it had spark so rule out electrical problems unless you want to try all 4 wires the next time it happens. I would drain and flush the gas tank, you may be contaminated with bad gas or just plain crud. Another possibility is a bad fuel line, especially the one from the fuel pump to the carbs...
  15. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Annie!!!
  16. Bad cable or connection from amp to headset. Try cleaning every connector and reseat them a few times. Add some dielectric grease to each connector to keep the moisture out...
  17. A pound of lead is on it's way...
  18. Tell you what, Randy, send me the cash and I will make the deal for you...
  19. Wait a minute, Ben and innocent in the same sentence???
  20. Yup!! Reeks of scam!! Why is it always a service member going overseas and they will guarantee shipment?? If you do make some sort of arrangement to "see" the bike carrying money, pack heat and don't go alone, many people have been robbed that way...
  21. Sooo, we are having Canadians for dinner in the near future??
  22. Yes! Cut one ear off and use the other hole (ear) to secure the TCI to the airbox lid...
  23. Outstanding Orlin!! Indeed things happen for a reason! Makes you think there is some sort of master plan or something, eh?!!?
