  2. At last some photos. I have started to prep the original paint for a fresh glass coat. I need to do something about radio No cover! Breaks are great. Just needs a polish. Man, I just love the seat!!!
  3. Yes, its a serious offer. I can arrange for a place for someone to stay. Just need advanced notice. I may not be able to travel around this summer too much, but, it would be nice to get a chance to meet a few of you. And yes the photos will be taken very soon.
  4. Hang in there. I hope all goes well. Remember, you are just about to beat the cigarettes don't forget that!
  5. I'm getting there! I would really like a sunny day for the photos. Its just been a little busy at the home (my work) . The retired folks need all kinds of stuff done. www.oakparkretirement.com I don't know where to post this idea, but, if anyone is comming to ottawa and needs a very nice place to stay, please get in touch with me. Most nice hotels go for over $130.00 here. I can set you up for $75.00 and that includes 3 very nice meals a day. Thats if you don't mind staying at a retirement home. I wonder who may need to start thinking about that!! :rotf:
  6. I will give it a good test but I wonder if there is a way to find out through the dealers if the work was done? Would the dealers have a record like the car dealers have of work like this preformed? Both previous owners had all work done by the dealers so I could hope there is a record. I got some old repair bills with the bike and they were FULLY charged for all kinds of work. The last bill was $2000.00 for regular maintenance stuff. Thanks for the link!
  7. How does ...1227 sound.
  8. Thanks for the advice. I will be diligent. Man! the snow is taking sooooo loooong to melt!!!
  9. Its the slider lever. Sorry about the photos but new ones will be up soon. It has a corban seat but not the back rest. I will look into one this summer. When I was looking it over I found that the dealer left a few bolts loose. I don't think a dealer will touch my bike unless I feel real comfortable with them. Unbelievable!! Next on the list is a hitch!
  10. At last, I got my 1985 Venture in and had a good look at it. I picked it up off Kijiji in North Bay without seeing it but had a good feeling about the owner and what I saw in his photos. NOT A TRACE OF RUST ANYWHERE!! I don't think this old girl has ever seen rain or dust. Around 75,000KM on it. I picked it up for $1000.00 Canadian fully decked out as you can see from the photos in my album. All it needs is a fresh glass coat if I feel like it this winter. I took it apart to replace the rear signal light (supplies) and even in the in the hard to get at places there is no dirt. I even found a spare key the previous owner never knew about. He only had it serviced from a dealer in North Bay. I think I got a sweet deal. Put a fresh battery in it and it started right up. Very nice. I plan on changing the fluids breaks and such. OK I sound a bit exceeded but when you see a first gen in such good condition it calls for a party!! One question: What I can do to keep the rust away. Any suggestions since I plan to ride not hide it. The paint looks original so I hope to keep it. I will have some new photos soon.

  12. I just love my 83. Went from Ottawa to NH with my son and we had a blast. My old girl never once gave me a problem and still is great to ride. Thanks for all the help to get the small bugs out. I found a 85 in North Bay Ontario with more chrome and shine for a fair price so I just had to have her as well. No shortage of parts now. To tell the the truth, I just can't start tearing either one apart. They are a beauty and should be on the road. Yep I love my bike!! Dam snow!! Sorry for the delay in becoming a paying member but its worth way more then what is asked.
  13. Hi Ryder Still have the following? 83 tci assembly coils and boost sensor Ryan
  14. Just as suggested I found water. I was afraid of that. So in the oven it goes and we will see. I will deffinetly be on the look out for an extra TCI unit. Thanks again Ryan
  15. Hi Everyone My 83 venture 1200 is on the road where she belongs. I will work out the bugs over time and I just want to say thanks for all the help everyone gives here:clap2:. A new problem has presented itself as of late and I hope someone can help. When I start the bike cold, the tack does not work and it sounds like I am running on two cylinders. In about 10 min it warms up and the tack starts to work and the power kicks in. We have had some colder mornings as of late here in Ottawa and some rain as well. Shamefully I must admit that I have allowed my baby to be out in the rain:depressed: Can anyone help with a suggestion or two?? Thanks Ryan
  16. Always need a part or two. Panel covers is something my bike really needs. I will look up the parts.
  17. Thanks for the info everyone . Within a month I will have this old girl back on the road where she belongs. ryan_mcdonald2@hotmail.com
  18. Hi all. I am rebuilding a 83 venture 1200, mostly cosmetic. Fun but a good work out! The motor and trans seems fine so far. What I will need, at some point, are rotors and diaphragms. Any suggestions that won't cost me an arm and a leg?
