  1. Greg, Have you performed any trouble shooting on the system? This next statement isn't meant to be personable, but how's your wrenching skills? It can get to be a bit labor intensive if you have to try and change out a stator. One of the most frequent charging issues is with the regulator/rectifier. I know on the RSVs they're at the bottom of the front frame under the radiator. That would be the 1st place I would check as the connection plug has been known to get hot and melt. I had that happen to one of my 99s.
  2. Pull all the plugs out of the cylinders and spin the motor over. If your not going to be using the bike for an extended period, shut the petcock off and run the carbs dry. This will ensure the carbs won't leak down into the engine.
  3. That's a Yamaha aftermarket air cleaner chrome cover. I don't think you can buy them new anymore. Your best bet would be ebay.
  4. Thanks y'all, this too shall pass. It's been a very different illness for sure. Hopefully it will start to turn around soon.
  5. Ronnie's explanation is spot on. The cylinder is over fueled and when it's spun over, it stops dead. Sometimes it will start after that, but the damage is done.
  6. It's definitely no fun, I'm going through it right now, albeit not in the hospital. It's the sickest I've ever remember being in my 54 years on the planet. I'm happy to hear of the positive news on your front 👍
  7. Jeff hit the nail on the head. I have witnessed a friends Tour Deluxe let go after the bike hydrolocked on a hard start. They replaced the engine under warranty, but it's not totally unheard of, sorry about your mishap 😕
  8. I bought my 02 with 55K on it 7 years ago. It has 117K+ on it right now and I wouldn't hesitate to take it anywhere. As long as the maintenance has been reasonably performed, 200K isn't uncommon.
  9. Andrew, 1st gen Ventures are notorious for the rear master cylinder return orifice clogging up due to old brake fluid in the system. I have actually had the rear tire lock up due to fluid getting hot, expanding, and not be able to vent back into the master cylinder. If you decide to get it, make sure you do a complete fluid change on all the brakes.
  10. Thanks for the input Ben, I agree with your assessment by and large. The bike is suddenly dying under acceleration, engine completely dies. A few seconds later it kicks right back in. I don't loose electrical power on the bike, just power to the engine. This is what is leading me to think the module, but I will definitely check out what you've share, thank you buddy.
  11. I'm looking at getting a Dyna 3000 for my 02. I believe the ignition box is starting to give up the ghost. Does anyone have one that they purchased and never installed or a spare one laying around that they want to get rid of?
  12. 10 degrees here in Houston last Tuesday and 78 today, I feel ya.
  13. Thats a scary looking wreck Bob, glad to hear the kids are on the mend 👍
  14. Todd, It looks like his membership has expired. This thread is from 2014.
  15. As we've said in the past, plan it and they will come.
  16. They're talking about a winter storm for Houston starting Sunday with 1 to 3 inches of snow and freezing rain through Monday. I thought I left this garbage in Detroit 11 years ago 🙄
  17. I'll have to double check, but I believe my kit is accessible in the garage.
  18. It's supposed to be 12 degrees in Houston Monday night, I've seen a low of 19 here in the 11 years we've lived here, but 12 is ridiculous 🙄
  19. Technology fails, I always took a spiral bound truckers map with me in the trunk unless you're absolutely familiar with the route you're going 0.02
  20. Thank you for the indepth commentary on the Harreling experience. Way to suck up such grueling pain and persevere, I'm proud of you buddy!
