  1. WOW That does speak well of that Sedona. I'm very pleased that they got out of it as well as they did. Prayers for a speedy recovery.
  2. I use Seafoam on anything that sits. I put 4 cans of it in the motorhome when I put it away for the Winter. I've an 87 Venture Standard that was last licensed in 2014, and I put a very heavy dose of Seafoam in it because I knew it wasn't likely to be used soon. I had pretty much dedicated myself to my 06 Venture, but still loved the 87 and couldn't let it go. I store these bikes in my pump shed, so they're out of the weather, and kept above freezing. Just for the heck of it, I tried to start the 87, and, believe it or not...she fired right up. As soon as I'm done bringing the old Nighthawk back, .... (and the snow melts enough to get the 87 the 300' to the work shed).....The 87 Venture is next on the list for a good going over. I think I'll try to put a few miles on her this year. Now lemme get that Nighthawk finished up.
  3. I have an 87 Standard and an 06 Royale and they get.....uh..... Actually I never checked...lol.
  4. I thought about putting something pretty solid in line with the mailbox. I've a length of 3" pipe....How about taking a post hole digger and going down a couple of feet, then concreting in a length of pipe with a threaded nipple at ground level.....then, when I know snow is coming, thread a ? 6' ? length of pipe into the nipple and wait for the "CLANG".....I could paint it like a barber pole to make it hi-vis, but my concern is that if he damages the plow / truck when he hits it,....I'm gonna be payin'.... I've done stuff like that before...if we ever meet...ask me about the pumpkin boobytrap....Hilarious. ps: Just looked at the diagram for the swing away mailbox. Looks super easy to build....I'll put it on my list for when the weather breaks....or maybe for this Summer...but by next Winter this issue will be addressed.. I'll post pics.
  5. Took off work today. Plowed my drive, along with my 5 closest neighbors. County plow truck took my mailbox out 5 times so far this year.....We'll see if this helps.
  6. True Dat. From Central Ohio, it'd be a bit far for me right now, but it's something I'd be interested in a few years ...(more than a few)...down the road when I retire. I like the way you're thinkin'.
  7. Pic taken in the mid 80s. My niece and I down in Key Largo. I just took her up to the end of the street and back.... Her daughter...(my Grand Niece?) will be 4 in April. Maybe I should get a pic of her on the back of my Venture.....for posterity....
  8. And my chosen profession puts me outside, on the roof in this crap.....
  9. This guys a frickin' idiot. Thanks for giving me another reason to avoid youtube.
  10. My deepest sympathies to his family. I'm certain we'll all get to see him again. Suggestion: If anyone has any pics of him.....put 'em up.
  11. I DID !!!
  12. I've been putting ethanol free gas with a heavy dose of Seafoam in it in these machines as I bring them back. That should keep 'em for a while.
  13. I'm focused this Winter on turning some of the old projects I've laying around into functioning machines again. Got my old Polaris 4 wheeler sorted out and ready for action...been sitting for 3 or 4 years. Got a 10k generator back up and running after (someone else) left it sitting for about 5 years. Now I'm working on getting my old Honda Nighthawk 700s back up and running. It's been sitting about 6 years. I had Seafoam in the gas back then, and now, with a tank leak, had no gas in it. I loosened the bowl drain screws on the outer carbs and it appears the bowls are dry as well. I'd like to fill the bowls and let them soak for a day or three, but don't know what I should use. I don't think Seafoam is meant for actual cleaning....I know some carb cleaner is not friendly to rubber parts. SO...What should I fill the bowls with to dissolve any varnish that won't damage anything.....???
  14. News news???
  15. I sooooo want to go, but I'm not convinced that, through his great wisdom and resolve to protect,....Cuomo will have the state opened up by then.
  16. I've been a GOOD boy....Wife got me a nice Sig P225,....a box of fine cigars and several other delightful gifts....cologne, wool socks and the like. 😄https://media1.giphy.com/media/39onL3yTmFw8I8agYk/200.gif
  17. A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL....and hoping for a better New Year !
  18. The whole thing's a political mess. They took the latest strain of flu and are using it to control people worldwide. Make folks afraid and they're easier to control. As for me...I'm not interested in any vaccine.....we'll just have to wait and see if it becomes mandatory either from the government or by employers. Then we'll all have to make some hard choices.
  19. Prayers are up for this woman....obviously a saint....(she puts up with you) Will be thinking of you over the next few days. Hoping and praying for a successful operation and a quick recovery. What better Christmas gift could there be?
  20. What an all-around great guy....and he knows these Ventures inside & out, forward and back. Always eager to go above and beyond to help. A true credit to humanity. Prayers up.
  21. Rest up. Try to find some distractions so you won't focus on the pain....Weak advice, but it's all I got. Hope you find some comfort soon.😢
  22. Best of luck to ya...heal fast...At least you picked a good time to have it done.
  23. The wrecklessness,....irrresponsibility and confidence of youth......With no consideration for the safety of others....
  24. Had some rather large, dead branches way up high on a tree, overhanging where I usually park the cars, so I rented a 55' lift to get up there and cut them down. The lift BARELY got me there, but I got 'er dun. Was a bit squirrely up that high running a saw, leaning over the side of the basket. The main branch that I was worried about was on the tree to the right, just at the Y.
  25. ZQUXID...C,LOHBL, OHOHIII.COMM...DEOSYWY. That's about what I understood. LOL...Glad it's working out for you. I'm NOT a techy guy, and it works to my detriment. At work we've finally switched from paper service reports to EVERYTHING done through a tablet. I HATE that thing. The 12 year old IT people don't understand why it's a problem, but I'm not alone in my misery. I'm one of the senior techs, and I talk to other techs as well as the dispatchers as well as the service manager, and we're all having trouble. "Just download these files, add them to a zip file, send them to the drive then find them, rename them and fill the forms out and send them back. ????? Horrible system. Several apps to work through for what used to be simple stuff and constant responses of "I don't know why it's doing that". I think the problem is that they tried to form their own systems, as compared to purchasing the programs commonly used in my trade. It seems that anymore what's important is getting all the 'puter stuff straight, and wrenching on the equipment is second to that. I find that I now spend half of my time fiddling with the tablet, all while being pressured to get more of the wrench work done quicker. I'm a mechanic, not an IT guy. Paper always worked. ARRRRGGGGHHHH !!!
