Besides Old Smoky there is another brand they are selling but I forgot the name. Either one is ehhh, OK I guess. Ragtop69GS makes the best stuff to my taste but the others from the site are great as well! Jay's has a very nice fresh Dutch Apple pie taste without an alcohol aftertaste. Unfortunately any apple pie has waaay too much sugar for me being diabetic. I remember back in the 60's when I was stationed at Ft Bliss Texas getting this Mexican stuff called Puro which was the same stuff. One night we finished off a bottle of it, then lit it on fire just from the fumes and threw it into the Rio Grande. It burned a blue flame for a while...

Beautiful day for a ride so I did. Unfortunately I found out the hard way that my backrest was like a sponge and FULL of water!! Got underway, leaned back and got to ride all afternoon with a wet butt!! Good thing it was in the upper 60's. Put over 100 miles on this afternoon. Hopefully will get in one more last ride still...

I almost bought a '81 California Special, black and all that nice chrome and gold accents. Nice bike. Ended up getting a better deal on an '85 Honda CX650 X which I enjoyed for several years but in retrospect wish I would have went with the XS1100...

Yes, I've had a couple done too and other than going thru the procedure itself, which is painless, it's no big deal...

TCI = Transistor Controlled Ignition. Yes it is a control module, in modern terms it would be an ECM. If even available, new is ridiculously priced! Member Dingy supplies us with an aftermarket setup with a modern version that is plug and play. There is also an excellent video available on ebay for PROPERLY rebuilding the carburetors and setting them up. The carbs have a lot of things going on with their operation and can cause various different hiccups, but when properly rebuilt and set up can and will unleash the true power and performance these bikes are capable of producing...

My personal feelings with synthetic are they keep their viscosity for a longer time so they are a superior lubricant, but with our wet clutch you have to make sure there are no friction modifiers in them. Although this is not your case, with new engines initial wear is important so that all parts wear into each other for better fit. Because of this I myself do not like using synthetic until a motor has at least 10,000 miles or more, however I will use a blended synthetic for longevity of the oil. There are a couple of motorcycle specific synthetics out there but they tend to be a little pricy. I do like the Rotella synthetic 15W45 myself...
