  1. You probably just had a stuck float and riding it jarred it around enough to clear itself up. Dump a can of seafoam or B12 Chemtool in the tank and go for a nice long ride where you use most the fuel in the tank up.
  2. I searched out some of the reviews online and even came across a writeup that V7Goose did here and they all seem to like the MT66 Pirelli's. Delivered to the door is costing me $230 which I felt was a decent price. Michelins were going to be a little over $400, so I'm happy with it. As far as mileage, we'll see what happens, I'm usually pretty on the ball about keeping my tire pressures consistent.
  3. They had both the sizes for my RSV, I just went ahead and ordered them. I haven't heard anything bad about the Pirelli's, so as Admiral David Glasgow Farragut said during the Battle of Mobile Bay, “Damn the torpedoes! Four Bells! Captain Drayton, go ahead!
  4. Looking to try a different tire, I've never run a Pirelli before and I'm interested in thoughts on folks that have. https://www.motosport.com/product/?cc=us&gclid=Cj0KCQjw3f6HBhDHARIsAD_i3D8n8JmAM5Pe0g6kjvorV8_N-rfBJCNtQDD7O8YWDguEnhklRAlXMpoaAqD9EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&key=Pirelli-MT66-Route-Tire-Combo&pssource=true&segment=badger&utm_medium=pla&utm_source=google&variant=PIR0022-X001-Y001
  5. I live outside of Houston Texas and I ride all year long. I have been noticing the cupping and could feel it buzzing in the handlebars. It just happened that the bad spot was right in plain view at the perfect angle for it to really catch my eye yesterday morning after I got off the bike. Now I'm going to fill y'all in on something here, I run darkside as I have a 15" Nexen car tire on the back of my RSV. I've been running it for about 2 years. Now I know some of you are shaking your heads as you would never think of doing it, and that's cool, I just wanted to run one for myself for an extended period as a lot of my riding these days is 1 up and on the freeway. I'm fairly confident that running the car tire on the back should not have made any difference on this tire. I still get into the twisties, and even though my chicken strips aren't to the complete edge of the tire, I still ride it how I want to. The only thing I wonder about is the Shinko on the front is a bias tire and the back is a radial, I've heard about not mixing the 2, but not sure what the "side effects" are with running it this way.
  6. Ok, Here's the skinny, I did receive an emailed response back from Shinko, which was fairly quick. This is what they had to say... Hello Brad Thank you for reaching out to Shinko Tires USA. All possible warranties begin with the original selling dealer. Please reach out to the point of purchase and they will work with us to get the proper information and inspections done. Please let us know if you have any further questions! Thanks! Aly Clark Support Specialist –Tire & Wheel Division I purchased the tire online, from I believe Dennis Kirk, I would have to try and research that out. I had my local Yamaha dealer install and balance it. So unfortunately it appears that I have to do a lot of legwork and time to get it to the point where they will look at it and determine if it's a warranty issue. I'm not sure I'm going to waste my time to do this on a $100 tire. I believe that I'm just going to try a different brand, perhaps something that I haven't tried before like a Pirelli. If i do decide to spend the time jumping through the hoops, I'll let y'all know what becomes of it.
  7. I'm fixin to do that momentarily, thanks for the link. I just sent them a message Paul, we'll see what comes of it.
  8. The tire was manufactured in the 40th week of 2018, so basically the 1st week of October.
  9. I don't necessarily disagree with you Ben, I just remember the Metzler debacle and them ultimately blowing many people off. I will get a batch number for y'all so we can see if they did indeed have a bad run.
  10. Hey Folks, I wanted to come on here and tell you about something I discovered this morning on my RSV. I have been a big proponent of the Shinko tires, I've ran a few sets on various bikes. I looked at my front tire this morning after I got to work and saw it cupping badly, at closer inspection, as seen in the 1st picture, the tire is separating. This tire has somewhere between 7 and 9K miles on it and has a lot of tread depth left. I'm obviously going to replace this tire, and also not purchase anymore Shinkos. It's unfortunate as I've had pretty good luck with running them, but I will not promote this brand any longer. Some of you will remember when the Metzler 880's were doing this, this reminds me exactly of that. Just wanted to give y'all a heads up so you can make better informed decisions when ordering tires for your bikes.
  11. I was going to call him, but his profile doesn't have his number in it.
  12. My number is in my profile, give me a call if you get a chance.
  13. Are you looking at breakfast, and if so, what time?
  14. Let me double check and see if I have something going on. I'd love to get together with y'all.
  15. No, you're 180 degrees out, that is the speedometer housing that the cable hooks into.
  16. I've seen some newer openers that are activated by using an app on your smartphone. I thought that was pretty slick if you ride with your phone in a cradle.
  17. It sounds like the fluid is contaminated with water. Brake fluid is hygroscopic and will absorb moisture. When it heats up from riding it's less effective at compressing properly so the clutch, or brakes will fade. I'd be willing to bet a fluid flush and insure it's sealed properly will take care of it.
  18. I believe that an early to mid 90s Geo Metro thermostat will fit. I think there is a discussion somewhere here on the forum.
  19. Had a beautiful 70 degree ride into work, and 15 miles of pouring rain coming home. Life is good God's still sovereign and let me make it home in 1 piece.. thanks Jesus 😁
  20. I'm south of you in Shepherd TX. just northeast of Houston. You're more than welcome to come down to my place and work in a garage if you would like. My info is in my profile.
  21. I have seen on several occasions where the actual brass tube, that the hose slips over, will come loose. I've actually pulled mine out a couple of times trying to remove the hose from the peacock. I would check and make sure that the brass tube is completely seated in the body 0.02
  22. Like mentioned, Skydoc17 is the easiest way to go. His kit has all you'll need and instructions to boot.
  23. Just use a standard green 50/50 mix antifreeze. Whatever flavor (Prestone, Peak, or other reputable name) will work fine.
