I would agree. I was amazed a couple of months ago when I hit the starter button on my first gen and it started. It's been sitting since 2015....Heavily dosed with Seafoam....same battery ...(on a maintenance charger) Getting that old gal freshened up will be this Winters' project. She's sitting in my pump shed, which is kept at at least 45 degrees and has a dehumidifier that pretty much runs all the time, so I'm sure that helps. One of these days I'm going to have the time to ride all these old bikes I have. 2006 Black Cherry RSV 1987 Venture Standard 1985 Honda Nighthawk 700S 1982 Honda CB900 Custom 1999 BMW Funduro GS650 1983 Yamaha TT600 1980 Honda CT110 I really got to clear out the stable.

Lotsa' folks use this site, some of them even know a thing or two about these great bikes, and even more of them live up North...Heck,...we even have a member who lives in Iceland and attends rallies when he can. (Starfan) You won't find a better site for info on these bikes, ..advice about them, ...or anything else, and a bit of online fun. Glad to have ya aboard.

I do what I can myself, and if it's more than I care to tackle, I "Got a guy".... Actually it's a small shop that works on all bikes and they've treated me pretty well over the years. I think there's a lot of shops like it around, you just have to look for them.

I think I'll keep this guys' info handy and have him pay a visit at the next Maintenance Day....Now....who to have the 'squatch throw the poo at.....

Looks like it's a financial issue? Then why do reports say the permit wasn't granted..? Seems like it should be an on-going tradition.

I'm not diggin' it. I have a similar hauler that I use on my motorhome to haul a BMW 650 enduro bike, and it's not as easy as shown to load even that ??? 350 ??? pound bike up. Once it's loaded up, it does rock / rotate up and down quite a bit. I don't know that it's an issue, but it is annoying. I must also say that with the distance from the hitch, there's a lot of leverage there. I'm sure the weight is beyond the rated hitch capacity, and the distance / leverage amplifies the problem. I also wonder with the weight hanging 3' off the back of the bumper, how much it'd affect steering and such....changing the dynamics of weight distribution going down the road. Trailers can be a pain, but my experience tells me that, if properly maintained and loaded,....they're the safe bet.

I always wanted a Python too....for probably 35 years now....Too pricey, and now that I don't shoot very much, I doubt I'll ever get one.

For a handgun it'd be my SIG 226. Smooth, reliable and they just seem to go where ya want 'em to. For a rifle, I've always thought the old Winchester '94 (30-30) was the one all-purpose rifle I'd want to have around. I have one of the old ones that my Dad left to me and I was thinking I'd donate it to the tiny history center (and hot dog shop) that sits right next to the hardware store where dad originally bought it in '39, when he was 17. That old rifle's taken a lot of deer. I have another one that I bought when I was 17, but not nearly the same value...but I still love it. The one I bought's taken more than a few deer as well. (Don't hunt anymore)

The wife's been pushing me pretty hard to get a Spyder, but I'm not quite ready. Took the RSV out for a short ride the other day and was reminded of why and how much I love my Venture.

Such a failure at highway speeds can be a really BAD thing. Been there, done that....I'm very pleased that you survived it, and that you were resourceful enough to get her going again. I'm sure you were shaken, but ya got right back up on that steed and rode it home. Nice going !!!

Wow !!! Sorry to hear that. Do you know the nature of the failure? Like Freebird said, I've never heard of a blown motor on one of these....many of the old ones have 2nd gear failure, but I've been with the site since '08 and yours is the first motor failure I've heard of.
