  1. I will also never leave my key on the ignition even if it broke down. If I need hazard lights, I will have to stay close to the bike until help arrives. On the other hand, I don't want the feature of being able to turn on your hazard lights even with the key in the ignition. I just don't want any random person turn on my hazard lights and leave it on.
  2. Gave my '07 RSV an oil change and also changed the gear oil then went for a ride with no destination whatsoever. Along the way, picked up a dozen sweet corn from a farmer and couldn't wait to get home to eat it. Ride Safe All.
  3. @Squidley I am sorry that your front tire is showing some deterioration, but as mentioned here...contact Shinko. That will be my first order of business and hopefully you can get a good answer from them. As for the brand, I am also running Shinko on my '07 with rear having about 12000 miles and the front has about 4K miles. Both tires are so far looking fairly good. Good Luck and keep posted.
  4. IMO, your mechanic should have at least mentioned to you what he did. The proper way is to replace the gasket and not just silicone it and have you wait for a good 2 weeks time. Glad you were able to figure it out. At least this way, you know it has been done right. Ride safe.
  5. Finally got it done this morning. It was a challenge trying to adjust the belt tension, but it was fun trying to learn the bike. I’ll try to stay away from nails and staples, etc. ride safe all.
  6. Prayers to your family. Stay the course and always stay strong no matter what. Family guidance is the key.
  7. Posted the other pic upside down. 🙃
  8. Came back from vacation and was very glad to be back in the garage. SVTC needs attention. I finally got the tire off and now headed to the shop to have the new tire mounted.
  9. That is true. I was also a little surprised. The last tire I ordered had cardboard on both ends with plastic ties. This is a big improvement. Weather has been humid all day and thunderstorms in our area.
  10. @ChiefGunner Correct!
  11. What’s in the box? Tomorrow is a busy day. 😀
  12. @djh3 Glad to know that you were able to get home with a plug and you happen to be right by a maintenance shop. It also happened to my RSV a number of years ago and now my SVTC. On both occasions, I discovered the nail while parked in the garage. I guess I got lucky twice now. Ride safe
  13. Well said @saddlebum. My tire is on its way from Dennis Kirk. They said I should get it by 06/22, but I hope it shows up in my front porch by Friday. I will also have to get myself a Belt Tension Gauge for a little over $20 bucks.
  14. @Du-Rron Unfortunately, the tire leaked air as soon as I pulled the nail out. At this point, I consider the old tire as a recyclable item.
  15. @RDawson I agree. I spoke to Yamaha's field service advisor for the east region and he said to change the tire in a heartbeat. I also called my trusted yamaha shop and they said replace the tire. I will be ordering the tire today and will remove the wheel tomorrow. As I think about it more and more, is it worth saving a few dollars....you guys know what I mean. My wife ultimately said, go buy a new tire.
  16. I agree, I like the plug and patch route. I'll be posting updates and developments of the repair as soon as I make up my mind what to do with the tire repair. Thank You All for your guidance!
  17. @SpencerPJ I like your suggestion on plugging the hole for now. I do have a plug kit that I bought over a year ago. This rear tire still has good tread and only has a little over 7K miles. I really hate throwing it away. One good advantage on the SVTC is that it gives us real time tire pressure monitoring...I just have to remember to always take along the portable air pump. The other option is to simply replace the tire and be done with it. This is my dilemma.
  18. I pulled out the nail this afternoon and it looked like the nail went in a little sideways. Because of that, at least an inch of the nail went in. It was a pretty long nail…. Once removed, air came out 🥲 Today, I was still able to ride and used my very dependable ‘07 RSV. Tomorrow, I plan to take off everything in the rear to get to the rear wheel. This is my first time doing this, so I will need all the help I can get. I really can’t feel any cord per se, so I think the tire is repairable. Perhaps a patch inside???? Once I remove the tire, I’ll have the shop assess it. 🤞 For now, I’ll be reading and shopping for a new rear tire to save time.
  19. I noticed this yesterday, when I left in the afternoon for an errand. First thing I noticed is what looked like white chalk. Upon looking closer, my heart just dropped. ☹️☹️☹️ A similar thing happened to my RSV about 4 years ago and I ended up replacing the rear tire. I’ll try to pull the nail out later today and see if it is leaking or not. The tire is not loosing air, so I am hoping the penetration is superficial.
  20. Thanks for the heads up. I welcome any upgrades and an improvement to the current GPS. Feeling excited right now. I shall wait patiently.
  21. That is very helpful. Good info. I have less than a thousand miles to go for my next oil change.
  22. First and foremost, congratulations on your acquisition of the 2008 RSV. It is a very nice bike to say the least. You have come to the right place for information and anything that you want to share regarding your 2nd gen RSV. I would like to add, since your bike has been sitting for 2 years, plan on bleeding your brakes anytime soon. An oil change should be on top of your list. Welcome and enjoy the bike...
  23. Glad to hear the rider is doing fine. We've heard this millions of times before, speed is one of the major causes of motorcycle accidents. Ride Safe all.
  24. In order to avoid any road rage, I stay on the right lane(s). Most of the vehicles I pass on the left are the ones that travel well below the speed limit. Be safe and enjoy your rides.
  25. ...that other car passing you on the right may be going 50 mph over the posted speed limit.
